In the (somewhat niche) case that you lose to a standard weapon AND want to secure both limited weapons, it would be better to reset your Fate Points to zero. There are other posts talking about it with proof, such as this one: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin\_Impact/comments/1h050h3/whale\_only\_if\_you\_plan\_to\_get\_both\_featured\_5star/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/1h050h3/whale_only_if_you_plan_to_get_both_featured_5star/).

But this is very unintuitive, and somewhat feels like bad design. Obviously, this is a side effect of Genshin lowering the Epitomized Path guarantee from two Fate Points to just one (since with two Fate Points required, resetting them would not give you an advantage and instead be a very bad idea). Of course it's amazing that the new system is more forgiving than the old one (which in turn was a massive improvement over the guarantee-less weapon banners of 1.x), and it's also nice that there is a way to improve your odds if you're mildly unlucky, but it also feels like players would be punished for not knowing about the strategy of resetting your Fate Points. I just don't really know how to feel about it.
It can be better to waste a Fate Point. Is this bad design?
