Sandrone kept saying that she was detecting 4 moons in the orbit, but Columbina remained the second godess of the Frost Moon and it was the Frost Moon that was pulled into the firnament. So where did that 4th moon go?
He can't make a moon because the moons are magical generators. He is just a human so he cannot create an energy generator. He can only at best channel energy.
BUT as we saw, the moons weren't that powerful. Arlecchino and the Traveler did not get much of a boost from using the power of the two moons.
Once again the writer contradicted himself.

Did you not play the story

To be exact, she didn't detected 4 moons, she explains later that she detected 4 moon marrows and concluded 4 moons (the 4th being Dottore's false moon marrow)

additional question, what was the welkin moon thing all about? we pulled the frostmoon in the false sky, not a new moon. so what is welkin moon?
jtan19932026-01-26 01:52
it's essentially the frost moon, with the authorities of the two other moons. you can see the splash art has the frost moon with a pink hue, and in game the npc say the moon looks different now.

The thing is that Dottore should have lost all access to the moons the moment they were consolidated into one Columbina.
Or better yet, have the original moon avatars hold onto their moon connection and spend 1000 years drilling through the barrier keeping them from Teyvat. Sure they might not have the power to instantly break it instantly (which isn't possible if they were the source of the dragon's power meaning that shield is made from the power they themselves control so they could use their authority to remove it) but they could break it by constantly damaging it over time.
The writer put zero thought into what they were writing.

My understanding is Sandrone wasn't detecting the moons themselves but rather the energy presence of the moons power. (Aka th moon marrows) We know this because 2 of the moons were destroyed, so if she was actually detecting the moons, it would only detect 1 intact moon. (The frost moon thats still in the sky) So Sandrone realised that it was actually detecting the moon marrows. Which are the physical remains of the 2 moon/moon goddess that were destroyed which housed the divine powers of the moon. (The moons themselves were more like giant self recharging batteries for the moon goddesses)
This gave her 2 pieces of information. One, the false moon marrow that Dottore was designing is most likely completed since it is showing up in her results.
And the other one is that, Columbina has to still exist in some way, since the frost moon goddess didn't leave a marrow when she died since her moon wasn't destroyed. Instead her power was later reincarnated into Columbina. And following this pattern, if Columbina had died, her presense would be gone to be reincarnated hundreds of years later as well. Thus, she concluded Columbina must be still alive in some sense if her divine presense is still showing up on her radar.
Now as for why Dottore was able to make a false frost moon marrow. Well its actually simple. He probably didn't. He probably created something that resembled Columbina's powers, which he had a taste of when he captured her, to the best of his ability. And then using the same principle as when he spoofed the frost moon for the teleportation spell, he did it again with the device so the other marrows recognised it as the frost moon. This probably gave him like slightly over 2/3 of the trilunar powers (depending on how well he managed with the false marrow), which by all intents and purposes would be more than enough against most beings he may come up against (except Columbina who came back with the full trilunar authority).
