Why I can't take Mika and Cyno seriously in Moroccan Darija ๐
I was just thinking about how some Genshin names hit very differently in Moroccan Darija dialect.
โIf youโre playing the game and speak Darija, these two are basically a comedy duo:
โMika (ู ููุง): Literally means "Plastic Bag." Every time he shows up on screen to do his "Frontline Surveyor" duties, I don't see a knight; I just see a black plastic bag from the store around the corner.
โCyno (ุณุงููู): Sounds exactly like "Saino," which means "Wait" or "Wait for him." Since the root ุณุงูู (Sain) means "Wait," itโs hard to take the General Mahamatra seriously when it sounds like his name is just a constant instruction to hold on a second.
โAre there any other characters that sound like random objects or common words in your dialect ?
