As an exploration enjoyer.. this made me so sad. Why theres a direct waypoint for the new region hoyo why? Not even any boat to cross..
It gets worse when u know theres supposed to be a normal civilian route as they also travel here to there a lot

Every region has a waypoint unlocked after you complete the prologue, minus Sumeru, Liyue, and Inazuma.
thwrlsgenshin2026-01-25 15:55
Sumeru has one, in the desert on the border with Fontaine.
GettingWokeUp2026-01-25 15:55
Oh yeah, you’re right, part of the expansion. In that case, Liyue has one too in Chenyu Vale. I forgot about that. So yeah, the only exception is Inazuma
quie_TLost572026-01-25 15:56
This was not even a new region. It was just a region expansion
Ok-Researcher28902026-01-25 15:59
Its for new players, so if someone gets a new character they can farm the flowers and materials they need instad of having to do the entire archon quest
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:03
That kinda makes sense (ノ`⌒´)ノ┫:・┻┻
Foxata2026-01-25 16:23
It has to be like this. I remember when Shenhe came out and you had to rush the enkanomiya story just to be able to level her. I barely remember the story because of that. It was not a very nice experience.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:01
Nodkrai didn't have a first waypoint unlocked too, we travelled there by ship
So it was only fontaine and natlan who've done this atrocity in the name of exploration and realism. (Even for fontaine we started from sumeru at least)
GettingWokeUp2026-01-25 16:03
I just created a second account a week or so ago. Every region except Inazuma has a waypoint unlocked after the prologue. Nod Krai has two. Natlan has two. Fontaine has two.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:07
I get it its for the new players to farm the mats. But during my time every region didn't have a waypoint unlock, ig its something new.
GettingWokeUp2026-01-25 16:08
Yeah I don’t know when they started doing that but if I had to bet, it probably was around 5.0. I don’t think this feature existed when I took my break right before the Fontaine AQ
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:15
"If u r a new player and pulled for columbina, how are u gonna farm for her?" Ig there lies the reason
MartinZ022026-01-25 16:23
It's been a thing since 4.0 Fontaine
GettingWokeUp2026-01-25 16:24
Makes sense, I left literally right before it released and returned toward the end of Natlan
pzlama3332026-01-25 16:21
There was one. I went to Nod Krai and revealed all map first before I went back to do the quest myself. They waypoints in darkness do not show up if your map zoom out too much.
cometlin2026-01-25 16:33
Yes, but I think OP is unsatisfied that there isn't a "normal" way for people to go there without ice bridging or Furina, some kind of path a typical NPC or at least for regular vision holder to travel.
Like yes you get a waypoint unlocked for Fontain and Natland, but anyone in game can also just walk to Natland. In Fontain'e case, someone with wind glider can fly there.
Excellent_Skirt11012026-01-25 19:33
I assume NPC's travel by boat from Nothing passage, I just wish you could even just talk to an NPC to hire a ride that would teleport you there; would really help with world-building.
Zonnebloempje2026-01-25 21:54
For Fontaine, you can go from the desert, down to the water and take a waverider to the lower side of Romaritime Harbour. Then you take the lift up to the higher and Fontainian side of Romaritime Harbour. This is exactly how it was played out in the AQ.
I don't think a wind glider would make it easy to glide upwards, if you don't have strong enough wind currents.
Grand_Protector_Dark2026-01-25 16:33
>Every region has a waypoint unlocked after you complete the prologue
Ok, but most of those regions still have "natural", exploration based ways of arriving at that new area, if one wants to choose to travel there manually.
There isn't really any manual/organic way to get to the new nod krai expansion.
DeathToBoredom2026-01-25 16:52
right, it made things easier for beginners because they joined wanting the newest character.
babangelsin2026-01-25 15:54
This already happened with Easybreeze Resort
The_happiness_true2026-01-25 16:32
I believe this was the case ever since Fontaine. When Fontaine was added they also put an active teleport North on the desert. And then when Natlan was added, they added one next to Children of Echoes
babangelsin2026-01-25 16:34
Yeah but you can go to these places on foot from the previous region. These teleporters are auto-unlocked for newer players to catch on, you can still use the intended old route.
Talia_Black_Writes2026-01-25 16:45
Those are for newer players to be able to get to the new region (especially for materials if they pull character) without having to take 20-30 minutes (probably more) crossing Sumeru on foot.
Varaxis2026-01-25 18:04
I never knew about them. I started in Dec '25. I ran to Natlan to get the materials for some characters I pulled (Iansan), but when I got across the desert, I discovered there was already one unlocked. I ran the rest of the way. I started running to Fontaine when I saw the one at the north edge of desert AND ones at the northmost end of Fontaine.
I didn't bother checking Nod Krai untils someone joined to pick Columbina flowers, and they said no prob as there's already a TP unlocked. I followed them over and got caught by cutscenes then a battle vs unkillable things right after the bridge outside. XD
Talia_Black_Writes2026-01-25 18:29
That is rough. Yeah now that I think about it even at lower levels Nod-Krai enemies would be an absolute nightmare for new players.
TwilightSent2026-01-25 23:37
i think the most fortunate thing is the saurian indwelling in natlan. u can normally at least get urself away from smth u cant kill by indwelling since saurus hp is different from player.
in nod krai newest section, bunch of things can be killed with overworld mechanic (if u choose to use it)
fontaine underwater is worse for newbs IMO bc no immediate heals u gotta look for them. i dont recommend using or getting dehya, but if a newbie has her she is almost always my rec for fontaine underwater and dragonspine due to her self heals. makes it way easier when things will swallow u whole in regions like that
edvin7962026-01-25 20:28
Yup, I remember around the 3.x patches people were joking and wondering what Hoyo would do about future regions being too far for new players
gugu4092026-01-25 23:19
A new player crossing sumeru on foot is a nightmare.
Zonnebloempje2026-01-25 21:38
Nope. Sumeru release got us a brand spanking new waypoint in the Chasm, to use for getting to Gandharva Ville (and become obsessed by the weird incense that Haypasia was burning)... So it was 3.0 that gave us the first "get to the new region easily" waypoint.
Real-Contest49142026-01-25 16:35
You could make the argument the saurians could provide transport to easy breeze.
babangelsin2026-01-25 16:39
I wouldn't say that it is an intended route
The_New_Overlord2026-01-25 17:01
I tried swimming with Koholosaur from the summer island back to Ochkanatlan, and it despawned after some distance.
_myoru2026-01-25 18:23
That's weird, I took a koholasaur all the way from the flower feather clan's coast to the summer island without any problems. It took near forever to get there but fuck it, I wanna hear the moment the music changes when you enter the new area.
It was especially amazing when taking the waverider from Asase shrine to go to Tsurumi island and hearing the background music's mood change completely
SHIN-YOKU2026-01-25 17:07
They did? I just figured I was too dumb to find it the bot and just Furina'd across.
MegaAssasine_2026-01-25 18:53
Unlike with the new Nod-Krai Region, you can go there by Quest, like you did with the first Nod-Krai Region or Inazuma back in the day. You have to teleport to the new Region
Purple-Preference-202026-01-25 15:54
Worst part: When I tried using a Saurus to get ho there (I don't remember the name, the hydro one, basically) I got teleported to the location's waypoint (or back to Natlan, I sadly don't remember anymore), which made my 15 minute trip basically worthless.

