After finishing the latest Archon Quest, I was doing some reading on Genshin's wiki about Nibelung and the Heavenly Principles. Since then I've been wondering about the possibility that Paimon could be Heavenly Principles.

The Heavenly Principles themselves haven't been active in Teyvat since Khaenri'ah's war. The Funerary war probably left them severely damaged, which was worsened by Khaenri'ah's war.

Reasons why I think Paimon fits the bill:

\- Paimon doesn't seem to be a native of Teyvat and the Heavenly Principles were the first Descender.

\- The Irminsul tree, I believe, was created by the Heavenly Principles using a part of their soul (similar to how Columbina created Luonnotar). That could explain why Irminsul behaves like a living entity rather than a mere tree as well as why Paimon is affected by changes to Irminsul despite being a Descender. Also why Paimon may not be seen as a Descender as records of her exist in the Ley Lines but other Descenders don't.

\- Paimon's memories seem to go back only 400 years or so which could be due to them having been in hibernation (similar to how Avatar the Last Airbender was in an iceberg) for 100 years after sustaining severe damage in Khaenri'ah's war and then waking up having no earlier memories. It also explains why the Heavenly Principles have been dormant since then as Paimon probably has no memory of being the Heavenly Principles.

\- The Heavenly Principles are described as possessing both a wing and a crown. Paimon's cape looks a lot like wings and does wear a crown.

\- Paimon being Heavenly Principles also explains her knowledge of Teyvat and being the Traveller's guide.

Would love to hear more thoughts about this! I tried finding posts discussing this possibility but couldn't find any. If there's been a discussion about this before, would be great if someone shared a link so I could go through it.
