[Spoiler for act 8]
Does anyone else truly hope that Sandrone doesn’t come back? Now, I don’t want any leaks whatsoever.
So this may just be a me thing but I honestly hate that Genshin refuses to allow and repercussions for any of their characters. First there was the possibility of Nefer going blind which never happened and Sandrone “dying” too. It just doesn’t feel real when something like that happens, like when Sandrone died I couldn’t feel sad for her because I knew she wasn’t dead because it’s Genshin Impact.
Like everyone pretty much came out of NodKrai unscathed and it honestly makes the Doctor and Rerir seem pretty weak imo.
Idk, NodKrai is great but the use of plot armor is the most extreme towards the end of Natlan and NodKrai in general. It’s kind of disappointing but since NK isn’t over yet I’m still holding some hope that at least a character can have something negative happen to them and not magically be saved randomly.

Her sacrifice wasn't about her death. It was about her character arc. From how she would never consider sacrificing herself for the sake of others like René.
What I’m saying is that there’s no fear or worry that someone will die because you know they won’t, there’s little to know consequence in this game
Nod krai has been pretty skippable design wise for me outside of Columbina. So I'm basically all in on saving for Sandrone right now.
And her design was so good. I just worry they'll make her a generic tall female model
Like there’s no point in even being sad that she got stabbed by Dottore or them making that scene all dramatic and everyone reacting in shock because we know she’s going to be back and in perfect condition.
It’s just disappointing 😞
It wasn't until after that we found out about her "backup plan" so I disagree.
Also, it's genshin and a gacha....if you're expecting a dark, twisted story full of death and despair for the main cast, you need to fix your expectations. The villains, side characters, and non playable characters will be free to die and dispose of.
I just want some stakes and it’s clear that Genshin has none which honestly just makes me sad.
Yeah, I don’t see how anyone can find Sandrone being “stabbed” sad given the game that they’re playing.
And I know. That's why I literally said in my last comment "it's genshin and gacha".
I was very upset when Sandrone was stabbed. Just like how I was upset when dottore kidnapped columbina. I don't need people to die forever to feel emotions in the moment. That's like some 14 year old edge lord stuff lol
So, what stakes does Genshin have?
So, no character really gets hurt, the nation obviously isn’t going to be gone or whatever, Dottore was obviously never going to accomplish his goal in this instance.
Heck, most streamers that I watched knew exactly what was going to happen and a lot of people share the same sentiment as me. It’s not edgy to want a story to feel like there’s even a chance at losing or something going wrong, imo.
Most streamers just look at leaks and have everything spoiled to them and then "react" in either a way that proves they already knew or over the top to pretend they didn't.
Since when has someone who is in our main cast ever died or had something happen to them?
Signora to me felt like things were finally getting somewhere because it’s the first death we’ve seen but it didn’t feel like a proper death tbh. It was just kind of out of nowhere without really getting much info on who she was.
And I never said Signora's death was bad story telling. I'm merely pointing out the potential of keeping her alive.
I’m not saying a major character has to die(although it’d definitely do the game good) but Genshin is too scared to even hurt their characters which I don’t think is good. Everyone is always perfectly fine and there are no stakes. I’m saying that there needs to be some stakes but with Genshin it all just feels like everything is going to be amazing and happy by the end.
Also, I’m no author or writer so I can’t tell what a good story is but it’s just something I don’t like. I was just saying that there was a way to do it and the way Genshin did it just didn’t feel right, idk how to do it though.

You want the characters to die in order to make yourself feel good. Which is kind of messed up in away but to each their own. And just to be clear, death does not make a story good. It's the story telling that makes the story good.
A good writer always know how to make the most of the characters they created. You do not kill off a beloved character especially when there is still so much potential left to them. And if you're gonna kill them, you make sure to continue to empower their memories even long after they're gone in order to make the most out of their character.
I’m just saying that some risk would’ve made the story better.
Having a story without any risk doesn’t make it that interesting imo.
But who knows maybe people like that for some reason
Genshin at this point is like a shounen, every thing that I’ve seen has at least some level of risk to it. Like I said, it doesn’t have to be death.
The risk could be something as simple as Klee sneaking out of solitary confinement and scared that Jean catches her.
Genshin Impact is far from the majority of the mass produced and repetitive Isekai anime out there. And if risk is all you want then you have nothing to complain about because the other three moon goddesses was already sacrificed in the story. If you disagree then you're disagreeing with your own logic. Which is what you've been doing again and again.
The three moon sisters were NPCs that we knew were already dead, not the main cast.
I just don’t want to be able to tell with almost like a 90% accuracy where the story is going in its climax.
And personally, while it's evident that Sandrone will come back, I don't think it will all be roses with her. Genshin doesn't believe in free lunch, and I think Sandrone will pay for her comeback in memories.
I’m talking about our main cast, not Villains/npcs
Sandrone just came up rn because she’s “dead” rn but if an actual person dies then that would for sure be interesting.
