I actually got R5 The Catch a loooooooong time ago (I think I got when it released, but I'm not sure) but that didn't even amount to 1000 fishes, so I started going for the other weapons even if I didn't need them, and eventually I got pretty close to 2000 lol

I got the first two pretty quickly and the main motivation to get the last one was Toki Alley, I got the Toki achievement this week at around 1.3k fishes and since 2000 was so close I pushed through to get the remaining 700

To be completely honest, I thought the same, and that's why it took a whole year to finish it.
I was extremely against this achievement, so much so that on the achievement tracker I wrote a note on this achievement that said "I refuse" but with enough patience and a lot of TV shows playing on the second monitor, I got the Toki Alley one and that made me push through to get this one.

Lol. My husband has ended fishing for The Catch a long time ago, but still has no Toki Alley Tales fished out. Meanwhile, mine were almost all out of the ponds by the time I finished fishing for The Catch.
I like fishing. Just not Paimon. In my next survey, I will ask that Paimon's fishing voicelines are replaced ASAP, as well as them adding Pyro Traveler's Battle voicelines. I hate it that my main Traveler is still silent when I use him in battle. It should not take that long to add something that is used so often.

To counter paimon's voice lines, I would just mute her while fishing our lower the game enough to watch something else on the side and that would muffle her voice. If I actually listened to her, I would go insane.

I don't know. I don't use bow characters very often, due to playing on mobile and I just don't seem to get it. I may use Collei or Tighnari as a second Dendro, especially when fighting the Dendro Hypostasis. Or use Amber for lighting fires, though when they adjusted Yanfei's auto-aim, I was so happy, because she is very much built, while Amber is only built so she doesn't die.... I think in my main, I have this bow on Amber.

I have no idea, I did a 2-hour session of fishing every once in a while and that usually gave me something between 100 and 200 fishes every time. So you can kinda guess how long I spent fishing from that, but it's not a very precise math I'm sorry

It's honestly not that terrible. The act of fishing does not require the player to pay much attention so you can watch something while fishing. Every time I was going to watch an extremely long youtube video, I would start genshin and would go fishing. I started doing that after a thousand fishes and since it took only a week to get to 2k after months stuck around the 1k mark, it clearly worked to motivate me.

I think the best way to get this achievement is passively while doing a more "doable" one. I did it while trying to get the Toki Alley pages and while I tried to clean the Natlan and Nod Krai shops, so I wasn't really looking if I was getting closer to 2k until I was at the 1.7k mark

Funnily enough, I think the planter one was way easier to get. It takes a long time, but you don't have to actually do anything for more than 5 minutes, just pop in the teapot once every 3 days to replant valberries and one day you get the achievements. Honestly tho, you can start anytime and do it in your own pace, just like the fishing ones.

I did get every single fishing weapon to R5, but for some reason that took less than 2k fishes caught. So I started to only fish in Inazuma to try and get the Toki Alley pages before 2k, which brought me close to 1.7k and after that I decided to also clean out the fishing association shops in Natlan and Nod-Krai and that was the 2k mark.
Doing those "side quests" while fishing was the reason I didn't go insane and also the reason why I took so long to get the achievement. Took me so long that this one was the last achievement available to me, finally putting me in 1672 mark.

compare to commission locked achievement or RNG based achievement for that matter is the worse offender imo. This and leyline achievement are something you will get eventually if you go out of your way to do it every other day since doing dailies and spending resin are like 5minutes ordeal

I think it's a comparison that depends solely on your luck. I, for example, got the dailies achievements a long time ago, so they weren't that exhausting to get, but this one actually took a long time and "effort". But I can see a reverse situation where you easily catch the 2k fishes, but don't get lucky with dailies.

yea i realized that as i reread all the comment. I really only play for achievement unlocking and world exploration completion. I had just spent a month worth of resin everyday on just leyline farming as a 9 months old player and got the achievement last week or so, since i had total less daily RNG commission to work with so i dislike the rng element more
EDIT: I just looked at the fishing achievement in game for mine , am at 509 after trying to fish all the pages at Inazuma and cross checking the wiki page. Likely 40 days+ if i focus on fishing now

RNG is a bitch and truly can fuck up any plans on getting the daily that you need. They did enhance the chance that you'll get a commission related to an achievement if you have not gotten the achievement yet. So I guess they are trying to improve this aspect of the game.
However, I still think the fishing and the ley line ones are the worst of the bunch. The fishing one because it requires a lot of time and the Ley Line just forces you to spend resin, which is a scarce resource.

Man i remember doing this in one day when the fishing mechanic was introduced many years ago. They had an event which let you fish infinitely in Liyue and looking back on it, i don’t know how i pushed through. lol

I don't if it's because I love Stardew Valley, but the fishing minigame isn't that bad for me since it's so similar to SDV, which is an all-time favorite game of mine. I think I got that one in the update when fishing was introduced. I must have spend nearly an entire night fishing some the event fish just to make it to 2'000 fishes. It did not cost me resources since I could simply ask an NPC for a never ending suply of an event-exclusive fish bait. I still don't know what came over me that night. I ended up going to bed way passed 1-2 AM, I think.

When I finally did The Flowers That Won't Grow three times, I got the wrong version of When Flowers Bloom and had no idea that if I did it, I would have to redo The Flowers That Won't Grow three times again. This was hell, getting three times was hard enough, getting six was just torture.

However, I still think the fishing and the ley line ones are the worst of the bunch. The fishing one because it requires a lot of time and the Ley Line just forces you to spend resin, which is a scarce resource.
Doing this solely for primos is kinda of stupid, lol. I did it because I like getting achievements, I now have 1672, which is the amount available currently and that makes me satisfied with myself.

Tbf, it took 1 year, but I got more than half of it just in the last two weeks so if you actually lock in it doesn't take that long, especially now since we have so many fishing spots.
I did it solely for the completionist in me. Getting to 1672 achievements was the goal here, not those 20 primos lol

I was stuck at 1k for a long time and last week I decided to lock tf in and get those last 1k + the toki alley pages, and it paid off only a week later

And giving fishes as a gift is a genius idea, since the fishing spawn is kinda RNG some friends of mine suffered to get a few fishing weapons because the fish would not show up while I had more than 50 of them because of this achievement. Might even suggest this one on the next survey.

I also wish that the other nations got fishing weapons, don't really understand why hoyo didn't implement them. I guess it's another feature they forgot they created, lol

I already did TCG for the achievements and this fishing one was the last one I could get at the moment, so I'm off to create a new goal lol
I just fish for requirement like for lure, weapon blueprint, fishing rod etc whatever the fish association on all region offers. I think I got it during fontaine release.
I have every achievement possible currently and that makes me satisfied with myself, that's the only reason I would do this. Besides, I don't mind fishing again when future regions have new fishing association shops, just because I've reached the achievement, doesn't mean I won't ever fish again.
When I finally did The Flowers That Won't Grow three times, I got the wrong version of When Flowers Bloom and had no idea that if I did it, I would have to redo The Flowers That Won't Grow three times again. This was hell, getting three times was hard enough, getting six was just torture.
