you know sonnet is a poem right, because he’s a bard
Zephyr_ta2026-01-24 20:05
Shushhhh
Let me be delusional
BOOTYHOLE-DESTROYER22026-01-24 20:20
What did you mean though? Why highlight Sonnet
YingXingg2026-01-24 20:25
Sonnet was the name of one of the three moon goddesses iirc. They’re trying to form a connection between venti and the moon goddesses I guess
BOOTYHOLE-DESTROYER22026-01-24 20:30
Ohh thanks, I just came back after like three years of not playing, only just started Natlan so didn't know
HashtagLowElo2026-01-24 21:42
Trying?😭
Boreas was a companion to the first angel, Dragonspine was once inhabited by descendants of Hyperborea, Mondstadt is the Moon City, Moon Sisters were daughters of song, Venti is The God of Song, Sacrificial Fragments have 4 moons on the cover, Istaroth's Lunar Acranum card has her surrounded by different moon phases, Venti casually communicating with a seelie
Even a recent post by the genshin accouns said that a familiar archon has a connection to the hall of angels
carpediemclem2026-01-24 22:28
Yuck
Jaynat_SF2026-01-24 20:32
So many people point towards stuff like this, or the name of "Dream Aria", soon they'll start saying that certain things being considered "Canon" was a reference to the moon sister all along!
Stormer23452026-01-24 21:36
Canon is a musical term btw.
The Three Moon Sisters’ names all refer to music.
Jaynat_SF2026-01-24 21:58
I know, it has more than one meaning. I was joking.
PureMango3252026-01-24 22:14
No way. Do you think Aino's Kuuvahki Cannon is related to Canon??
Canon = Can~~n~~on ***(SHOCKING DISCOVERY)***
Particular_Web32152026-01-25 00:37
funny considering the hyperboreans who eventually became frostmoon scions did build soemthing similiar to aino's cannon in the form of the arrow, which we get to sue in the illuga quest.
HashtagLowElo2026-01-25 06:16
The Moon Sisters are connected to music, described as being daughters of song and Venti is The God of Song.
Songs can be used to change fate.
Sacrificial Fragments has 4 moons on its book cover.
Istaroth being surrounded by different moon phases in her Lunar Acranum card.
The Hymns of The Far North states that Istaroth is the one to look over the 4 imprisoned moons.
HashtagLowElo2026-01-24 21:28
And the description references the moon sisters/angelsm..
HashtagLowElo2026-01-24 21:29
Also moonsisters were described as daughters of song and Venti is the god of song
al_jose3712026-01-25 07:02
Yeah but with Dream Aria and this combined, I'll not be surprised if the moon city connection has something to do with worshippers of the Iridescent moon or something.
MegaAssasine_2026-01-24 20:17
And Zhongli the Archon of the Glazed Moon.

All the moon sisters are named after musical terms.
Aria - a self-contained piece for one voice, with or without instrumental or orchestral accompaniment, normally part of a larger work.
Sonnet - a poem of fourteen lines using any of a number of formal rhyme schemes, in English typically having ten syllables per line.
Canon - a melody with one or more imitations of the melody played after a given duration.
Superbgamer52252026-01-26 07:26
I heard Sonnet was a mistranslation, and that in CN it was more akin to "Sonata". Is this true?
Ke5_Jun2026-01-26 07:33
It’s an interesting theory; in Chinese her name is 桑娜妲 which sounds like “Sanada”.
But it’s worth noting that Chinese is literally the only language that has this pronunciation. Every other language, including JP and KR, have her name as Sonnet.
If it was a mistake, it’s strange they didn’t immediately catch it with Japanese (which is entirely phonetic), and didn’t catch it again for English. So either it’s not a mistake or they just rolled with it.
Superbgamer52252026-01-26 07:45
It definitely fits with the other two music-based names at least. I wonder if it really was a mistake.
Ke5_Jun2026-01-26 08:10
A Sonnet can also be musical. The root word comes from the Italian “sonetto” (little song).
Environmental-Belt492026-01-24 21:56
god forbid we can't use the same word for different meanings.
Jirul112026-01-24 23:01
I agree though I think the moon stuff is really just foundational elements that's why they can be connected to a ton of things in Teyvat.
Specifically regarding your point though while I don't necessarily think that there's some huge meaning behind the connection, names have been established to be very important in the lore and are very much consequential, as per the "Magic of Storytelling" or whatever. Maybe this wasn't a concept fully fleshed out in 1.0 but I think they're committing to that concept now. Who knows if they have something special for Venti though.
Mint-Bentonite2026-01-24 23:40
I think its especially telling with liyue also being another 'moon' themed city (liyue-> 'glossy-like-jade' moon), and chengyu vale having some lore that hints at connecting jade to the moon sister's bodies
HashtagLowElo2026-01-25 06:25
Venti is the God of Song while the Moon Sisters are daughters to song and Istaroth, specifically, was an overseer to the 4 moons based on what was writting in Hymns of The Far North.
Genshin's main theme is called "The Wind and The Star Traveller". People sleep on the importance of Venti in Genshin impact when its so obvious. He's the first archon and he gets so much attention conpared to someone like Raiden
asiangontear2026-01-24 23:13
And EULA also means End User License Agreement, perhaps she's from the Land of Contracts, Liyue?
DonAzoth2026-01-24 23:14
And Zhongli of the Jade Moon City.
Those two f*cker are Up to something.

jesus christ yall are way too dumb
CadetC2026-01-25 01:17
The moon sisters are named after kinds of musical adaptations. I think this is to give them a sort of mytique about their aura, or the appearance similar to the protective gaze of a mother singing her child a lullaby. They watch over teyvat and ensure its inhabitants grow in a safe environment while comforting the world with their presence like a song to a child before bed. Music in this instance conveys pure unromantic love. To care with one's entire being, is how I would put it because that was their purpose. They were the mother to teyvat when the father left for work.
In a similar sense, venti kind of does the same for monstadt. He protects and guides from a distance. It's the freedom a needed in childhood. The freedom to grow and learn from mistakes. That's why I think venti has a similar air about him to that of the moon sisters.
Princess_Moe2026-01-25 03:42
Genshin mfs really will see a word reused in other contexts then put a red circle on it and proceed to explain nothing.
Ofc Mondstadt is moon city, so explain how Sonnet is connected to Venti through 'Skyward Sonnet' other than just "omg same words"??????
Squall27852026-01-25 07:24
Reminder that English words are similar to other English words
