So we know varka left mond 6 months before the game starts (jeans voicelines), and that diluc came back after it (dilucs story). In manga, Lisa said that crepus died three years ago (which was also the time diluc has left mond, and we know he was 18 back then), and since there is no varka in manga, we can say that it is happening less than six months before the game events. But still, why are people saying it could happen 1 year - 6 months before? How, if it is said that diluc came back after varka has left, and he appears in manga also as a darknight hero. Idk how it works, can someone explain the correct timeline to me pls

The manga was just written early while certain parts of Genshin's story were not yet finalized/ got retconned

So there are some inconsistencies that just are with no in-lore solution

It's best not to think too hard about specific numbers when it comes to the timelines. As long as you know that event X came before event Y and after event Z, that's good enough.

It gets even worse if you factor in the passage of time in the actual game. Have five years passed since we've celebrated five Lantern Rites? Why haven't any of the children, playable or not, grown?

The game is just in a sort of timey-wimey soup. It's noteworthy that basically all the specific numbers stopped happening after version 1.0 of the game... Keeping track of stuff like that just wasn't something the writers wanted to deal with.

Big, vague numbers like 500 years ago, 6000 years ago and so on are fine.