In the past, if they update new area or region. They MAKE YOU WALK/SWIM/Use boat THERE to unlock the first Waypoint. People complaint about this, so they started put AT LEAST 1 WAYPOINT to satisfy those people.
Now, in the future, complained WHY There's one waypoint. When can use BOAT and ETC.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:13
Its called "Complain impact" for a reason
Exploration and the music are my priority of enjoyability for this game
People really be complaining about exploration and skip button in a story focused open world game
xyzqsrb02026-01-25 16:27
I don't understand how sitting on a boat to get there is any more exploration than this lol
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:30
It is. Also if everybody could understand everything the world wouldn't be as it is.
babangelsin2026-01-25 16:29
tbh people complaining about lack of skip button is none of your business as it doesn't affect you or anybody who wouldn't use it, it is just you acting entitled
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:43
Majority of genshin player don't even know the L of 'L'ore. Imagine having a skip button
They would accept the quest fight the mobs and claim the chest and then would complain about why they are not "feeling it anymore" "why it became tideous". Theres definitely a difference in enjoyability there
But you are right at the fact that i have no business there.
babangelsin2026-01-25 16:18
FYI the small indie company can do both
ie. You can get to southern fontaine from sumeru, take the aquabus into Fontaine City, or just take a teleporter directly north of Fontaine City. This satisfies both parties.
Due_StrawMany2026-01-25 16:26
You can still do that but I miss the boat one
proxy19c2026-01-25 16:05
Because it wasn't exactly fun for everyone. You still have free will tho and you can just ignore it!
Aromatic_Inspector892026-01-25 17:53
The fact that I had to scroll far to find this is crazy. People act like the waypoints put a gun on their head to use it. Although I do agree that the in-game boat system should've been more utilized to encourage exploration. There's a bajillion waypoints for you to unlock why stress over a single one (per region)
kifune892026-01-25 16:06
Yeah I already feel we have less time to use "mitaboru" in game recently despite so many water.

