Anybody Else So Excited For Varka
Man, It's been so long since we heard about him way way back. Now, he's finally coming soon. I didnt quite like how theyve treated him in Nodkrai's story considering all the things we've heard about him but at least he'll be playable very soon. Havent opened youtube or whatever in fear of leaks. Seldom visited this site as well but cant wait. Minimum C2 for him.

Like 90% of Varka wanters won't even play F12 at all.
The vast majority will happily run their long awaited character through the overworld, where hilichurls and treasure hunter explode so fast that you can't even see any difference between Varka and Mavuika.
Personally I probably will get Varka at some point down the re-run line (because I have only Xiao and now hexerei Venti and need another anemo main DPS for theater) anyway.
On a "meta level" I am glad that not every new character has to be like "power of previous character +5%" because Genshin has gotten way too much power creep since late Fontaine.
If the next 10 DPS released would all be on Varka level, I would be much happier and consider is so much more healthy for the game.
Once they make a ceiling they have to match the ceiling and not below, it is Hoyo own fault for creating the expectation. Even Varka doesn't even get anywhere close to the current ceiling. His bis team is even lower than Columbinaless Nefer, Flins, Mavuika and Skirk. At this point even C6 Razor with his sig is stronger, so what is his point? He is a pure dps, doesn't even have team buffing or debuffing. There is no point to make him this weak.
The next 10 dps would go into Shneznaya and realistically the ceiling will increase again. In the end what will happen is that powercreep will happens again, and Varka end up remaining the weak one.
Then again why you even care? Even your wanting to get Varka is also a 'probably' which means you don't even care much and can just easily skip if he is bad, because trust me, Hoyo will make much better characters down the line anyway.
No, they could treat the one ceiling breaker as a misstake and leave it as an outlier while continuing to release normal characters.
They won't do this because of $$$, but it would always be an option

Because the inevitable power creep at least gets slowed for a short time with each 80k DPS that realeases instead of the next 100k+
100k+ arent the outlier these days with few teams surpassed there already. Even back then with Skirk it is 130k+, Ineffa Flins 120k+, putting Varka at 80-90k+ won't pull back on then next one. There is no excuse at his current power. It might fly 2 years ago, but not now. Making Varka to be this bad make him become the outlier.
No, the powercreep won't be pulled back that far below. Hoyo learn well from HSR meta so that is how it is going to be. For such an anticipated character it is just a disservice to his character. Not like Hoyo already did that in the main quest. At this point people who defend this are just Hoyo bootlicker or they don't care about him and know they won't pull for Varka.
I don't care about him. I don't care about any character anymore, there's just too many of them.
They all just became faceless, nameless tools to solve specific problems (aka theater)

I don't give a *h* about which character plugs each hole, as long as the gap gets closed.
I planned on Varka before ever seeing him and nothing Hoyo could have done model/personaliy wise would have bothered me the slighest. All that mattered was me only having a single anemo DPS and needing an second (and preferably a third).
Then came the hexerei stuff and Venti became a DPS. Now I have two anemo DPS and the need ist less pressing (still would like a third, anyone would do for me, but it's now down to secondaty priority).
I didn't know anything about Zibai, I still don't really know anything about Zibai and neither do I care. But she's a geo DPS, I have two anemo DPS and 0 geo DPS so she takes priority.
Even if Varka had 120 DPS and Zibai had 70k DPS, she would still take priority due to patching one of my largest capability gaps.
I won't listen to her voicelines, I won't read her stories and will hurry through her story quest as quick as torturing my left mouse button to skip will allow (all I want will be the 6 boss drops saving me two kills to ascend her)
Now power creep matter in so far as it's a ticking clock on areas that are currently of no concern. Just about enough electro only as long as Raiden's still a strong enough DPS.
If she gets aged out by power creep, I suddenly have a hole opened in previously electro while I am still trying to plug geo/dendro

It is June 2021. Kazuha is being called a ‘5 star sucrose sidegrade’ and considered a bad pull.
It is September of 2021. Raiden is accused of being bad because she does not work with beidou.
It is January 2023. Alhaitham is nerfed, and declared dead in the water.
It is April 2024. Arlecchino is declared bad because of non synergy with furina.
It is June 2025. Skirk is bad because she requires an all cryo/hydro team.
I am tired.

