I've been playing for a long time but I think task paralysis from autism makes quests and exploration kinda difficult for me. Taking ideas for how to lock in before ineffa banner ends

Huh? Go find work first
Neoslayer2026-01-25 16:36
What are you even talking about friend
KiteSG2026-01-25 16:35
The order doesn’t matter just randomly click on a quest and track it.
EnGardevoir2026-01-25 16:36
Work from the top down. Start with the topmost quest on your list, and when it's finished, if you still have time for another/more questing, do another one. If the quest is too long to finish in 1 play session, teleport to your favorite city, check to make sure your resin is condensed, and log out until the next time you can play. Next time you login, same strat: top down quest clearing, which should mean you're just continuing the same story you started before. Good luck with it!
Neoslayer2026-01-25 16:37
Thanks for actually making an effort to comment bro, some just seems passive aggressive. I wasnt sure if there were any special quests that stuck out like sore thumbs to anyone, though, or if any were worth skipping. Some have been there for a very long time

Executive dysfunction is the worst. Especially when other people don't take it seriously or just assume you're lazy. It sucks even more when it starts to affect "silly" things like video games. It works the same way that it would if I wasn't able to feed myself due to Executive Dysfunction; it doesn't automatically become easy to overcome just cause it's a video game... It's seriously so exhausting bro
Neoslayer2026-01-25 17:14
It affects the way I eat too. Sometimes I fast for the entire day. You gave a name for this problem I couldn't really figure out fully— only other term I knew was task paralysis.

The ascension challenge is one you should do once you feel like overworld content is getting easy, it's not really a quest in the same sense the others are, it just ups your world level and takes like 10 minutes at most.
Neoslayer2026-01-25 17:27
erm, this seems to be a TCG ascension quest
LunaLucia22026-01-25 17:33
Oh, I didn't even know there was a TCG ascension quest. I guess you can just ignore it then.
EnGardevoir2026-01-25 17:20
No worries, I get what you mean on task paralysis and that's a long list lol. The quests are actually sorted, with the gold ones at the top being archon quests (main story quests). The ones with the purple marker are daily quests but you don't need to do those anymore, and then below those are world quests, which is basically the quest for a specific sub-region. Below that are general short quests. The top down approach is an easy rule of thumb to remember, and focusing on the archon quests first will get you voiced acted quests that tell the main story of Genshin which tends to be a more enjoyable experience. Things like world quests are mostly not voice acted and tell side stories and lore and history of the different nations of the game.
Curiousity10242026-01-25 16:38
If there's a problem , your mission is to overcome it . Why must you blame the gods , Natural orders of things when you think you're at disadvantage
Lazy_Length_9292026-01-25 16:38
Start from the last one on the quest list and work your way upwards. You’ll see that many of those world quests, especially the ones that aren’t the main WQ can be completed pretty quickly.
Neoslayer2026-01-25 16:42
down to up is a new concept to me, why that way in particular?
Holy crap why am I getting downvoted for asking a valid question, when other people are telling me to do top down? holy crap this subreddit is so petty
Lazy_Length_9292026-01-25 16:52
Honestly, I don't know. I think it's because the quests in the top sections are the ones with a blue chapter bar, and within them are several quests and chapters, meaning they're longer. The ones below, which are scattered, are generally shorter, and doing this way I feel like I'm progressing through the list, at least in my mind, basically I like to start from the easy and short ones first.
Neoslayer2026-01-25 16:53
Alright, you're chad, I'll keep that in mind
danking_donut2026-01-25 16:39
I tried doing 100% of an area, along with doing any world quest in it. it's working well for me so far. I also prioritize my current world quest over anything else, so I stop myself from getting distracted and overwhelmed
Neoslayer2026-01-25 16:41
Edit: looks like they're all world quests so I can't sort them 😭
glitchartz2026-01-25 16:44
Most of the time, the less the rewards are, the faster you can complete the quest. So pick those first to clear the list faster. They tend to be placed at the bottom.
Neoslayer2026-01-25 16:45
Valuable information, thank you!
fatyslayor2026-01-25 16:45
What a beautiful sight!
Wish I had em.... I would clear em all in a single sitting
Neoslayer2026-01-25 16:46
And I wish I had that power. but I have learned a few things here already :D I guess for now I need to explore nod krai and try to 100% it with compass for primos, then I'll work on quests
fatyslayor2026-01-25 17:17
Those alone are worth 1.6k primos BTW...
the_tygram2026-01-25 16:47
My first move is grinding through all the archon quest lines until you're caught up. This isn't the best way for story immersion in my opinion, but sadly each update comes with events including event quests and the newest area's exploration rewards which is around 500 primogems. So every patch you're not caught up you're losing 500 free primos.
Once you're caught up on archon then go to your quest log. I minimize them all. Then start at Liyue. See what world quests I have on the list and if any world quest icons are on the map. Then work my way through them. Then the Liyue expansions like the Chasm and Chenyu Vale. After those are complete I do the Story Quests for Liyue characters.
Once all that is done I do the same thing in Inazuma, then Sumeru and so on.

For me, having to lock in makes starting tasks even harder when the original purpose of the game is for entertainment. But if you still insist on doing this, here's my one tip on how I lock in for my non-fun tasks:
Break down your tasks into steps. Make the steps as small as possible, so you always know what exactly you should do next. The size of the steps don't matter as long as you just keep walking. Start with the smallest quests and you'll be fine.
For exploration, just go to the first chest you see and then use the Treasure Compass. Don't worry about methodically planning routes to find everything. That's just one more worry that will hold you back.
Good luck. You can always wait for a rerun if it doesn't work out.
Neoslayer2026-01-25 17:00
Oh, my first exploration comment, thank you.But oof, my dragonspine is at 99%
JackMoon952026-01-25 17:00
I’ve got autism and i clear all my quests, just don’t pick up so many. Do one then move onto the next?
My sister in law is the same with games “there’s too many quests” why are you picking them all up then? Just do the quest and move onto the next
I’d suggest working your way down from the top keep it simple 👍🏻
Neoslayer2026-01-25 17:05
Many Genshin quests trigger automatically just by walking near NPCs; "don't pick them up" isn't always an option. Telling someone with task paralysis to "just do one" is useless. Your experience isn't the universal baseline. That’s why it’s a spectrum, not a leaderboard.
Edit: Thanks for editing the last line in to seem less rude
JackMoon952026-01-25 19:29
Yeah I read it again after and was like “wait maybe that sounds too rude?” Wasn’t my interntion 😅
MDPete2026-01-25 17:00
Im not diagnosed but i do get that overwhelming feeling that theres so much to do especially when coming back from hiatus.
What i do is finish the limited time quests for the primos. Most of them dont spoil the story.
Then i attempt to do them chronologically whether its start from the bottom list or do per region (Liyue and Inazuma)
Its been a while but some of those side quests in yours are pretty quick and easy to finish, for the sake of shortening the list. Id stay away from Natlan and Fontaine ones cause those are pretty long
Neoslayer2026-01-25 17:08
Thanks for narrowing it down for me <3
Yeah I have had a few hiatuses and that messed me up a lot, it's hard to get back in the groove but I'm finally getting back in there
GuildieCast2026-01-25 17:10
My friend is taking the task of doing all the quests in Genshin. They're using the new timeline feature to do them all in their canon order. Maybe set goals to complete things in chunks? Like completing all of a region's quest before the end of next month or something.