I’m a Furina haver yet my favourite ice bridging team is Qiqi > Mualani > Kaeya to wait the cooldown.
rorschach_blots2026-01-26 01:11
Mualani?
knetka2026-01-26 01:29
I imagine Maulani can surf, which means you can take advantage of that and Qiqi skill to form ice islands and then swap to Kaeya to have a safespot while you wait for their CDs.
rorschach_blots2026-01-26 01:32
I thought you could only do the skill swap thing in Natlan, otherwise you'll be wasting time hovering by a small amount of ice just to switch to Kaeya and hit skill.
Maybe my ping is just too high to relate to this.
Mobile-Database66012026-01-26 03:28
Maybe the qiqi skill adds enough of a ice ring for you to stop on it and restart the cycle? Unsure eitherway
rorschach_blots2026-01-26 03:40
But then how would you start Qiqi's skill if you're already surfing as Mualani? Ah well.

Sufficient-Habit6642026-01-25 19:12
that data is from people who 36-starred abyss, so it's a bit skewed. it should be quite a bit lower when looking at total playerbase, but it would still be an insane stat even after correction.
knetka2026-01-26 01:30
It's also data from people who upload to that site, so you got alot of things leaning into heavily meta invested folks.
SvensonIV2026-01-26 02:07
The whole data is pointless imo. It’s so heavily skewed towards invested players who even go the extra mile and upload their data. It’s like doing a survey on tomshardware about IT knowledge and then extrapolating that data to apply it towards all people using a PC.
al_jose3712026-01-25 19:00
Yep. This is probably part of the reason why they phased off the Waverider. I actually wanted to pull her but even after spending 260+ pulls on various rerun banners... She never came.
I'll attempt next rerun
FunBuilding27072026-01-25 19:07
>spending 260+ pulls
It's like you should've save it enough for a guarantee for Furina or something.
sampat62562026-01-25 19:36
Hindsight is 20/20, not 50/50
FunBuilding27072026-01-25 20:08
20/20 and 50/50 are both equal to 1. Checkmate, atheists.
al_jose3712026-01-25 21:02
I mean, it's not like Furina was some ultimate Goal or anything. Every time I see a Furina rerun banner, I spend all my saved up primos and try to farm some more until the banner is gone. I mean, after all, I skipped her first banner for Navia.
Furina is easily the most wanted character of all released characters for me, but I'm not soo crazy that I'll skip other characters I like that may never return anytime soon for Furina alone.
For example, I lost my 50/50 and Still hit 73 pity on her last rerun banner. I was saving up for her ever since I got the information about the rerun. But also, During the Nod-Krai period, I pulled Emilie and Nilou, both I also liked and I know may take a long time to return.(Also pulled Citlali at the end of the Natlan patch. Easily my favourite character I pulled in a rerun and among my top 5).
I get what you are saying and yes, I would have done that if there weren't any other character I care for. But as of right now, I am simply gonna pull characters I really like and dump whatever I had saved up if Furina rerun comes back. She has very high priority but not enough to save up in anticipation for a future rerun. I'll dump all the savings if Sandrone becomes playable before Furina for example

