Long long ago, a spaceship carrying **the slumbering twins** and the planetary resource allocation AI "**P・A・I・M・O・N** (**P**rimordial **A**lgorithm of **I**ntransient **M**atrix of **O**verseer **N**etwork)" arrived at a planet called **Teyvat**. Having lost their home planet, they were in search of a new place to live.
>**The first customer** was a deity who had been drifting around since her home planet was destroyed. She spoke to the shopkeeper about the fickle nature of the cosmos, as well as her affection for the life on her former planet.
This deity was actually **an** **artificial intelligence**, created by the intelligent species of the planet to optimize resource allocation on a planetary level.

>It had journeyed through countless worlds and endless distances, surveying every kind of terrain and gazing upon skies tinted in different colors.
This might sound romantic, but in reality, the matter was closer to torture than adventure.
It also once pictured a scene like this: **Twins** standing under the radiant night sky, their eyes shining as they watched the stars and the many moons above.
But it immediately disconnected its idea association module. A sky with such colors only meant that the atmosphere was unfit for life. After witnessing such vistas hundreds of times, there was no longer any need to be moved by them.
It did not wake **the slumbering twin travelers**. Instead, it carried the weight of an exile and a journey so long that numbers had lost their meaning.
—*As Heaven and Earth Are Made Anew*
**P・A・I・M・O・N** had a magnificent plan. She intended to recreate their home planet on this planet called Teyvat. She would then have **the twins** travel across this planet, and once they had grown, they would become the "**Gods**" of this world.
>The Primordial One had **a sacred plan** for humans.

**P・A・I・M・O・N** thought, *What does the great journey need?* She prepared **the best guide**. She set up **Teleport Waypoints** so the journey would be easy. She fixed any glitches that arose, distributed items, and sent frequent messages.

# P・A・I・M・O・N = Triangle
**P·A·I·M·O·N** must be very similar to **A·S·I·M·O·N**, and surely has a **triangular** shape. The triangles seen throughout Teyvat probably represent P·A·I·M·O·N.

And the device that **Dottore**, who has now gained power comparable to the **Heavenly Principles**, was holding also featured a **triangular** design. He might have used **P·A·I·M·O·N** as a reference when creating this device.

And the fact that **Simulated Universe** appearing in H: SR has an atmosphere similar to A·S·I·M·O·N might suggest that **Teyvat** exists in a virtual space managed by **P·A·I·M·O·N**.

# The First Descender ≠ P・A・I・M・O・N ?
>**Nahida:** My current hypothesis is that the "**First Descender**" was likely what we now call the **Heavenly Principles**.
Hmm, I believe that the true identity of HP/Phanes/Pitkamoonen is P・A・I・M・O・N, but I find it doubtful that the First Descender was P・A・I・M・O・N. I think the first guest who appears in the *Wings of Delicacies* story represents the First Descender, and since that first guest is referred to as “**she**,” it is highly likely that the First Descender was **female**.
>The first customer was a deity who had been drifting around since **her** home planet was destroyed. **She** spoke to the shopkeeper about the fickle nature of the cosmos, as well as **her** affection for the life on **her** former planet.
—*Wings of Delicacies*
However, both **Phanes** and **Pitkamoonen** are described as having an **unknown gender**. If they are considered to be AIs, an unknown gender would not be surprising. But does this mean that the Heavenly Principles is not the First Descender?
>"On Phanes, or The Primordial One"
The Primordial One may have been Phanes. It had wings and a crown, and was birthed from an egg, **androgynous** in nature.

>Prayer Song I: Pitkamoonen, Lord of the Seven Calamities
O god of **gender unknowable**, we plead that you turn from the mortal realm and the children of the farthest north.

And if the story of Remuria is a metaphor for the story of Teyvat, and **Phobos** is a metaphor for **P・A・I・M・O・N**, then there must be a counterpart to **Remus**. Could it be that she is the First Descender?

Oh no, not the Pitkamoonenrs aii
Hmm...🤔
Pitkamoonen is the 'supreme Lord of the Sky, merciless and indomitable, Father of All and Mother of the Gods'
The letters used for the transliteration of Pitkamoonen, Pàikǎiméngníng (派凱蒙宁), are Pài (派) and Méng (蒙), which also make up Pàiméng (派蒙) (Paimon)
The HP are a terraforming AI dispatched by the ship when it briefly slowed down on the first fly over of Teyvat.
The task was to prepare the planet for the arrival of it's masters, aka the twins, who would then take over and oversee the rest of the work to rebuild their civilization after the HP had finished the first couple of steps.
The intro is us witnessing a huge mistake on part of the shades. The AI was badly damaged after the war against Nibelung and knew it had to go offline. Yet it also know that it's masters may arrive before it is back online.
Afraid that the masters, twins, survey the planet, get no response from their AI unit and leave due to considering the mission a failure, it instructed the shades to not let them leave.
But the shades misinterpreted the orders and instead of greeting them subservient as their true masters and inviting them to celestia in a triumphant welcome, they attacked instead.

* Paimon: “You must forge past obstacles three times for good fortune to succeed on the fourth. Paimon thinks this should be called the Rule of Four instead!”
There's also the fact that over in Honkai Impact 3rd, Dvalin showed up on a computer monitor in one static cutscene IIRC.
However, as much as the virtual space idea definitely makes sense (the fact cubes tend to be a reoccuring motif I.E. Dottore splitting the false sky), the existence of other worlds and characters from those worlds would mean a whole universe is simulated as opposed to just one planet. Chiefly, the existence of Skirk and that big star whale being tied to Surtalogi, who himself got bored of Teyvat and has been absent this whole time.
There also is the problem with Irmansul recognizing Traveler as the 4th descender, but the Abyss Twin is NOT recognized as such. Unless the Abyss Twin was present for the formation of Irmansul to begin with or was altered by a higher power.
Anyway, indeed, there are a lot of unanswered questions still assuming this is the path.
In general, I do think the idea of HP being some sort of computer/AI makes a lot of sense, as it's fairly clear that the world is governed by a sort of computer program.
Assuming this is true, I imagine that the Paimon we know in-game is more like... a small figment/fragment of P・A・I・M・O・N that lost her memories. I suppose, perhaps, given the overall insinuation that HP may be dying, perhaps this Paimon is basically like a Guoba version of the original P・A・I・M・O・N, but still has this instinct that draws them to the Traveler to help support their journey (their original, primordial, objective).
A big question to resolve about this theory would be: why the big difference in the treatment between the two siblings? The Traveler is on the hero's journey, while the Sibling appears stuck in a sort of perpetual purgatory mourning the loss of Khaenri'ah. The latter also seems to be "part of the simulation" whereas only the Traveler is considered a proper Descender. You'd have to factor in Asmoday's actions at the start of the game; preventing the Twins from trying to leave may well be the will of P・A・I・M・O・N (since this is the final destination they found for the Twins), but perhaps things aren't exactly going to plan? Perhaps P・A・I・M・O・N got eroded by the Abyss, and the Paimon we know is the small fragment that made it out?
Anyway, it's an interesting theory. It's clear that Paimon's identity (or past identity/origin) is going to be important to the plot at some point, and having it by tied to the Heavenly Principles (so something that gets revealed when we get to Celestia) makes the most narrative sense.
