Ok so like where are we fighting
in the latest archon quest, we are transported into an arena above the clouds with a mountain peak in the backdrop
The Moon breaks through the false sky close enough that it is a short distance from the arena.
Yet after the fight, we are on the moon, a great distance away from the planet where teyvat resides. so like where is the moon? I have seen some theories on where the false sky's border is, but it still doesn't explain how the moon broke through over here and then went all the way back to space and still managed to be in Teyvats atmosphere.
I read one theory that the False Sky is like a pocket dimension, but the borders are meant to keep outsiders out of teyvat, the twins should not be able to enter teyvat by just crash landing on it.
Any theories?

It just doesn't make sense
Then that means that the firmament lies outside of teyvat and protects a bit of space as well.
But in the moon breaking the sky scene, we see the firmament break right above the arena, and we also see that Mavuika broke the sky at like cloud level at most, not in space.
Then where exactly is the firmament, in space or in teyvats atmosphere?? It's not really explained
But the scenes I mentioned( Mavuika breaking the sky, and the moon breaking through) don't occur in space. It occurs in the skies barely cloud level. This contradicts the fact that the firmament is in space since it's apparently been broken at cloud level
That means that is the actual space.
And the actual space is just behind the clouds?
And yet the actual space seems to also be behind teyvat space.
The Genshin community truly can’t read, lmao.
The firmament is less a physical barrier, and more of a pocket dimension. Outside teyvat, the area where the planet WAS is surrounded by this barrier. Inside that area is now a pocket dimension, like a giant serenitea pot. From inside the firmament, you can go as far as you like into space, but you’re still in the pocket dimension. Like, the moon and stars aren’t images on a screen, they exist in space, it’s just not real space.
It takes a lot of power, like Nicole/varka/arle, or mav+the power of friendship, or dottore+three moons, to actually break the firmament from the inside. Otherwise you just go into fake space.
As for the moon distance, I think we can assume Columbina moved it farther away once the fight was over.
>*Teyvat has its own "laws"*
🤷♂️
so what i think happened is the frost moon entered the barrier and then got back to its original orbit around the planet of Teyvat but its still inside the false sky.
The false sky was created to not let outsiders come inside Teyvat or even notice it.(Clearly failed since the twins entered but thats besides the point)
The frost moon entered the barrier then went back to orbit Teyvat in the simulated universe.
Ofc this is all a theory but its the only thing that makes sense in my mind, because we clearly saw the frost moon "break" the false sky just above the clouds, but then when we went to look for our ship it was far beyond the planet's atmosphere but is still inside the false sky somehow.
Like is it infinite? How far does it go? Someone else talked about how it could be the Shades power, specifically Asmoday making the sky be like that. Then that means either Asmoday is maintaining the space or that she's just that powerful. Didn't the Heavenly Principles make the false sky? Bro is so broken and the traveler is supposed to become him
It is kind of annoying since the cutscene where the moon crashes through the firmament very clearly shows that the moon appears *enormous* at the distance of the firmament... But then somehow afterward it appears small in the sky, below the firmament. I agree that this logically just doesn't make sense. It reminds me a bit of trying to make sense of how Fontaine could get completely flooded while the entire nation is raised above the rest of Teyvat and none of the other nations had any issues with flooding.
Point out what the game did wrong and you get downvoted. Praise the company, even for the worst shit they’ve done, and you get upvoted. That’s the entire gimmick of r/Genshin_Impact
Go to r/Genshin_Lore if you’re looking for somewhat unbiased discussion of the story.
The arena is literally just a giant hand Dottore made to fight on. Its just above Nasha Town. Way above, but above.
The moon broke through because the Trilunar Goddess' power overcame Dottore's. The False Sky keeps outsiders out and keeps Teyvat mostly hidden. The False Sky is not that strong from the inside, and it is weaker than the Trilune Authority.
The chosen Twin is a Descender. The whole thing about that is that they are strong enough to open the way from the outside on their own; they are not bound by Teyvat's Fate, the False Sky, Irminsul, etc.
No offence meant, but you really need to do more reading in-game before asking for theories.
The moon is shown to be outside of the planet just like ours. If the arena is above Nasha Town, then that means the false sky was broken there. Dottore immediately closes the false sky in response to Varka and Nicole 'pulling' it down. And we see the moon break through the false sky, NOT Dottores barrier.