Skirk was extremely restrictive for the level of dps she had, and was shadow buffed after beta, which somewhat fixed opinion of her but ultimately she's still a mid value pull. For comparison Varka is twice as restrictive and deals like half the damage.
No one declared Arlecchino bad, especially not because of Furina.
Alhaitham was doomposted as "not as good as previous beta version" there's a difference, Varka IS dead in the water. Imagine if Alhaitham released as a Hu Tao mono pyro level dps with a 4 cost team.
Raiden was indeed doomed, but was never called bad, and also this whole argument has to be looked through the lenses of the character roster in that period. Ultimately her kit had little value for her team, and electro as a whole and ended up falling off hard as predicted.
Kazuha was and is a Sucrose sidegrade and for better or worse he's currently a downgrade in a lot of teams and a bad pull, so all of those things were true but we didn't know if it would affect him favorably in the future.
As for Ganyu she was also shadow buffed with her ult duration and cost, but the community was pretty small back then, everyone was new, no reliable TCs, it was a mess and people just compared MVs without any other consideration.
kazuha was the most over hyped character in the game possibly ever. he was (and is) quite literally a sucrose side grade
people said raiden was bad because we only had level 6 talents to go off of when she came out, and it was in fact quite underwhelming. her not working with beidou was massively disappointing (I agree with you here though)

i don't think people were upset abt not working w furina tho? they were happy that at least 1 character doesn't need her at the time, and was she even doomposted? i forgor it was such a chaotic beta.
im pretty sure it wasn't skirk was restricted to hydro/cryo it was she needs esco, which is true!
and DPS wise it was generally accepted that she was top3 min varesa lvl until the got a 20% atk spd buff last minute which put her comfortably as 2nd best DPS at the time behind mavuika, which was also true.
A new shiny brand new 5star released in a new region which has increased the floor of premium c0 5star teams to 120k?

The reality is that every time a 5-star character enters beta and we look at numbers on paper, there is a ton of nuance and unknowns that needs to be accounted for. One such nuance is that CC generally will show you the dps FLOOR of a character...and right now Varka's floor is 99k. No one who is playing Varka remotely seriously is gonna to only deal 99k DPS because we are not going to use KQM standard artifacts, sup-optimal weapons, etc. Varka specifically even has MORE nuance because he is a combo focused character. This is why the TCers are not as worried about Varka anymore. But know, it's always "This time it's different!" with you people. Read the definition of insanity.
And I haven't even touched on the fact that you clowns can't decide if you want powercreep or not. If Varka sheeted to do more damage than another DPS of the same element. It's powercreep nonsense. But if he does less, it's doomposting. Not even goomba fallacy either. It's the same clowns.
This has been going on for years and it's embarrassing you clowns STILL haven't figured it out yet. How many times are you all going to do this? And the worst part is when Varka releases and he turns out to be good, you people will pretend there was no doomposting at all.

I like his design and weapon so I will pull for him and since I skipped most of the Nod Krai and not Durin it’s def my better choice.

Also worth considering that Childe praised Varka’s strength and wished he’d fight him one day. He’s said the almost the same thing about the captain
I'm more excited for the opportunity to finally save some Primos, these couple patches took everything out of me.

I'm not a fan of the archetype of the maverick leader who constantly exasperates their poor, beleaguered, by-the-book second-in-command, saddles said second with all the "boring" work, relies on hunches and gut feelings, goes off and does their own thing, and by way of skill, charisma, and good fortune manages to succeed and do the right thing anyway.
Varka delivers exactly that archetype, in spades. Definitely not on my wishlist.