therogueheart19672026-01-25 16:20
Actually, they were listening to the players when they started opening new regions with a waypoint pre-activated. Certain groups of players complained about being made to "waste time" getting to new regions so they started adding in one pre-unlocked waypoint.
Now players are complaining there's a pre-unlocked waypoint.
MiHoYo certainly has it's flaws but there are a lot of scenarios where they are simply damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Costyn172026-01-25 16:11
I don't see what a ship trip black screen text has to do with exploration. You still get teleported there with or without the boat.
The civilian route is that any civilian can take a boat from anywhere in Nod Krai and go there.

ChaHa_alt2026-01-25 16:23
the fact that there's no way to go there without a TP makes the world feel so artificial. Which is on brand for Nod Krai I guess, but it sucks for people who enjoy exploring open WORLDS.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:24
Exactly what i was trying to say. I needed the realism here.
Far_Young_26662026-01-25 16:30
I completely agree. They also do that with sub regions. We drop into Enkanomiya without any proper way back. Same with the Chasm, miners somehow go up and down, but we can only teleport
Real-Contest49142026-01-25 16:34
There places in the chasm you can actually climb back up to the over world.
One takes you back up to the chasm, the other brings you to an area in sumeru near the chasm.
Far_Young_26662026-01-25 17:26
After you get done with the Chasm world quest, there are miners all over the first area where the main entrance is, but no elevator for them to use
The_New_Overlord2026-01-25 17:02
> Which is on brand for Nod Krai I guess
What do you mean? Nod Krai doesn't feel artificial at all imo, just a bit small.
Lbbm_burner_account2026-01-25 17:12
I think they mean in the literal sense, that nod krai was an artificial creation of Nibelung, failing to materialize the fourth moon.
The_New_Overlord2026-01-25 17:17
Ah, I see
wickedr2026-01-25 17:25

GravityW_D392026-01-25 16:23
you can just like, NOT, use it? it's optional, you have the option to not acknowledge that waypoint and just progress through the story and went there normally, or use other means (kaeyaking, furinaing, whatever) to go there...
this instead is really good for some people, especially new players who want to unlock new regions quickly to get new character materials. i for example, use my other account to go there and unlock other waypoints so my main account can farm columbina flowers. if i can't use that teleport, and other auto unlock teleports like in natlan, i have to trek all the way through liyue, sumeru, natlan, and from what i can see after the teleport point northernmost of natlan, new players without furina have no other means to go to nod krai other than kaeya bridge their way to nod krai, which is only fun back when i discovering stuff in 1.0 but sounds like torture now as an endgame player, especially after all that trek and i also have to unlock more teleports in nod krai after that, just to get some flowers for my main account...
Grand_Protector_Dark2026-01-25 16:44
>or use other means (kaeyaking, furinaing, whatever) to go there...
Ice bridging which is painfully slow or Furina water walking which not every player has access to.
Those are not "real" alternative means of getting there.
What OP is talking about could be solved easily by either 1. Just a forced story teleport with a black screen that says "boat travel or something", a waverider waypoint or an in-game travel boat like Chenyue vale.
>this instead is really good for some people, especially new players who want to unlock new regions quickly to get new character materials. i
Ok and?
Those are not mutually exclusive.
Having an immersive way to organically arrive at the destination, doesn't mean that you can't also have an already unlocked teleport point.
Lucassmm2026-01-25 16:56
I don’t think the issue is having the option to teleport. The real problem is that we have **no way** to reach the new islands without ice-bridging. In many other nations we have actual boats, but there’s nothing like that in Nod-Krai or even in Natlan...
TheArmed501st2026-01-25 16:24
They could at least have the decency to give us waverider points.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:26
Agree on that
Kr4ckle2026-01-25 16:36
Such a wasted transport. During its initial implementation, I expected for the rest of the regions to be updated with waverider waypoints to be placed on ports... but they just shafted it.
R-Dagashi2026-01-25 16:58
They could've done so much more with the waverider, added upgrades, expanded exploration options to water areas, etc. Instead we got a one-off deal with a boat that uses up stamina for some reason. What, does the Traveler actually manually paddle the boat inside or something?
The_New_Overlord2026-01-25 17:00
They really need to bring them back, and get rid of the stamina bars on them. Boats should not have stamina bars.
hahanoitsu2026-01-25 17:11
nah it shd be a heat bar, increasing instead of decreasing, if the boat gets too hot the engine must cool down so the boat is slower.
The_New_Overlord2026-01-25 17:17
That's still a bullshitty, unnecessary restriction for something that doesn't need a nerf in the first place.
I-LEWDED-MY-SISTER2026-01-25 17:41

