Finished the latest AQ, and while I highly enjoyed it, I find myself missing simpler times.
I don't really know how to put it, but I had a moment while chillin on the moon with Columbina looking at Teyvat where I thought "wow. crazy to think 5 years ago I was just helping a funny wind guy save his hurting dragon and looking for my lost sibling"
Now I know Genshin has had increasing complexity and weirdness over time since the start, as any good story does, but I guess lately it's just started to feel different. I've always believed there will be a "crucial moment" in the Genshin story that changes everything and it's never the same after, and I still think we haven't reached that yet.
I guess all I'm hoping is that the game always feels more fantasy than science fiction, if that makes sense.
NONETHELESS, I'm having a blast every new AQ and I love this game. I'm here for the ride to the end. I'm wondering how y'all are feeling about the story direction and any fun theories you have post Act 8.

Actually though, I will try to remember this post in 5 years so I can come see how right you were lol.
1st Mission: Deliver a Sandwich.
Last Mission: Kill the God of All Creation.
TBH the spaceship key reveal was it for me. It is not like the game wasn't planning to go into this stuff, but from the point where we had the key reveal it definitely started to lean heavily into the honkai-like elements and moved away from its vibes that are more unique to Genshin
>started to lean heavily into the honkai-like elements
Agreed, though I've been prepared/expecting honkai to interlink with Genshin at some point, I rather enjoy it being it's own thing. I hope it can keep that identity.
It just keeps one-upping itself in terms of stakes, so you kinda get used to it.
One can only hope not 😂
That's a fair point though. Seems more likely.
Of course I did enjoy the whole Dottore thing but since I only pulled for Flins... I'm not going to battle him for drops. It was still fun in the story. Just not...into Columbina so this had been a pain imo I jokingly ran back to Inazuma to apologize to Ayaka for all these cringing quests with Columbina 🤣
I know people love/adore her and I support all that pull her but she's just not for me.
I do want that lunar crystalize for my Zhongli but no. He can deal without if it's only from her. 😂
Genshin is still very much fantasy. But like other Eastern fantasy stories, it doesn't adhere to the "medieval stasis" trope that Western fantasy stories stick to. There were already a lot of "sci fi" elements present in the game from the start, such as the mention of technology from different countries.
That's fine with me, and I agree the game still feels very much fantasy. It's just a hope for the future that it stays that way. Technology hasn't bothered me much so far, except for the travelers spaceship. I'm wary of that for now.
