I can confidently say you never have once. You likely were at like 80, did a 10 pull, got it at early 80's and just count it as 90.

When during that 10 pull matters for this question. The end screen of a 10 pull sorts to put the 5 stars at the front, regardless of which pull you got it on, but its immensely more likely you got it on the 81st pull than the 90th pull.

I never really thought about it like that before now. I spent 90 wishes and got the five star, so I always considered it the same. I’m not sure as to when exactly. I wish I could look at my wish history for longer than the current time because I definitely can remember getting a five star when doing a 10 pull at 80 a couple of times. Well, it isn't, because when you check wish history you'll see you have already got some pity after the 5 star. So you're already closer to your next one.
A ten pull is just ten single pulls in a row, displayed all at once. It doesn't mean it *literally* takes you all ten wishes.

1:14 million 5-stars goes to 90 pity, which also means almost 1:1 ***B***illion wishes). Anyone in comments who says they did are mistaken, miscounted, or just lying. It took until Inazuma for the first confirmed case of someone going to 90 and there was even a cash bounty.

I guess I am a lucky one then. During fontane I went exactly 90 pity for Xianyun. I've been playing since launch and that was the first time it happened.

Same, C2 Columbina made me reach 88, ngl, I was impatiently waiting an hour after pulling to see how far I'd gotten, I whale (not like full but a handful of C6 and a lot of C2s) and I'd never gone past like 80.
I actually felt disappointed when I saw the 88, what was two more pulls at that point for a reverse luck achievement.

90 pity is not reachable. I don't remember the exact numbers, but when soft pity starts the probability to get a 5\* get up by around 7% each time so let say pity 74 probability is 7%, pity 75 probability is 14% and this go up till it get to 100% or above and it was iirc pity 88.

That's the weapon banner you're thinking of. For whatever reason it works a little differently so there's been no verified pulls past 88, but people can and have (extraordinarily rarely) made it to 90 on the character banner.

Ooooh I really remember counting to 90. Must've been 89? It was 2021 all 3 times, Qiqi Zhongli and Yoimiya, never happened again after that. I have no way of checking because the old records are deleted :/

Those who claim they did may use a wish tracker site but they forget to import their wishes for a few months which means the history of the wishes they made in that gap is permanently lost including any 5 stars. They don't actually know their starting pity without those wishes.
