Hot take
As a long time player (since public release) I miss when Genshin felt like a game, and not a cashgrab :(
The only reason I play anymore is because I want to see the main story thru.
Any1 remember theater mechanicus? The first windbloom festival? Events that you actually had to work for, not just grabbing coins or being locked behind building your entire character base?
Idk I just wish there wasn't so much fomo being theown in my face.

While yes events have stopped being fun "lore" wise and feel like just getting free primos, i personally enjoyed the recent saurian ones and it was fun to do challenges with them.
The photo event is starting to get better. Hopefully the camera will be as detailed as infinity nikki's eventually. Permanent features start from events afterall.
As for the fomo, the only fomo i see is they added more primos so speedrunners get something. The rewards are the exact same if you didn't bother doing it.
Event weapons, it's the same too.
It's all old player nostalgia but to say the old days were better is just wrong. I'm also a day 1 player. I'm not gonna do 4 commissions to do my daily and get locked with 120 resin.
Then it's paywalled XD
We already know people complained a lot early game about difficulty of puzzles, so I think it's safe to assume Theatre Mechanicus also didn't have a good reception as people might think it had, that's why it never came back after Sumeru. Hoyo has the data after all, they know how much players interact with each part of the game.
But I don't know what you mean about FOMO. Wasn't Theatre Mechanicus also a FOMO event? It was time limited and with gated rewards, just like every event ever, from 6 years ago or from today.
