I haven't completed the world quest in the new area, so I may be outdated. But I think we will get info about our swords when we find Red Miller's treasure. I think that is our sword.
Remember how Kayea talk about his grandfather is a crew of some kind and talk about a incredibly powerful sword. I think that swords is the travelers.

Never. Prototype Rancour is their new favorite. It even has a small rope hanging from its hilt. The old sword didn't have that.

I like to assume that when we were trapped by the Heavenly Principles, we were separated from our sword and it was lost just somewhere in Teyvat. It's probably just somewhere hidden or in the possession of someone else.
Honestly, I don't remember why we were in that beach in Mondstadt to begin with. It's probably the same for our sword. It's just somewhere random or perhaps it's just somewhere in Mondsadt too.

The game has confirmed several times that Traveler and Paimon canonically meet in Mondstadt after Traveler fished her out of Starloam Beach. The in-game cutscene showing Guyun Stone Forest is most definitely a remnant of early writing stages that never got re-done.
The first cutscene shows Traveler drawing their life story \*in the sand\*, because at that point in the game they were barely able to speak Teyvatian (or whatever the common language is). Paimon teaching the Traveler the common language happens throughout the game, off-screen, from Day 1 of the story (and you can infer that Traveler was able to pick up enough of the language in their first conversations).

Actually if you notice in the intro cuscene, when Asmoday captures the sibling but your character quickly flies back, they leave their sword behind, and it gets taken by Asmoday. The sibling, meanwhile, was never separated from their sword.

I cant imagine we would have this weapon at any point unrelated to Khaenriah. Kaeya mentioned his grandfather hearing stories or seeing a sword falling from the sky, so I imagine it is a strongly Khaenriah lore-specific weapon at this point.
EDIT: IT BETTER BE 5* HYV I S2G! AND BUFF ALL OF TRAVELER TO MAKE THEM MORE VIABLE IN EACH ELEMENTS ROLE! I WANT A DISCERTATION OF BUFFS ON THIS WEAPON!

I just said related to Khaenriah, it could happen in any of the regions we've come across in Teyvat, Im just saying close to the Khaenriah patch 8.X or further since thats the last chapter revealed in the Teyvat Chapter teaser that Genshin put out when the game was first released. I assume itll be a nice way to wrap up this first chapter of Genshin Impact.