I have a theory about the Waveriders, that is it's a cyclical pedal geared that converts n rotations from the traveller to n rotations to the propeller of the Boat, and as traveller is powerful, it's gearing can wear away, so the Lube runs-out after every boost it gets and had to re-lube itself, to not wear out totally, Lube here can mean elemental composition. And no need of lubing during normal functioning because it's running at it's most efficient mode.
_justforamin_2026-01-25 18:17
it would also be cool if you could have your friend sit or possibly control the cannon in them. like a 2 person boat. for the overworld
KH3582026-01-25 21:40
to do what? shoot what? lol there is nothing to do with the cannon apart from the very small amount of puzzles
DaedricEtwahl2026-01-25 21:43
Sounds like a good opportunity to add some dudes out there to fight
KH3582026-01-25 21:46
i wish 😭😭😭😭 would be fun
PoMatPlay2026-01-26 03:37
Some pirate boats to battle would be nice
dumdub2026-01-25 19:16
What about when the boat gets tired? Boats need rest too!
Silver-Kale59552026-01-25 19:20
They stopped it by respecting meatoboru's death 😞
JaySlay20002026-01-25 22:02
It's miitoboru, but his actual name is kosekimaru. FAKE FAN smh
kuburas2026-01-25 17:36
I kinda understood why they didnt put any in Fontaine, but Natlan and now Nod Krai have no reason not to have them.
caucassius2026-01-25 18:57
what? there's plenty of waverider points in fontaine lol
that was the last time the thing was relevant in the game. its last hurrah.
Yubbi452026-01-25 19:27
Natlan you're supposed to use the Koholasaurs
But it's not the same!
egudu2026-01-25 22:11
> Natlan you're supposed to use the Koholasaurs
But what do normal citizens use? This is what OP means.
CascaDEER2026-01-25 17:56
They were around for three major patches... Introduced in Inazuma, been in Sumeru for important waterways, and in Fontaine even though You could swim indefenitely. Shafted is a way too strong of a word for such a minor mechanic anyway
Treyspurlock2026-01-25 23:53
They were introduced right before Inazuma actually, in 1.6
h2odragon002026-01-25 18:58
I know that HYV has been trying to make the game more casual but I don't think its that hard to put a waverider point on both sides and have people go there, summon one up and go to the new island.
h2odragon002026-01-25 18:55
I forgot Waverider exist. Probably HYV too.
xyzqsrb02026-01-25 16:26
I don't really understand the issue.

ThePoetessOfLesbos2026-01-25 16:28
Lore immersion ruined 😞
Is there at least a waverider somewhat nearby?

