hasn't happened to me, but I also don't give any company my card numbers directly
my Spending is mainly through PP or Virtual generated card numbers where I have full control

Pretty sure the Hong Kong charge is just the loot bar service fee as a separate line item
Cyberchimp1232026-01-24 03:29
The service fee is added to the final price before you pay, it's not separate. Lootbar is also based in Singapore, not Hong Kong.
I've been using them for a year without any problems, no idea what OP is talking about.

I went back and checked and I think it’s actually a foreign transaction fee on my card. I have it each of the two days I used lootbar and the same amount each time.
Cyberchimp1232026-01-24 03:56
Interesting, do they not have your local currency available? You can select it at the top of the website. I'm in England and paid in GBP without any extra fees.
CanaKitty2026-01-24 04:11
I definitely paid in USD. But I looked it up and my stupid debit card bank charges a percentage fee on any international based transaction. So it’s likely OP might have run into something like that. Annoying, but ultimately still a savings to use lootbar for me even with the extra bit spent.
lostiming2026-01-24 04:45
Shouldn't the extra bank fee be charged by your bank from where your bank is from instead of from HK?
GenshinfinityYoutube2026-01-24 03:22
So... Did they loot you?...
Maleficent_Olive64002026-01-24 03:55
Did you contact with your bank or their cs knowing what happen first?
I didnt see kind of your issue happen on my bank. Neither my frd said....

They're not random, depending on what bank you use it's quite explicit.
My bank lists those as "processing fees for payment outside of the EU zone" ~~so I assume it's a matter of Lootbar shows the price in your currency but in reality they charge you in whatever their currency is, so there is still a price conversion. Still a dick move, feel free to contact them about it,~~ so it's just your.bank charging you a fee for using your card outside of where it's intented, and you can probably bypass that by using paypal or another third party, but it's not your card leaking and being used by other people.
