The collateral damage would be catastrophic (and would most likely kill Columbina) but still
**– Columbina Hyposelenia, probably** 🥲
In this case, the world formula created a new prediction that Columbina would be ressurected and then grafted that prediction into the current reality.
The three key events you need for columbina to be reborn is to have her soul, her body (nod krai) and the moon re-unite.
Well the frost moon has been flung outside of teyvat's firmament, so in every instance of teyvat's history there are 0 possible futures where the frost moon can break through the firmament and re-unite with nod krai and lunotaar.
Unless if you factor in a foreign variable with the traveler. Sandrone re-calculated all possible futures of how to get columbina back with the traveler present, and her world formula predicted that dottore performing his grand experiment on the traveler and ripping a tear in the firmament were the exact conditions needed for her world formula to come true. The progress bar was an accuracy checker for how close they were reaching the future of columbina being revived, and with it reaching 100% it means they satisfied the conditions of columbina's revival.
The critical moment was making sure the traveler was keeping dottore's attention while nicole, varka, and arleccino were in position to bring the moon down and break through the weakened firmament. Anyone else would've been effortlessly defeated, but dottore has an obsession with the traveler that allowed sandrone's prediction to come true.
Sandrone probably also predicted her own death, and still sacrificed herself so columbina can come back.
most ppl would say hes doing it to aura farm and they just took advantage of it. ngl it was pretty cool
MurderofBirds says he opened the sky to use the power of the moon to effectively create a dream-world where they won, thus becoming a Descender whose will rivals this new dream world of his own creation. The theory of the dream world comes form the fact that Dottore had some side projects in Sumeru where he was trying to kidnap Aranara to research on, as they are the closest beings to dreams.
Although with Sandrone's world formula calculations, there's a possibility that the team already knew where to position themselves to drag down the moon, or rather they intended to drag down the moon regardless of where it was.
Personally, given Teyvat's "fate" is in part controlled by irminsul, which is basically a tree computer, I think Sandrone's formula worked more like a kind of spell, or executable Irminsul program, which allowed the Frostmoon to be reconnected/reintegrated into the logic of Teyvat. The only explanation given was that Sandrone said it would "connect them to Columbina (the frost moon)" and that after that. They would be able to pull the moon down into the false sky, so that's my best guess at how it worked.
This was one of the objectives of Simulanka for the Hexenzirkel: to create a small-scale model of Teyvat (Constellation Metropole) and see if deliberate changes to the "story" there would affect the fate of Teyvat as a whole. The crux of this experiment was Mini-Durin, and this eventually succeeded in *Paralogism* as the story of Mini-Durin successfully changed the fate of Dragonspine Durin being resurrected (with some caveats that needed to be solved in his Story Quest).
René tried to do much the same. He created the World-Formula, a ritual capable of calculating the entire fate of Teyvat, and then tried to change and add variables to change that fate so the Fontaine Prophecy didn't come to pass, after which he would use the Chymical Marriage ritual to replace the fate of Teyvat with this new fate he had calculated.
Except it didn't work as Irminsul would redirect fate onto its proper path no matter what, leading René to conclude that a Descender, capable of changing fate, was necessary to create successful changes. So he tried to turn to turn himself into a Descender by becoming Narzissenkreuz and erasing his own ego, which he viewed as holding him back, which ended... poorly.
Sandrone here was trying to do the same. She used the World-Formula to calculate the fate of Teyvat, and then tried to amend it to create a fate where Columbina would be revived and return to them. Lumine, as a Descender, was necessary to cause the changes that would make this fate actually possible, which is why the final 10% of output had to be done by her. And with this calculation complete fate was successfully replaced, allowing for the revival of Columbina and the acceptance of the New Moon within Teyvat.
The game showed the progression bar as if the result was going to be a printout of Teyvat's fate, when in reality it was the progress of the butterfly effect chain of events she had already had put in motion.
Imagine if you rolled a bunch of dice, but you wanted a very specific result from that roll. Instead of rolling a million times until you get what you want, you calculate the initial conditions necessary for the roll (dice orientation, position, strength of the throw, angle of the throw, etc) and adjust your throw to be exactly that. But that only leads you so far if you don't have the dice tray in the right position at the right time. Here, Traveler is the one adjusting the dice, Sandrone makes the throw, and the Moon is the dice tray that needs to be under the False Sky for it all to work.
You can look back on the Tulpa, one of its boss mats is literally called “Water that failed to transcend” this was one of the early works of the Word formula done by Rene. Sandrone refined this method
What it did was once the formula reached 90% it connected both Luonnotar (who had columbina’s soul and the Columbina who had all those memories by then) and Columbina in a different form of reality as the Khuuvaki in Nod Krai
The last 10% was pulling down the moon with the trilune authority.
Since the Frost Moon is columbina’s body and gnosis equivalent.
This let her reunite with her body and the Trilune authority hidden from it (that she gave from past Teyvat) back into the world.
Luonnotar was the waypoint for her soul trapped in the Moon Prison to get back at that moment in time.
Plus most of her soul already being poured in Nod Krai with her Divinity. So all that’s left was the authority. If we look back the moon goddesses disappeared when they gave their specific authorities to Columbina. So to bypass this she killed herself so she can move to a different plane of reality and gave her moon the authority.
So at that moment
Her soul mixed with her Divinity as a goddess poured in Nod Krai, her soul way point with Luonnotar to get her in that specific time. The frost moon inside the world as her body anchor and with it the trilune authority to combine her back into one.
The world formula on its own is a spell describing the fate of Teyvat, but by introducing the right variables outside of the world (I.e. Descenders), it can drastically change to a spell that rewrites fate/reality. Sandrone processing the world formula wasn’t her figuring out what it is, but rather processing the spell to take effect.
Traveler‘s role is mainly as the Descender-variable, as well as being the de-facto anchor for Columbina to return (they‘re the closest person to Columbina, next to Sandrone), hence why Sandrone sacrificed herself to save Traveler; she bought as much time as possible so Traveler is alive for the spell to take effect.
Also, Traveler and Lauma, who have better compatibility than Varka, probably needed to put up a front to sideline Dottore with the Frost Moon.
In short, it’s a spell to rewrite fate/reality if variables such as a Descender are introduced. The reason Sandrone went out to face Dottore in the first place was because the entire plan hinged on Traveler holding out long enough for it to be completed, otherwise the only variable dies and Columbina can’t return.
Had Sandrone either stayed, or left Wanderer‘s core at the base, she‘d have risked Dottore finding it first and destroying it, and evidently her sacrifice saved Traveler from certain death/capture.
I meant, the "How combine Columbina back" thing wasn't explained too well in the story apart from where Columbina's components are.
It's a nice touch
