A Wild Theory....!!!!!
I’ll get straight to the point-
During Natlan Act 5, did you notice how Ronova was silent and didn't even seem to acknowledge Paimon? If she were Asmoday, Ronova should have noticed her in fact she likely would have tried to bring Paimon back to her. Since that didn't happen, that theory doesn't hold up at all.
Now, after Act 8 of Nod-krai if the theories are right it makes sense that if Paimon is a projection or the sentient side of the spaceship AI (in other words a different aspect of the "Primordial One"), the Shades wouldn't be able to interfere with whatever the AI or the PO is planning. This would leave them unable to even see Paimon.
Furthermore, if the AI itself is this powerful then the civilization it originated from (the Siblings' home planet) must be at least a Type III civilization on the Kardashev scale. If such a civilization was destroyed, I don't think the Abyss was responsible. As we’ve seen, the AI is already capable of fending off the Abyss in Teyvat.
We know how genshin has many references to H.P. Lovecraft’s cosmic horrors, and we just got a cosmic horror related World Quest in Nod-krai titled "The Color Out of Space," which is a direct nod to Lovecraft. I believe it's these specific cosmic forces that actually destroyed Aether and Lumine's original civilization.