No there isn't. That is my biggest complain

shskatchegg2026-01-25 16:29
eh I just imagine we just got off some boat, I don't need a cutscene for that and I'd definitely rather have an unlocked waypoint than actually doing the mini boat thing
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:34
I would have preferred that mini boat thing. But atp i get it that it was there for the new players to farm mats easily
ThePoetessOfLesbos2026-01-25 16:51
Nah, I want a boat cutscene. We had one for Inazuma haha. I really liked the cutscene for entering the Chasm too, but unfortunately I only got it after completing the Chasm quests because I didnt go the proper route
youtubeismydayjob2026-01-25 16:29
Because people kept complaining about having to travel, I remember when fontaine came out and everyone was giving out about the waypoint not being clearer. Unfortunately some people just like to complain about everything and anything.
al_jose3712026-01-25 16:31
YESSS. I was also sad. I mean, I don't mind having a teleport waypoint for easy access. But I ALSO WANT BOAT. And a cool entry to the new region from the old region. All they had to do was add a Waverider waypoint somewhere in the old region. I even looked for the nearest boat I can just take all the way to Nod-Krai and it was too far😭
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:44
Samee
alexcercia2026-01-25 16:31
I know, i hate that, it was way better when we had to walk to the new regions, exploring is the main point of the game, we have to thank to all the crybabies who were bitching about fast teleports.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:45
They should have at least keep a waverider point there for us ppl
luxyuz2026-01-25 16:36
It would cost them little to setup a boat like Fountain has, but they know people will use it once and forget.
CortexArt252026-01-25 16:36
I also dislike this kind of thing. Nodkrai has ships and ports. Why not create an NPC in one of the ports to take us there? Immediately teleporting across the sea breaks the immersion and feels cheap. I also disliked that this was the intended way to reach the Easybreeze Holiday Resort.
Also, I almost forgot, the game has had a functional boat mechanic since the 1.6 Summer Event, so it would make sense to have access to it in Nod Krai.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:48
But sadly some ppl here don't care about the immersion, realism and all
cold-Hearted-jess2026-01-25 16:50
Wouldn't an npc bringing you there be practically the same? It's clicking a button and being teleported there
Secret_Conclusion_932026-01-25 19:48
Easybreeze is the weirdest one.
We teleported and then our friend came from a boat. I think canonically Traveler went there with a boat, as the starting spot is a pier.
CanWe_SaveHex2026-01-25 16:36

Ads10132026-01-25 16:38
Cus they are hard selling Bina, and if any new/returning player got her they’d have to walk for 2 hours + do all of Mondstadt to start leveling her
I do wish there was a wave rider point by the Final Night Cemetary or something, and more wave rider points in general….
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:51
Hmm i kinda have to forgive the waypoint thingy here. But won't forgive for not adding any waverider
kamain422026-01-25 16:39
Probably more a storage /asset thing. If you have ever walked from Natlan to Sumeru there is a large chunk of land with no chests, no monsters. Just birds. I don't know what that represents in storage but that is space being used for notherm
1Yawnz2026-01-25 16:43
I didnt even notice and used Furina to walk across lol
durinmain2026-01-25 16:43
I think its there for people complaining about not having an actual way to go there , also it gets you to do the quest faster
Human_in_Denial2026-01-25 16:43
I didn't notice the waypoint and icebridged over. So nostalgic.
Iskaru2026-01-25 16:46
Yeah... It's starting to get really immersion breaking. I feel that it started with 5.0, I really hoped we would get an expansion of the Sumeru desert that we'd have to cross through and then transition into Natlan, but instead we just got this empty narrow passage and the Sumeru desert is just abruptly cut off by water now. The expansion in 5.2 was good since it actually opened up areas connected to previous areas, I personally really like it when it's possible to go to the borders and trying to see what's in the locked future regions, and imagining that the road you're on in the future will be an open path... But ever since that patch, every expansion has almost exclusively been disconnected islands. It just doesn't feel believable.
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:52
💯
esmelusina2026-01-25 17:19
Natlan was beautiful to walk to, so while the teleport being unlocked is a little lame, it was also easy to hoof it.
Fontaine gave us a nice water ferry into the city, which was amazing. The cave in the chasm leading to sumeru was magical. The cutscene / boat ride to Inazuma was epic. And passing the stone gate for the first time is pretty majestic.
Nod Krai was like… I can’t even remember what happened. Such a terrible transition.
Any-Zookeepergame8292026-01-25 18:11
Stonegate?
I first saw Liyue by suffering through Dragonspine, lmao
_myoru2026-01-25 18:25
And that's why now they added a short WQ near the statue of the seven in Dawn winery where you have to help a girl reach liyue and it brings you through the Stone Gate lol
Any-Zookeepergame8292026-01-25 18:26
Yeah, lmao
Ngl, it was more rewarding that way, though. Was one of the first uses of Chinese culture I had seen in media at that point and it was stunning.
r_renfield2026-01-25 18:18
I tried to fly to Nod Krai from Ochkanatlan and failed miserably lol. Had to teleport anyway
lepetitprincecaspian2026-01-25 21:20
Your comment just inspired me to fly to Nod-Krai from Tonatiuh. With Amber/Venti/Collei buff + Ororon/Xianyun buff + gliding food + wind gadget I could glide all the way to the Experimental Design Bureau with full stamina bar. The view over the ocean after breaking through the clouds was nothing short of magnificent! I highly recommend experiencing it.
astasli2026-01-25 20:59
We had a boat ride from Natlan to Nod Krai with Ineffa? It was the literal first part of the archon quest?
> The cutscene / boat ride to Inazuma was epic
This is either revisionist as hell or extremely nostalgia visioned. It was a black screen with text and then we were there.
Pollsmor2026-01-25 17:40
It actually happened with 4.0. They unlock the waypoint on the Sumeru cliff across from Romaritime Harbor as soon as you beat the Mondstadt story.
Zonnebloempje2026-01-25 22:24
And in 3.0, with a waypoint in the Chasm (overground), leading to a tunnel to Sumeru.
mizukis_ribbon2026-01-25 16:46
I think this is a confirmation that they scrapped away the whole Waverider Point thing.
Extinctkid2026-01-25 16:47

