Why is the ping different on different accounts? I thought it was a wifi issue initially and asked before too but apparently not
I thought it was just a wifi or server issue because it always went to 500+ in the evenings, but for the last 2-3 weeks its pretty much always high, driving me crazy because i can't even fight a boss without it resetting.

Both accounts are pretty much the same age, probably a week or two gap created around 2 years ago.
I do have a question though, is there any way to contact support requesting a look into this? Cause in the past i had to use a vpn or a dns just to reduce the ping (back when it was a constant 700-800) and it just vanished only for it to come back again.
When I first started playing Genshin Impact in 2020, I had a stable ping of over 300 (I chose the wrong region, but it was too late to change anything). Then, around 2024, my ping dropped to 220-240. Then, in 2025, it dropped to a stable 180-200. But at the beginning of this year, it's occasionally just returning to 220-240. Sometimes it's for a day, sometimes for a week. I have no idea what's causing this, at least not yet.
Is this by any chance similar to your situation?
It's a bit bizarre because I'd sometimes be forced to reconnect and then the game would be running under 100ms before it goes back to the 500+
It's even more bizarre considering I shouldn't even get ping issues because I do have the appropriate region/server selected, alongwith pretty good WiFi. The bizarre part being that the game would go back to normal ping at a literal McDonald's wifi but not mine lol.
i haven't bothered mapping them, but at least for asia server, they've got physical servers in japan and singapore, and likely in plenty of other countries
from the observation you've gathered, it looks like the selected server is cached/sticky per-account basis, which is actually a common approach for plenty of reasons
this cache usually only goes away after some time of inactivity, or other technical reasons (e.g., the assigned servers/clusters happen to be overloaded at the time)
i suppose you can try to connect via a VPN from a different country
presumably, it may force their server to re-determine which gateway servers/clusters it will assign for the account
you can try cloudflare warp (turn on its free vpn), if you don't trust random free ones, or don't want to pay for premium ones
I do recall that when this happened last time, running the game on mobile on the same wifi would work normally, while on pc it would just be super latent (other video games ran fine and no heavy latency was detected), and connecting pc to a hotspot also would temporarily fix the issue?
I will definitely give it a shot to use a vpn and supposedly try and force switch, would be quite a handy fix
The funny thing is that switching to a different ISP helps a bit, I have two ISPs at my home due to the nature of my work, so I need a backup connection. Whenever I go to that backup connection that is also 8x times slower than my main connection suddenly all hoyoverse games ping is stable and stays around 40ms.
It's really weird, I've never had an issue like this and the difference actually can be felt in game. It's annoying, but I guess switching to a backup connection is a bandaid solution I'll have to do. There's literally no way hoyoverse would ever listen to complaints like this, all the companies in the world either blame each other or the user. This unstable ping problem with hoyoverse games on my main ISP connection is a good example of it, the ISP blames hoyoverse or some tier 1 network company like RETN, hoyoverse customer support blames my ISP or my router. Although, I know that my backup ISP is using the same big big ass wire as my main ISP, so it makes even less sense to me now.
Luckily in my case it's not tied to an account, but rather to an ISP. Honestly I can't blame my ISP either, because literally every other game or basically any other EU server connection does not have such an issue, it's just hoyo EU servers for whatever damn reason.
To be really honest this is why I really wish this game wasn't a good damn live service game, the ping I'm getting on my main ISP might not be too bad but it's still high and it actually affects gameplay, I can't even imagine how bad it is to play Genshin with 200ms+. Well, at least their new games don't really suffer from such issue, I can play ZZZ/HSR just fine even with 250ms, hopefully one day Genshin will also feel better with higher latency.
Whenever I get these ping issues, an out in the middle of nowhere, 1 bar, 4g network would probably work better on a data saver enabled low power mode 4g handset phone over a literal up to date device with the latest wifi chip probably even connected by bloody ethernet 😂