Since we already established that by the time of the traveler and columbina looking at the spaceship, the moon is outside of the planet, and the fact that the moon can be seen by the people of Teyvat, that means the moon is within the false sky, and yet outside the planet.
Thus the false sky is outside the planet,(or atleast is a distance away from the planet, in space)
So the moon somehow traveled from above Nasha town to space and like no one noticed? We know the npcs are like wow the moon looks different! And stuff, also this suggests that the arena lies in space even tho it clearly isn't since the moon broke through the false sky here and stayed there.
Two, take your own advice before getting defensive, and consider also that your sentence structuring ain't allat.
Three, the moon went to the edge of the False Sky. The False Sky is a dome around the planet. The arena was closer to the edge of the False Sky than to the ground. Maybe there's some creative licensing, maybe not. Its on the inside now. Why did people not notice? Because a) it was way the fuck up there above the clouds, and b) Nod Krai had a total population close to 10 at the point.
And four, as an addendum in case it wasn't clear; the False Sky was repaired with the moon inside it. It didn't go anywhere after. The cast went back down to the surface, and the moon stayed in its position.
Evidence:
The "real" sky is usually red, why would it suddenly be blue? My guess is that Dottore made it blue in the simulation because blue is his color and he correctly assumed that nobody would question why is wasn't red
Dottore's quick transformation into his boss form
Dottore suddenly teleports everyone to the arena, which seems unrealistically weird even by Genshin standards
The >!Glitching on the second end card!<
The >!Lack of a body!<
Dottore talks a lot about dreams, and we know from notes in Sumeru that he researches weaponization of dreams
The version art features a stage with curtains
Dottore makes "domes" all over Nod Krai, the boss fight could easily take place in a dome as well
Dottore talks about "playing the role of a villain" rather than simply being a villain
>!Dottore loses unusually easily, but the devs confirmed he's not a bum!<
Mainly because I love Dottore because he is a great villain and also I hate Dottore because he's a great villain
1. It's a game
2. The world has magic
Non-euclidian geometry is not that surprising. And the false sky probably isn't a physical barrier in one defined position.
Now do i actually think these are correct, idk probably not but definitely interesting and at least plausible.
I wonder if the shades can fix the sky or no without asmoday
Now, the firmament is there to conceal the outer space with the illusion that there is more sky with clouds reaching higher up, but anyone knows by that height you'd be seeing no more clouds and the only thing up is the space with stars visible to the naked eye.
In comparison to our Earth, both Teyvat and its moon are TINY!! If we use our own moon's proportion for Teyvat's, it should be about the size of the Chasm+Sumeru forest. And if you noticed the size of the moon when Dottore first cracked open the sky, it's the same size as you'd see it normally in game. So scientific explanations aside - because no point since it's fantasy sci-fi - they don't work or look the same way in distance. Still, a celestial body is no joke. So by the time we pulled down the moon and broke through the false sky, that's still way, wayyyyyyyyy above us.
The crack created by Dottore look really close to us? I think it's all perspective. You gotta know how huge that crack is, and therefore might look closer and smaller to the eye if you don't comprehend it the right way - just like our real moon, you think it's closer than it actually is.
Another of my take is that the firmament isn't a simple thin film hologram, but another atmosphere like structure with a considerable thickness to it. And what does celestial bodies have? Gravitation fields. So as the moon got closer, while it was still far away from the visible false sky(inner wall) it was coming into contact with the firmament outer wall via its gravitational force and therefore broke through without touching physically.
Lastly, about the moon being within the firmament. Does Teyvat look that far from the moon when we got up there? I don't think so, that's a short distance. If you leave the moon and let gravity do the work, you'd be crash landing back in Teyvat within half a day. My take is that the firmament is enormous - respect to Phanes - so the moon being withing the false sky at that distance isn't that unbelievable. Why isn't the outer sky/space red like we'd know before? A lot had been going on, Alice did something, pushed back the abyss and chaos for the time being?
Another possibility is that the firmament is permanently broken at the location of the moon, and the moon is not active in orbit, meaning it's not going around the Planet. Neither does the firmament spin while Teyvat does rotate. So each moon-rise, we're seeing the true moon. But this is unlikely.
I hope this answer your questions. It's just a game and its CGI to convey an idea by the end of the day, not everything will be accurately portrayed like in real life. The only noticeable mistake would be the true new moon appearing to be the same size as before in game... Hoyo did their best.