axelfoley0012026-01-25 16:47

quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:54
Or cuz the weaks crying got louder..
Xtranathor2026-01-25 16:52
To get to Nod Krai, I actually glided all the way there. I'm not sure you could do that for this one, but there are multiple ways of achieving it. Too bad there are no wave riders.
Silly_Guidance_88712026-01-25 16:54
Speaking as a programmer, it's about cost: If they put in a boat, that's scripting, testing, etc. for something that'll be used *once* by most players (something I'm sure they learned from Fontaine). Black screen with text, or an unlocked teleport, frees up time and money for other things
Heiro782026-01-25 16:54
I used Furina to walk over. My thalossophobia was triggered regularly
quie_TLost572026-01-25 16:56

Diado-K2026-01-25 16:54
I agree with you… the fact that the region are not connected with land is so sad
algunarubia2026-01-25 16:59
To me, if feels like they got lazy with this region because they spent all their time and energy on the Archon quest. That's why there are so many double chests as well.
TMXsB2026-01-25 16:59
when i first saw the new map i thought we would transform into a kuhenki from the island above flins's home and it would bring us there but i guess not, walked with furina all the way to the new area.
esztersunday2026-01-25 16:59
I walked there with Furina.
International_Meat882026-01-25 16:59
Yeah, I don’t like it when they do this.
It’s like they’re part of the continuous open world, but in name only.
Almost as if it’s of those separate maps like Enkanomiya or the atlantis-esque region underneath Fontaine, pretending to be part of the open world.
x1nsomn1ac2026-01-25 17:00
Yeah I had to walk all the way with furina
McSqueakers2026-01-25 17:01
The quest will always naturally take you to the new region. The way point is there for farming mats if you arent there yet story wise.
Just_a_captain_III2026-01-25 17:04
I do find it convenient. I got Columbina so I needed to get her flowers and me being lazy this helped a ton.
Soviet1342026-01-25 17:07
Thank god they do them, because it is a pain for the new players to farm new mats
fatyslayor2026-01-25 17:20
Ahh fellow Skyrim enjoyer..... I'm afraid you cant turn Genshin into realism mod
hhhhhBan2026-01-25 18:09
It's all about materials for early game players. Otherwise how would a new player who pulled Columbina ever get her past 40? Going into several other people's worlds and hoping they'll hand over the materials, or playing for tens of hours to even get there? Having an automatically unlocked waypoint completely solves that issue.
derBruno_2026-01-25 18:12
Accessibility for new players who need materials
Honest_Milk_82742026-01-25 18:24
Because if you reach Nodkrai by doing the Archon Quest, you DO actually take a boat to get there. This waypoint is there so new people can explore the new region without needing to complete the previous quest chain. It has been this way since 4.0
leafrek2026-01-25 21:52
Yeah but this is the waypoint to the newest island. You’re thinking about the wrong one.
Zonnebloempje2026-01-25 21:58
Entering Nod Krai from Nathan by AQ (and giving out the Free Waypoint at the port in Nasha Town), I understand. But the one OP is talking about, makes no sense. There is no way that people from the first three islands can get to Piramida, nor Vice Versa.
Naiinsky2026-01-25 19:03
You have the option to ice bridge your way through. It's what I did.
Tripdrakony2026-01-25 19:12
So newer players that pull for new character aren't stuck with a level 40/60 character for ages.
Geo_Daddyx2026-01-26 11:42
You have a free will not to use it. Probably some players are working? Studying? Not all people have the same free time as you do. Cut us some slack and play the game.

