What signature weapon main stat do you prefer a dps to have between crit rate and crit dmg?
I was thinking about what's generally better for a signature for a dps on the toilet and I personally think Crit rate is better since it'll be easier to build them without worrying about having too little crit rate

If it's a lunar DPS you definitely want crit damage because you get a lot of crit rate from artefacts already, for example. Same with a cryo DPS because of cryo resonnance.
I think overall it's easier to deal with a crit damage weapon then fine tune crit rate with artefacts depending on needs, because you can never really have too much crit damage, but you can overcap crit rate.
I've honestly really liked the kits of characters in Nod krai it's made them by far the easiest characters to build and especially with the amount of weapons they can use they're far more f2p friendly
Typically, a crit rate weapon creates a lower investment floor for making the character good while a crit dmg weapon is better at very high investment.
Night sky gives 30% CR and can be used by all on field dps whose team has two Nod Krai characters. Obsidian gives 40% CR and can be used by all Natlan on field dps. Marec hunter gives 36% CR and can be used by all on field dps whose team uses Furina or the dps can consume own HP frequently. Blizzard gives max 40% CR if the target is frozen. Cryo resonance gives 15% CR. Some characters gain CR from ascension, and a few characters also has team CR buff.
In pre-Fontaine versions, there may be more characters who prefer CR weapon than because CR sources are relatively rare. But since Fontaine versions, most dps may just use marec hunter, obsidian or night sky who provides a large CR buff. Using CR weapon means they can overcap their CR easily, and they are forced to always use CD circlet. If they use CD weapon, they can choose CR or CD circlet depends on what substats they have in other pieces, and it is easier to farm and get better overall crit value.
For newer DPS and freeze, crit dmg is usually the way to go. Especially after Fontaine. Blizzard Strayer, Marechausee Hunter, Obsidian Codex, and Night Sky make it so much easier to get crit rate now. Sometimes I overcap when it comes to Natlan and Nod Krai DPSes.
For example, a Natlan DPS with 4pc Obsidian + Crit rate circlet is already gonna be at 76.1% crit rate. A DPS holding Night Sky and with ascendant gleam on the team + CR circlet is getting 66.1% crit rate at base.
Even for a character like Durin, his new set (Rising Winds) gives him 20% crit rate, putting him at 56.1% with a cr circlet.
This is all without even considering substats. You can still justify a CR weapon on Durin since 56.1% is a bit low and he gets a CD ascension, but for Nod Krai and Natlan DPSes you almost always want a CD weapon.
Heck, Columbina ascends with CR so any main DPS Bina players have an incredibly easy time maxing out her CR - she is at 85.3% with a CR circlet, and her passive gives her up to 15%, so she is actually overcapping with Night Sky and zero CR substats. You can arguably even run a CD circlet and CD weapon (her sig) if you have decent enough CR rolls.
Additionally there are plenty of skills that give CR like Cryo Resonance, Mona C4, etc. Plus recently some of the NK buffs give party wide or on-fielder CR like C6 Jahoda and C6 Illuga. Seeing that you start at 5% by default, many DPS characters ascend with CR or have CR buffs on their weapons even if their secondary stat is CD and you're likely to overcap. All of this combined makes CD weapons post-Sumeru more worthwhile.
That said, signatures always have the opposite crit stat from the character's ascension bonus, so I would prefer the weapon have crit damage so that the crit chance can live with the character themselves, allowing more diverse weapon options.
