I'm curious what people think about the 6.3 world quest.
So I see few people talking about it, and in a way it makes sense because it was a bit underwhelming, but at the same time there is nobody who actually has a problem with it.
Personally, I understand that they had no way of developing Illuga in other quests theis patch, so they had to do it here otherwise he would get the Mika treatment.
Still, would it have hurt them that much to maybe delay it a patch or something? Or maybe make a longer quest chain for the ratniki?
While in itself the story was fine and didn't feel forced, it fell flat because of trying to put something where it didn't belong.
WQ has always been this insane lore dump through a background plot that makes you grasp the world better. The 6.0 ones built up the mystery really well, but then the 6.3 one was used for another purpose, leaving us with little lore development. Most of it being at the end on a 5 minute scene.
While I see why they've done it like this, I can't help but hope that this is an exception, not a new trend like they shove SQ in the AQ.
Anyway, I'm curious about what other people think. Especially lore players who have been starved for 2 whole patches just for some crumbs now.
Admittedly tho, the AQ has much more lore and there was some in events so I guess it balances out in a way?

For the rest of the region playthrough the quests kept blocking each other, so I had to do both piecemeal. So purely from this angle the quests were designed poorly.
Story-wise the WQ was fine. Felt like the character story quests Hoyo usually does, only unvoiced. I personally like this approach more than having some forgettable random-ass NPC as the main character.
Maybe that broke the immersion a bit too now that I think about it. Or at least contributed to not feeling hooked
I love illuga and i love the radniki. I think introducing someone that way is way better than for them to randomly pop up.
What i didnt like is that it feels huge and threatening, yet the real threat rerir is dealt with. I know the wild hunt was there before rerir, but everything that happens now is kinda dull? Like, where were they all when he happened?
I really liked that we got glimpse of his past and i hope that we get to know him more.
What i disliked is that flins was just mentioned.
As for Illuga's personal story quest, I'm fine with it, he is a 4\* after all and wasn't really part of the main Archon quest except as a short cameo. So having his personal story in the world quest seems like a nice way to integrate him into the world. Problem is that a lot of people would prefer it if world quests were opt in instead of automatically triggering coz they don't want to do long narrative quests while just exploring the world of Teyvat.
By this I mean it the way it had been done with Illuga.
This goes into what I was saying with limited time and resources. A lot if the things that have been introduced in 6.0 that you mentioned are developed in 6.3 in just a couple of minutes here and there. The rest of the time is used for Illuga's development.
Were those two separate quests, I feel like both could have been really good. Yet combining them turned the lore insights into small crumbs, and I feel like since I was looking for lore yet being stuck with Illuga, I didn't get to enjoy his story either.
During the quest I kept expecting a reveal that we focus on Illuga because there will be an insane deep lore reveal regarding him. I guess is is more so a bad aftertaste after it ended and I realized I wasn't left with any insane questions like in previous WQs
That being said, introducing a playable character in a WQ turned out well with Citlali. The focus didn't shift on her, but she played an important supportive role. That also worked because her character had already been developed tho
At the very least his story quest is tied directly to the world, the consequences of the quest itself is seen in the changes it brings to the overworld. Unlike a lot of the older story quests which are basically just self-contained stories in single-use domains and the world doesn't change after that.