So it was only fontaine and natlan who've done this atrocity in the name of exploration and realism. (Even for fontaine we started from sumeru at least)
Like yes you get a waypoint unlocked for Fontain and Natland, but anyone in game can also just walk to Natland. In Fontain'e case, someone with wind glider can fly there.
I don't think a wind glider would make it easy to glide upwards, if you don't have strong enough wind currents.
Ok, but most of those regions still have "natural", exploration based ways of arriving at that new area, if one wants to choose to travel there manually.
There isn't really any manual/organic way to get to the new nod krai expansion.
I didn't bother checking Nod Krai untils someone joined to pick Columbina flowers, and they said no prob as there's already a TP unlocked. I followed them over and got caught by cutscenes then a battle vs unkillable things right after the bridge outside. XD
in nod krai newest section, bunch of things can be killed with overworld mechanic (if u choose to use it)
fontaine underwater is worse for newbs IMO bc no immediate heals u gotta look for them. i dont recommend using or getting dehya, but if a newbie has her she is almost always my rec for fontaine underwater and dragonspine due to her self heals. makes it way easier when things will swallow u whole in regions like that
It was especially amazing when taking the waverider from Asase shrine to go to Tsurumi island and hearing the background music's mood change completely
COOL IT COOL IT COOL IT DODGE THIS COOL IT
Now, in the future, complained WHY There's one waypoint. When can use BOAT and ETC.
Exploration and the music are my priority of enjoyability for this game
People really be complaining about exploration and skip button in a story focused open world game
They would accept the quest fight the mobs and claim the chest and then would complain about why they are not "feeling it anymore" "why it became tideous". Theres definitely a difference in enjoyability there
But you are right at the fact that i have no business there.
ie. You can get to southern fontaine from sumeru, take the aquabus into Fontaine City, or just take a teleporter directly north of Fontaine City. This satisfies both parties.
I tried an ice bridge with Ayaka but my skills have rusted and it's been a while.
I had to teleport
Maybe my ping is just too high to relate to this.
I'll attempt next rerun
It's like you should've save it enough for a guarantee for Furina or something.
Wanted to explore the sea
How many time I got kit by lighting while doing ice bridge 😂
Now players are complaining there's a pre-unlocked waypoint.
MiHoYo certainly has it's flaws but there are a lot of scenarios where they are simply damned if they do and damned if they don't.
One from another region.
The civilian route is that any civilian can take a boat from anywhere in Nod Krai and go there.
One takes you back up to the chasm, the other brings you to an area in sumeru near the chasm.
What do you mean? Nod Krai doesn't feel artificial at all imo, just a bit small.
this instead is really good for some people, especially new players who want to unlock new regions quickly to get new character materials. i for example, use my other account to go there and unlock other waypoints so my main account can farm columbina flowers. if i can't use that teleport, and other auto unlock teleports like in natlan, i have to trek all the way through liyue, sumeru, natlan, and from what i can see after the teleport point northernmost of natlan, new players without furina have no other means to go to nod krai other than kaeya bridge their way to nod krai, which is only fun back when i discovering stuff in 1.0 but sounds like torture now as an endgame player, especially after all that trek and i also have to unlock more teleports in nod krai after that, just to get some flowers for my main account...
Having an immersive way to organically arrive at the destination, doesn't mean that you can't also have an already unlocked teleport point.
that was the last time the thing was relevant in the game. its last hurrah.
But it's not the same!
