no u would not!! i joint myself two months ago, and i have managed to complete till natlan, and i am done with nonkrai 🤓 it just depends on how much time u are willing to spend on genshin
Accomplished-Yak25742026-01-25 08:31
Problem 6 months to complete all archon quests and almost 8 to 9 months to explore all region
YannFrost2026-01-25 08:32
Word of Advice:
Ignore anything gacha, limited event and all that stuff.
Play the game like a singe player rpg. You will enjoy the game far more if you do.
neuvvv2026-01-25 08:40
bro you ain't late for the party, enjoy the game
Skykeeper222026-01-25 08:44
I don’t even know why people keep asking “is it too late” like what? The game keeps updating and the later you start the more fun contents you will get to experience. Isn’t that a good thing to have things to do in a game? As a player who already caught up with the game for years now, sometimes I wished I could go back to be a new player and have like 5 nations to explore freely.
Taha_Amir2026-01-26 19:00
The only thing i dont like is how some parts of the lore are hidden behind limited time events. Other than that, a new player coming in can still pretty much experience most if not all of the lore easily
AnonymooPuppy2026-01-25 08:54
The story and quests take a long time, it's hours worth of content, but if you like the story, enjoy it over time and explore the regions in your own pace. I played since day 3 and still play almost every day. Have fun!
Mikaiphas_882026-01-25 09:15
It's not too late but it would all depend on how much you could handle characters in events acting like you've met them before and story/world/archon updates that will keep coming despite you not even remotely close to getting there.
Coz if that's a deal breaker to you, then yes, you are too far behind and you will burn yourself out doing quest after quest nonstop for months just trying to catch up.
If not, then starting now is actually really great since they just added a story progression feature so you'd know which quest to do next and won't be lost about which one to tackle first.
ChChChillian2026-01-25 09:27
It's a single player game with an optional co-op mode. There's no such thing as being "too far behind".
The only thing I'd suggest is to not accept any offers to skip ahead, or the story will make no sense. A little bit of that is inevitable if you participate in the seasonal events without first completing the parts of the story where you meet the characters involved, but that's a relatively small problem.
DaSpood2026-01-25 09:28
You will never catch up it's over life is meaningless everyone is ahead of you everything is pointless you should stay in your room and never leave
Budget-Mobile80362026-01-25 09:29
No need to be a big asshole dude.
theweirdarthur2026-01-25 10:01
they're not, this is just some light sarcasm. there's no need to over react
algunarubia2026-01-25 09:39
You can catch up. I don't recommend rushing it too much- there's a ton of game to get through- but you can probably get up to the current storyline in a few months.
warpknot2026-01-25 09:49
Main story as of writing, according to 54 submissions in howlongtobeat website, is 78hrs on average - assuming you won't be side tracked by exploration. That's a whole lot for a free game.
Starting now, you'll be playing Genshin like some sort of different version, different from how old players are playing. You're now left behind on the following:
* End game related stuff, the upper 90% hard content that requires a big roster of characters
* Content and community discussing meta current state of affairs, to some extent.
* Current day speculations and lore stuff
Instead, what playing experience you'll get right now different from old players:
* A heck ton of backlog of story and exploration. No waiting 6 weeks. No cliffhangers. (pls don't wiki yet, tons of spoilers there)
* Roguelike experience. Playing smartly with what characters you get, not what the team guides tell you
Meanwhile, some experiences remains unchanged. Like exploring, levelling up your characters, getting you're first five star character, five star artifact, first Abyss (hard content) clear, and first time feeling genuinely strong.
frostN0VA2026-01-25 10:08
bruh you're posting about sandrone and you're worrying about catching up
SpinachHumble2026-01-25 10:35
If you 100% explore all maps, do all world quest, character story quest and archon quest, it will take you months depending on how many hours you spend on the game daily. Roughly around 6 months to a year. That is how much content Genshin have right now.
My suggestion if you really want to go with it is, DO NOT RUSH IT. Enjoy every moment of the story and exploration because if you don't and you just forced/brute force the content, I assure you you will get bored very easily.
