Do i have skill issue?
Ive been playing genshin for 5 long years ever since klees banner first came out and ive only 9 starred spiral abyss ONCE. The rest have been arnd 8 stars. Ive been pulling meta dpses (hutao c1 on her release and rerun, raiden, neuvillette, mavuika etc) and meta supports ( xilonen, nahida c2, furina c1, yelan and kazuha). Ive watched spiral abyss guides, character building guides and i still struggle with spiral abyss. While i do pull for non meta characters the fact that i got all the other meta characters in their prime but has yet to consistently 9 star spiral abyss is quite concerning.
Everyone is out their breezing through it, while im stuck in this ditch.🫠 Cld anyone else relate?
EDIT: sorry i meant 9 star floor 12 for all the spiral abyss mentions. The lower floors are fine

More to the point, it's just free stuff you're leaving on the table. You could spend weeks farming artifacts looking for 5% more crit rate, or you could just get it for, what, a couple day's worth of resin guaranteed? That's how you make characters strong in this game, you make sure they've got all the upgrades you can control before you go chasing the ones you can't.
Its fine for sets that give extra crit rate but for every one else you miss 50% of all crits. That makes the 200 CD useless.
Get at least 70 CR and try to keep a 1:2 ratio (with buffs). 75/150 will be the same CV as 50/200 but way more consistent.
Other than that it may be because of your team building or rotations. For melt for example rotations are very important or your elemental auras will be wrong.
and yeah some of my older characters like hutao are quite starved for crit but ive havent been using her lately
Neuvi has a passive that buffs your dmg if you trigger different hydro reactions. Other hydro character that's worth using with him are furina as her buff is strong enough. Columbina (Maybe hexerei buff Mona but im not sure about that). If you have no other nord krai character aino should be your best option still i think.
But ttds on Succrose would only help if you switch from her to ineffa.
I'm not a pro myself but those are some obvious thing i noticed.
1. Talents leveled?
2. Weapons leveled?
3. Artifacts leveled?*
4. Supports leveled?
5. Know your rotation?
Just double check everything, man. Im like you, i started playing a few days after genshin came out and until recently never leveled anyone to 90 or even remembered that talents were even a thing. I jad my talents for characters i used all the time at like 4, 5 and 6.
Abyss these days has a lot of "do this specific thing or it will be harder for you". So learning mechanics can helb a lot.
*Artifacts should also have the correct substats for corresponding characters. Like EM for Nahida and things like that
"What do you mean i have to level 4 different things just to get my character to be usable?!"
The game was just too much for simple ol' me. I was just there for vibes and a good time. I could kill everything in the overworld and clear most domains without issue (yes it took me like 1 minute or more)
I tried abyss one time and couldn't clear it. Instead of looking at my charscters and wondering if something was wrong, i just thought abyss was for endgame sweats and whales. Had nothing to do with me.
(I heard that many veterans did absolutely everything wrong with their characters when they were newbies in 1.0 and the online ressources were scarce)
I used to look at so many yt videos of charachters dealing like 10k+ damage (it was a lot back then) and thinking to myself "My girl Ning can do that too... i just need to burst with her and hope all her rocks hit one opponent"
But one day i saw a video of someone saying that Ninguan was actually secretly goated! And i was like "YES! THEY GET IT!" And i saw the video... their Ningguan was doing like 4-6k per rock, their burst was doing like 30-50k. I was stunned. Their Ning couldn't be much better than mine. Mine was C6 at the time.
It was hard to accept. Like looking at a version of yourself you could be if you just locked tf in. When i went to go check my Ning, i checked her talent levels and saw they were at something like 5-3-4. I felt like i had done something sinful. Like raising a child with artistic talent into a mathematician.
So i learned. But even now, my Xiangling who used to be my main before Ning still has talents at 7-7-7.
I am usually too lazy to 9 star floor 12, because I'm only willing to run it once or twice if I think I picked the wrong party. Almost always, the difference between 6 stars and 9 stars is gameplay rather than character builds. Are you grouping enemies correctly? Are you making sure you're maximizing your damage in the "boss is weak" window? Are you rotating your supports correctly to give your DPS the most buffs for the most time? Are you breaking elemental shields as efficiently as possible? Are you an idiot who gets disoriented easily and wastes a bunch of time dashing around looking for the enemy (this is me telling on myself)?
If you're picking the parties the guides online say to pick, check if the guides say specific things like "run to this spot as soon as the chamber starts" or other such tips. I remember one cycle when they had those fat water phantasms from Fontaine and I was having a really hard time getting them killed in a reasonable amount of time until someone told me where to run to get them to stack themselves so I could hit them both at once. Almost any floor 12 has strategies like that.
As I said, I don't like abyss enough to rerun it a bunch of times. As long as I get 6 stars, I'll just be happy with my first run and leave it alone until reset.
I did 35\* this time, it was for my first time to reach such a high score, so I will give all to get my first 36\* ever.
But if you're enjoying the game, don't let it bother you too much.
Anytime i see these it's always gonna be someone holding back and telling others why they don't do X and refusing help. Take people's advice or at least try it, you have everything set to basically not have any issues what so ever.
Level your talents up, get your characters to 90, and lastly change your teams. For the love of God get that last ascensions. Try to at least adapt.
