A 70-year-old Chinese grandmother has gained popularity for analyzing the music of games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, and was even featured in official Chinese media.
For a music company they make pretty good games yk
MiniatureLegionary2026-01-25 16:16
If only Marco was still making content with Genshin but nooooooo they pushed him away
GravityW_D392026-01-25 16:34
i only know that he got backlash from not liking arlecchino's boss ost, but is there anything else?
Next_Investigator_692026-01-25 18:36
Pretty sure I remember it was because he kinda jumped into the drama of wuwa and the endless comparisons to it, basically distancing himself himself from the gi community
Kirameka2026-01-25 20:33
Tbh it's not a very cold take, arle's boss theme is not as great
Nisqyfan2026-01-25 22:51
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. I am a massive Arlecchino fan and her boss theme is meh. It has some strong elements like the opening and children’s choir sections but I think it loses something by inserting more modern styles and trying to be epic/grandiose.
In my opinion Arle’s boss theme should have had a “thin” timbre throughout. Make it like lone children singing and super creepy.
Fluid-Sort-76992026-01-25 16:43
Wasn't it because he was trying to ragebait but couldn't take it when people was raging at him
SentientPotatoMaster2026-01-26 01:27
Woah what? What happened?? It's been a while since i watch this dude lol
saberjun2026-01-26 03:09
I don't follow the English side, but I know the backlash from Chinese side. He was very much liked from the beginning. But he pulled out the skin color argument when reacting to Natlan music and got a strong backlash from Chinese fans. Because it was a nothing burger in China and he tried to make it a big deal. Then some other controversials added up like he put a thumbnail mocking Hutao in a wuwa glazing video (he claimed it was a joke but people didn't buy it). And he couldn't stop overreacting to some toxic commenters (according to his standards). Like bro, you're a content creator and an old-ass adult, you got to learn how to ignore some nagetive feedbacks. Oh he also complained that he didn't get a role to voice acting in HSR and he was salty about it. (He voice acted a NPC in Genshin. Amateur level if I am honest)
WolfySpice2026-01-26 03:52
It was a bit a trend: when Natlan came around, many content creators got *really weirdly racial* about it all. A few people I used to watch dropped out of it around that time.
SentientPotatoMaster2026-01-26 04:10
That’s pretty lame lol. I didn’t expect him to be that kind of guy. He should've stayed in his lane, reviewing music and stuff instead of participating in dumbassery...
saberjun2026-01-26 04:36
Ikr? Like bro you’re a musician,so just talk about musics and keep away from politic topics.
Informal_Try65592026-01-25 16:50
What happened? I thought he wasn't getting views from genshin reactions that he stopped analysing them
float162026-01-25 17:08
I blocked his channel after he started getting clickbaity low-effort so I guess that's what happened at scale.
Informal_Try65592026-01-25 17:31
I just checked his channel and he has those over the top face on the thumbnails so it does seem to be clickbaity
soffan3262026-01-25 16:50
I remember he reacted to the Nod-Krai theme, did he really stop making Genshin content? That would be really sad, I loved his reactions.
ImGroot692026-01-26 06:22
he only rode the hype train when Genshin hired Aurora for Nod-Krai main theme. if there was no Aurora, doubt he would bother making a video lol
BumblebeeDesigner9982026-01-27 11:44
He praised nod krai to heaven and bashed natlan’s music in the same video and being weirdly dismissal about non european music. Racist mf
AnotherTestSubject712026-01-25 18:30
Yeah it's sad that he stopped, the one I watch currently is for music reaction is CatharsisYT
InterestingArt31662026-01-25 18:45
marco can suck my meatballs
Primordial-one2026-01-25 18:55
You mean the person that went from actually dropping good videos about Analyzing the Osts of Genshin and other games, to dropping Clickbaits Videos and trying to ragebait Genshin community?? Broski couldn’t even handle the backlash of people calling his bs.
ImGroot692026-01-26 06:20
it's funny that the argument always end up with, "the video doesn't have comparison between games" then why the hell you even used that specific thumbnail lol?
