Even as an on-field driver or enabler, his team utility is/was lacking. He's an old character, so it's from a time when Hoyo was making Swiss Army Knives instead of characters with specialized roles (see Fischl's charged attack passive for Oz), but considering that he dropped alongside Heart of Depth, and that his kit is focused around his *own* attacks, I find it really hard to believe that DPS wasn't the intention.
It's why Ayato was able to eventually push him out of those comps and make his teams heavily focus on AoE with riptide chains instead.

Albedo revamp with an Albedo banner pleeeeeease Hoyo! I have been waiting since I joined in January 2023 for an Albedo banner, he’s the **only** event exclusive character not to have an event banner in that time, and he’s always been one of my favourites 😭

I still somewhat recall a cutscene during the beetle event where they had itto look more intimidating towards an npc so they angled the camera in such a way that he looks much larger than he actually is. iirc itto was even standing on a small rock but hid the legs so it isn't obvious.

Cyno also comments on alhaitham calling himself a 'feeble scholar'. He´s a lot stronger than his occupation would suggest, likely stronger than itto.

Hot take, But I actually like Itto the way he looks. It's akin to a smaller dog having the biggest ego, but not the body to back it up; which tends to be Itto to a Tee. Itto would be a Shonen protagonist, not the beast character.
