My thoughts on an unrealistic possible: Save Sandrone Quest!
This is unrealistic, but what if we had to go against the nation of Fontaine to recover Sandrone's body and repair it? It could all start with Arlecchino receiving the news that it was decided by Fontaine's court (Neuvillette) that Sandrone's body is going to be pulverized or destroyed in some way. (Also, Freminet has learned from reading Sandrone's work how to repair Sandrone).
Arlecchino would tell the traveler this, and we would head to Fontaine to negotiate with Neuvillette, and for the first time, we are denied by one of our "friends." Remember, we want to save Sandrone, because she saved our lives by jumping in front of the dagger the Dottore threw.
Arlecchino starts to put a plan together and calls our Nod-Krai friends for help. Meanwhile, our Fontaine friends would be trying to convince us that Sandrone is evil and stuff because she is Fatui, whatever. The two final convincing factors that convince the traveler to go against Fontaine are Furina and Varka, because Varka just seems like that kind of dude, and Furina needs more screen time.
Then it begins, and we end up in a boss fight against Neuvillette. It becomes the classic, we are beaten up at first. and then our heroes, Arlecchino and Columbina, come to the rescue. Then we invade the prison where Sandrone's body is being kept with the trio of Knave's kids. We recover the body, and Freminet and Aino fix Sandrone up.
Welp, this was my idea! Any thoughts? Ideas? Your own stories you would want?

This seems like the kind of thing that would be a secret operation rather than a declaration of war.
Also I don’t see any real reason for Neuvillette to say “no I won’t let you”
1.- Why would Neuvi decide to dispose of a corpse that way? Seems needlessly cruel and out of character, even if it's because of crimes committed by Sandrone, why punish someone who is already dead?
2.- Why would Arlecchino go to Traveler for help with this? She's still a high ranking Fatui diplomat and this would be a Fatui matter since it's about a deceased high ranking Fatui member.
3.- Why would Neuvillette deny Traveler? After Fontaine he seems them as a respectable level headed third party. He would grant them opportunity for a meaningful and serious discussion, he would need a pretty good reason to still go with this crazy decision.
4.- Why would Arlecchino and Traveler bring Nod Krai friends into this? Once again this is a Fatui matter, no need to bring in Third parties, not to mention there's enough friends in Fontaine to deal with this.
5.- Why would our Fontainian friends try to convince us that Sandrone is evil because she's Fatui? Navia didn't hesitate to defend Lyney, Lynette, and Childe, then got good help from Arlecchino and the House of the Hearth with Poisson's flooding. Clorinde and Furina have no issues with playing DnD with Lyney there. Even Chiori has no qualms dressing up the children of the House of the Hearth. The only one with a personal bad experience with the Fatui is Furina and that's specifically with Arlecchino.
6.- Why would we even fight Neuvillette!? Even on this crazy and out of character scenario Neuvillette seeing Traveler this serious about recovering Sandrone's body would make him reconsider.
I'm not trying to be mean, but everyone here is so out of character you need an entire AU for this to happen
I think it will simply be: Sandrome had her remains sent to Fontaine because she already has a backup body there and it will either be, she comes back without fanfare, or the Traveler is somehow needed to complete the transfer.
It's strange to see Fountanians as luddites and evil, especially such kind persons as Navia or Furina.
And Neuvillette definitely not this guy. He was deeply saddened by the death of Alain. If he had been quicker, he probably would have persuaded Sandrone to stay in Fontaine and she would definitely have been a good ally and friend.