Budget-Mobile80362026-01-25 10:39
I was planning to just get through the main story chapters and do the side content at a certain point when I feel like it.
chii_Say2026-01-25 17:23
The thing is, the side quests, world quests and characters quests (especially those of characters which have predominant roles in each region) add A LOT of depth to the story and contribute heavily to the world building for you to eventually get immersed in the main story line as well.
You can absolutely rush through the main story but it will probably feel more shallow and detouched, without the world building behind it.
If you're interested in the combat, gatcha, end game, then it doesn't matter, go for it, the main story is not that long if done non stop, probably a few months max depending on how much time you spend playing.
Participating in limited time events can be fine, the rewards are worth a bit of spoilers and disorientation when they assume you "know things" but it's not that heavy.
Just keep that in mind and ask yourself what you want from the game first.
If you want immersion, take your time without rushing (except limited time events if you want to do them). There is no actual need to rush because the game is still ongoing, if you rush and catch up too quickly you end up with little to do other than waiting for the new update, a diminished understanding of the game, and that might influence your experience.
But again, if you don't care for the immersion, rushing will not take too long. Have fun regardless 😊
Budget-Mobile80362026-01-25 17:30
Thank you for your kind input. I do feel okay with rushing through a bit. I appreciate your advice.
ytgy2026-01-25 11:54
By the end of the semester if you're serious about your studies
Nyancromancer2026-01-25 14:02
It's not an MMO, so the Idea that you could be "too far behind" is a little silly from the onset. There's lots of content as the game has been going for 5 years and you can eventually catch up to current inthe story, it may just take a while, but they also have a "Quickstart" feature for whatever the current new region is, that just lets you jump to the current story focus, but I only recommend you do that if you don't mind being spoiled on some things that happen in previous parts of the story, this won't catch you up on content but it will bring you to the most recent story arc, and you can do the previous ones later.
I recommend you just start the game and try to enjoy the game is the way that you prefer.
Lozulo2026-01-25 23:11
For the content, that kind of depends on you. If all you do is the main, unskippable content, then I want to say it could all be done in 200 hours or less, but I'm not completely sure. Maybe you could even do it in 100 or less? But that's just strictly doing what you have to do and skipping any extra exploration and or side quests.
As for being behind. Think of Genshin like a regular rpg. There's no behind or ahead. You certainly won't be smashing Abyss, Imaginarium Theatre, or Stygian Onslaught next week. But those are all end game content, and quite honestly, not relevant to the story. For the story and exploration, you don't even really need to do any pulls. Pulling good characters just makes it much easier. And now is a good time to do it since Columbina is probably going to be a mainstay for the rest of 6.x. So pulling her would make your life a whole lot easier.
Budget-Mobile80362026-01-26 02:57
I'm going to be strictly f2p.
Lozulo2026-01-26 10:32
Nothing wrong with that. I don't really understand what the relevance is there though. Everything I said is valid regardless of whether you spend or not.
Budget-Mobile80362026-01-26 11:33
Well wishing and pulling is mostly for P2P players, F2P pulling would be a nightmare.
Lozulo2026-01-26 14:03
Lots of people tend to think that, but it's only true if you've got pokemon fever. If you don't "gotta catch'em all" then you can just wish whenever. Some people save up for specific characters, some people wish whenever they get enough primos for it. And, in the early game, you get a lot of primos. Every Archon quest is a free wish, oculus and region stuff can give wishes or primos, etc. F2P just has to be more conscious of their pulls IF....IF they want to do end game content. If you don't care about Abyss, Stygian, and Theatre, then pulling isn't a big deal either way.
And, it's been a while, so I'm not sure how long it takes these days, but for people who want a strong start, you use to be able to race to open wishing in like 30min to an hour, then do your pull. Some people will do that 5-10 times til they get lucky, lol.
Isk4nd4r_rd2026-01-27 08:40
Stared in 5.1. It took me a bit over 3 months to clear questlog and do all exploration to 100%. While having full time job and general adult stuff to do. You are good, enjoy the game and dont rush it.
