TIL Getting a constellation for an already C6 character from the "To Temper Thyself and Journey Far" event does not give you 25 Starglitters (=5 pulls for any banner) unlike from pulling in a banner.

Essentially, the title.

But for some context, I was collecting all the possible pulls and primogems for Columbina since I lost my 50/50 on her but still had leftovers+new map and other achievements. And although I got her early yesterday morning by surprise, I still kept my selector on my C6 Qiqi, thinking that even those loose 5 pulls might save the day when I actually need it since I already collected Albedo's C1 from the event and other characters weren't interesting for me yet.

And lo and behold, when I collected my C10(?) Qiqi today, I only got that 90+ leveling material and no starglitters. Painful? Yeah, I could've C1'd my Baizhu/Nilou/Ganyu/anyone else for that matter. But at the end of the day, I just learned my lesson and will be wise for future. And hey, if I'll have a second favourite character to 95lvl them, I'll have the material lol.

Yeah I haven't had the opportunity to read the "fine print" and just assumed things. But hey, at the end of the day, I got some MSF for future characters. Thanks for the heads-up!

No I don't, and you can never know when those potential 5 pulls might save your day by completing your 90 pity or just surprise 5\*. Please don't assume things about people based on their experiences without hearing from themselves first. Thanks!

tbf there's a good chance none of the limited 5\*s you own are on there. I can literally only choose standard characters, might as well get the MSF.

I'd also understand that choice, I'd prefer a small stat increase for a character I actually play over a con for one I don't.

I use all my limited characters in IT (ok except for Cyno. He felt awful to play and I shouldn’t have pulled him just for his cool ult animation). They’re characters I pulled intentionally and therefore are fully built and (at least for older ones) have pretty decent artifacts. So I would still get some benefit from those cons even if I don’t use those characters in abyss anymore.

I actually own a lot of those 5\* characters BUT I didn't actively need them, and guaranteeing my Columbina and/or just getting spare pulls were more precious to me as an F2P with a long list of characters to pull for. A matter of priorities, I'd say, but to each their own I guess.

Jokes aside, it's actually *better* to get certain early constellations on older characters (Nilou's, Baizhu's, Hu Tao's Ganyu's and updated Albedo's C1s are the first to come to mind) since they permanently upgrade characters. But at the moment, I glanced over my pulling plans for Nod Krai and future goals in Snezhnaya and unreleased/planned characters, and getting Columbina later in her eventual rerun around 6.6-6.7 is just too costly for me. Nefer, Skirk, Varka, Nicole, Sandrone - and everyone else that is too old but still on my list AND unreleased, makes too much of a cost for an F2P like me. So yeah, something like this.

cuz it depends on what limited characters you have

and the problem is that most early characters have cons that pretty much do nothing

yoimiya c1 literally does nothing, like actually nothing

my other options are ganyu ayaka (her c1 isn't that good anyway) which i don't play either of them and ayato, which gives him a small dmg increase but its ayato bruh

i went for c7 tighnari to get my arle to 95 which is probably more dmg than characters i don't play/use for hard content anyway

Most people have between 0 - 2 of those lvl cap breaker thingies and they're the most hard to get ressource in the game for them.

Even as a low spender I got exactly 0 when their update came around. Had to use my anniversay pick to get my very first (original wanted to get Mizuki which I am now still missing) and got my second from the first season of this journey event.

"Luckily" I only have a single 5* at C6 (Jean) so I could finally pick a con this time

I don’t have them either but I see them more as just something so when you do get C7 it doesn’t feel AS bad as it used to. I still don’t get people intentionally going for those instead of actual cons.

Yes it was but with my busy schedules and studies I just didn't have the opportunity to check on the fine print earlier. But hey, I am not sad or anything over such trivial stuff, and technically I still got something out of it. So yes, no hard feelings!

I don’t understand this. You have the time to play that game regularly for over a month but not enough to spend less than a minute making sure that you’re not about to waste some of that time spent by making a choice that won’t get you what you want?

Yes, I play this game regularly, but:
1) I don't even play much per day because, again, I'm busy and even on my weekends and free time I have too many irl stuff happening to allocate time for technical queries;
2) I just made an assumption that it might be the same as pulling a C6+ character from a banner and didn't even think of researching this because in my mind I kinda already accepted the worst outcome before it happened.

Otherwise, for a considerably invested and integrated player, you are correct in your judgement. But alas, irl life just takes better of me in terms of energy and time.
