Getting back into genshin.

i havent played in 3-4 years and the last thing i remmeber was finishing the sumeru archon quest with Nahida but besides that i havent touched the game. I wanna return to continue with the story but is there anything i should know? Like new gameplay mechanics or how different the meta is? I use hu tao with mona and xinqiu and i have good artifacts on them so i hope i can still use them

depends on where exactly you wanna use them, overworld bosses, domains and weekly bosses should be alright but you aren't clearing endgame content with them, new gameplay mechanics generally have in game tutorials first time you encounter so so just reading through the popups should teach everything you need to know about any mechanics in the new region

you're probably gonna have to get a lot of new characters to be able to clear the endgame content but you don't really need to interact with those gamemodes if you don't like them and it's gonna take a while to even get good enough artifacts and teams to be able to challenge endgame content.

hu tao isn't really that useful for endgame but if you really want to use her i think you can use furina/yelan/xilonen or get columbina and ineffa(both currently on banner).

mona recently got some buffs and can be used with some characters like durin and mualani which should be able to clear most endgame and xingqui is still works with hu tao instead of yelan and can be used with arlecchino and hu tao for vapourise.

Currently if you don't mind getting new characters i'd recommend going for ineffa(on current banner) or zibai(on the next banner) and if you can get columbina as columbina can work with both pretty well should be able to deal with endgame, besides that flins is rerunning in the next version and works well with ineffa and should also be able to deal with most difficult content alongside her, if you can't get multiple characters right now try getting ineffa then get flins or get zibai instead and she should be good enough alongside the 4 stars on her banner to atleast do abyss, beyond that you have to wait and see who's rerunning and whether you want to get those characters or not since you have to also get supports for any given character if you want to use them in endgame.
