What if our current Archon Quests are just the 'Khaenri’ah Lore' for the next generation of players?
What if the "Main Quest" for the next generation of Genshin players isn't about saving the world, but about uncovering what happened to us?
Right now, we spend all our time digging through the ruins of Khaenri’ah and Enkanomiya, trying to piece together a Cataclysm that happened 500 years ago. We look at the "Seven Archons" as these ancient, fading powers.
What if : In a future era of the game (or a sequel), our current journey will be the "Ancient History."
The Traveler won't be a playable character, but a legendary "Descender" or a "God of the Past" that people find statues of in the dirt.
Paimon might be remembered as a mysterious "Guide of Fate" that scholars argue ever actually existed.
The Archon Quests we are playing right now will be the "Lost Lore" that future players have to decode from ruined stone tablets and corrupted Ley Lines.
Just like we are obsessed with what happened 500 years ago in Teyvat, the next generation will be obsessed with our generation. We aren't just playing the story; we are playing the "History Lesson" for the people who come after us. We are currently living through the events that will eventually become the "Ancient Myths" of the next world.

The reason the player base is so invested in the lore of the game and theory crafting what happened is cause we literally don't know and we only have bits and pieces to go off until we get more lore drops.
In the situation you are suggesting those future players would find like the mural of Tumaini or a stone tablet with a record of one of travelers heroic accomplishments and instead of having that "mystery" element of wondering what really happened and coming up with theories those players could literally just do a quick google search and find entire articles or youtube videos of how the mural came to be or what exactly the stone record is talking about.
It would be less mystery and more just a throwback to things people already have all the information about.
