Do you think teasers such as the ignition teaser or winter's night lazzo are canon to the story ?
Disclaimer, I like how genshin does its teasers. It’s their way of hyping up the community and building momentum. I also enjoy analyzing teasers and theorizing about what new information we can get from them.
But recently, I’ve had another thought. I rewatched all the trailers and realized that not all scenes in them actually happen or are canon in the main story. For example, the Ignition teaser includes several such scenes, the ball-passing scene, capitano scene, and even the last scene with mavuika.
Another example is dottore burning the irminsul tree. Some people said that the developers mentioned this would happen in the future. But if that’s the case, why show that scene after Inazuma AQ was finished ? It creates a false expectation, since the next region is sumeru.
So back to the question, do you think teasers are canon to the story?
For me, regional teasers like the ignition teaser and the song of the welkin moon teaser are non canon. They feel more like marketing tools to introduce new characters. Meanwhile, the teyvat chapter interlude teaser is something I still want to believe is canon.

I do believe Mavuika and the others have a band, they even played music in the story.

Since the scene itself doesn’t actually happen
Truth among the pages of Purana is still conveniently missing as a title drop for an AQ in Sumeru. And Irminsul been the focus of Sumeru story is a fact per the original AQ. So its burning is still on the table
Pyro Gemstone is still censored and Mavuika still has the gnosis
Capitano is still alive and breathing, just sitting down because he cant stand more dumb theories about him
Thats all there is to it
It just creates false expectations for the following AQs
If it’s a Natlan teaser, of course I would expect it to tease the upcoming Natlan content, not Natlan content that will happen 1–2 years later. They can always make another teaser for that later.
It’s like watching a frieren season 1 teaser, but the content is actually for season 2.
OP however expects every region to be finished and then never getting content again or something
If you still don’t understand, it’s like DC releasing a teaser for upcoming superman 2, but the teaser is actually about Superman 3
Neither Frieren or Superman are "eternal" they are going to end eventually, they dont get consistent updates every 6 weeks, nor have to keep their "players" engaged for a long time
So dropping teasers about the future of the story does precisely that just fine
Plus, its said that WNL was released as a parry this you filthy casual to leakers after they leaked Sumeru almost entirely
I don’t mind WNL. Like I said, i believe that the Teyvat chapter is still canon. They usually tease future story content under the same title, like the gods limit teaser and the travail teaser.
What I have a problem with is when a region teaser doesn’t connect to its respective AQs. Not just Natlan, I feel the same way about the Fontaine and Nodkrai teasers. It’s just that for Fontaine and Nodkrai, they didn’t tease much story-related content and mostly focused on introducing the upcoming characters.
If they want to tease future Natlan content, that’s fine with me. Just don’t put it in the same video that’s specifically meant to promote Natlan’s "first act." Because that is confusing.

And Natlan didnt? Introduced the roster of playable characters, and revealed the fatui that would go to Natlan, leaving a few surprises for later(Ifa,Varesa,Escoffier and Skirk).

It wasnt for the "first act" it was a generalistic teaser, just as much as Nod Krai or Fontaine, to introduce the pawns for the region conflict. Thats it

Natlan did, but it also add story(?) teaser that was unrelated to the act 1-4 of natlan AQs

Maybe, I don’t know what their internal marketing team was thinking. But whatever they were thinking, the fact is that it set expectations (at least for me) for what we would get in Acts 1–4 of the Natlan AQs, and those expectations were not delivered.
When it happened in game, it made me realize the trailers are more or less canon, and Hoyoverse just has dumb writing from time to time.
\^ this are the people complaining about Natlan btw
Is band practice what they all do on the weekends when they're clearly *not* preparing for an Abyss incursion?
I'll suspend my disbelief for a lot of things, but this one is just stupid to the point of absurdity.
*Hey, I didn't see Joe Bob at the farm today.*
"Yeah, he had band practice with Tom Brady, Elon Musk, and Jesus Christ. He'll be in tomorrow."
Ignition has a lot of theories surrounding it because almost everything that happens makes far more sense AFTER Act V of Natlan.
