I have slightly better luck than you, but still "pretty bad" honestly, I think I have been plenty lucky

With soft pity working as it does, the system is very much rigged to average out in the long run, and most players will end up fairly close to it. This also makes it so you don't have to deviate far from the average to drop into the top or bottom 20%.