I want to see a battle in which I’m not sure if everyone will come out ok.
Or would it just depend on the person
My point is that I have experienced all types of games. I enjoy all types as well. I don't need people dying for me feel like there are stakes. I don't mind when it happens and some of my favorite games ever have that, but no story should pass or fail based simply on whether people die or not. If you don't think the stakes are enough, that happens and is fine, but a death here or there needing to happen for you just seems excessive. There are ways to raise stakes without death and many games do it well is what I'm getting at. Death shouldn't be what you base stakes on.
With Genshin whenever a plan is made by the mc and the group it always goes according to plan. Whenever we make a plan we know 100% it’s going to work.
The only time that didn’t happen was Fontaine (this was basically what I was saying), Fontaine is a good example of what I mean by stakes or things that could go wrong. We made a plan and things were going good but it eventually all got flipped on its head.
I’m not saying that somebody needs to die(although it’d be interesting for sure) but we know our plan is always going to go according to plan.
I’m hoping they divert expectations with the next few quests just like they did with Fontaine.
Your Fontaine example had NPCs dying, but we also had that in Natlan. There was an entire meter showing the body count piling up at one point. However, Navia survived what could have been a death and the entire place flooded, but was ultimately okay. So, even then it was a similar outcome.
It's a gacha game though and you have to know that ultimately things will work out for playable characters with a very few exceptions across the entire genre. I think you understand that from what I can tell.
I knew you were going to mention the Columbina thing but it was very short lived.
Maybe I’m just salty that the only actual villains in Genshin’s entire history either met a pretty insignificant end or are still continuing.
Like I said, I hope Dottore will turn the scales now that the whole burning of irminsul thing is meant to happen (still don’t know when though).
I still have hope that something will happen
I don't know. Have you seen the posts complaining about how long the AQ quests were this patch? Some people definitely don't think it was short lived. It also wasn't short lived in game nor in our time as it is.
When that does happen, we still know everything will work out in the end. That's the thing, this isn't a game where the bad guys have any chance of ultimately winning. So, any consequences are basically thrown in exactly to please people like you who just need "something."
I'm not trying to discount your opinion. It's again fine to have. It's just a tough thing to balance when you ultimately know this is a "good guys definitely win" type of story.
It felt shocking and for a lengthy period of time things felt wrong
Maybe just after Fontaine that stuff doesn't move you anymore. That's not necessarily the game's fault. It isn't yours either. You can't help how you feel, but the game is still doing what it has always. Like I said, it also will keep doing it. If you don't think each segment ends with a basically complete victory you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Mavuika for instance has to lose the gnosis as far as we know. Yet, we also know she has to keep her power because she's a playable character. Maybe they throw us for a loop and have a playable character just become weaker in the story, but that would be a little shocking. Which means Mavuika probably gives the gnosis away and still somehow gets to keep her power.
Like I said, it's a tough balance because it's a gacha. Expecting too much will leave you disappointed. I'm just here for the lore and how everything ultimately works out while expecting them to not really do anything too dramatic with any playable characters.
All I’m saying is that there was more emotion to it and it felt like there were more stakes instead of a bunch of NPCs dying in Natlan, even if things in the end did end up positively in Fontaine for almost the entire sq it didn’t feel like it. Honestly, I have this sentiment of the story because a lot of other people have it and it helped me personally with realizing how empty the story is in terms of stuff actually happening to characters.
Like I really enjoy genshins lore but I’m ngl, Arknights, Nikke, BD2, Snowbreak, and pretty much any gacha I’ve played has done something to make it feel like there’s real stakes.
It’s the stagnation that’s killing me tbh.
Also, that’s exactly what I said, I said that I’m hoping that the future updates will fix this issue. Like NK hasn’t ended or else there’d be plotholes so yeah.
Regardless, millions of people play this game. It is not difficult to find people who agree you on stuff. That doesn't make you just like I can find those that agree with me and it doesn't make us right.
Again, your opinions are fine, but you're bordering on basically claiming your opinion is correct.
To me, it just sounds like it doesn't work for you anymore and you expect something different. That too is also fine. I played Destiny for a decade. Day one D1 through the first episode post-The Final Shape. I dropped it after that. It just wasn't doing it for me anymore.
I personally think Genshin has and has had plenty of stakes. I again have over a thousand games worth of stories to draw from. Add in that many books, shows, and movies as well. No, this isn't an "I know more" excuse. I'm just saying it isn't my first rodeo that is causing me to think these things.
Bro, I know you’re smarter and more knowledgeable in all things over a 20 yr old youngin like me. I’m just trying to make sense as to how someone can say there are stakes in the game.
Also, the whole opinion thing I understand, you’ll always find people with an opinion that vastly different. Like someone can say that shit tastes like a 5 star gourmet meal and that’s its own opinion even though it’s gruesome. That’s not really what I’m saying