Lazy-Traffic53462026-01-25 21:17
He did it himself, coming up with some invisible commenters from the Hoyo community who insult him and the video and like it was toxic. But even if they write something in the comments, you don't have to throw a tantrum, most of the players are still normal people. He did the wrong thing and immediately started WuWa glazing, wtf.
LKOShield2026-01-25 23:17
Yeah, it was weird. Even if there's a few loud assholes from Genshin's side (and there will be loud assholes in every community), the easiest thing he could've done is to stay impartial and continue to make money and good content from every side.
But he had to join in with the drama and pick a side, that was unnecessary, influencers only do that when they're not confident about staying relevant and had to stir shit up to attract attention.
LKOShield2026-01-25 23:12
I stopped watching him after his last few Genshin videos clearly showed thay his heart isn't in it anymore.
He was entertaining once upon a time, I'll give him that.
Mael89Strom2026-01-26 02:09
Lol yeah no. That guy was a huge poser. Crying and bitching about non-existent commenters. Surely there would be a few, with how large the Genshin Fandom is, but that MF hyperfocused on the non-existent or maybe that one guy (or few guys) and generalized the entire community. I've read that he was actually rage-baiting, but in the end, he was the one who couldn't take the heat and deflected all his BS to the community.
I mean who would you believe, the poor insulted precious Marco? OR THE EVIL DESPICABLE GENSHIN FANDOM!!! MF really used that angle to cry about it lol.
ImGroot692026-01-26 06:23
mind you, some of the backlash to him were caused by himself to begin with too. remember the clickbait thumbnail he used for WuWa glazing video?
AsleepHour77632026-01-25 17:40
YiSong, born 1950, started music education at age 7, graduated from shanghai conservatory of music, member of shenzhen association of music, pianist of shenzhen symphony orchestra.
kinda more than a regular grandma
Maxevill2026-01-25 20:48
She preety much will be popular for any niche or industry.
But overall she choose game for fun and less thinking about fame.
Napoleonex2026-01-25 23:33
just another unrealistic Asian grandma standards tsk tsk
Soviet1342026-01-25 20:43
As this cringy person who loves to watch reaction videos, id love to watch chinese cc's reactions to HSR and Genshin moments. Can anyone dm me some links, by any chance? Would be much appreciated
LapizMelancholy2026-01-25 23:46
Wait same. I wanted to see Chinese reactions to the new archon quest but have no idea how to find them
LKOShield2026-01-26 00:04
If you can understand Chinese, I can recommend these two Lore CCs on BiliBili who also made videos on their reactions upon playing the game.
They know and memorized helluva lot of Genshin texts and obscure lore so it's always a joy to watch them because they catch things the devs put in that lesser learned players would never notice.
Soviet1342026-01-26 12:36
Huge thanks
Citronsaft2026-01-26 02:46
I learned to play the [guzheng](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guzheng) as a teen and loved hearing the traditional instruments in genshin! Especially chenyu vale, it fits perfectly with the scenery, iirc it uses a lot of guqin in the soundtrack.
There's actually a decent amount of contemporary music with traditional instruments. "The Fight with the Typhoon" for example is a really popular piece which was composed in 1965, and the composer lives in NYC now. Alas never got to meet her when I was taking lessons at a different school in NYC.
XianzhouLiyue_GaMing2026-01-26 05:30
She has a youtube channel too! [https://www.youtube.com/@%E5%B0%B9%E6%9D%BE-t9v/videos](https://www.youtube.com/@%E5%B0%B9%E6%9D%BE-t9v/videos)
The only issue is that there aren't english subtitles and are all in chinese but you can try ai youtube video translation extensions
Constant-Volume5282026-01-26 15:51
Oh, this is great! I've been looking for more CCs that do GI musical analysis since so much GI music content is just reactions
P.S. if anybody is interested in english-speaking ccs that also do musical analysis (not just reactions) then I can recommend this channel. Small channel but quality content and she's been doing it for a long time
