AR leveling is not adequate for character progression
I started to play the game around week and a half ago. My team is:
\- Jean c0 70 lvl
\- Xiangling c0 60 lvl
\- Xingqiu c0 60 lvl
\- Sucrose c1 60 lvl
Each character has 60 lvl weapon, 4 lvl talents (skill and burst) and 4 maxed artifacts (except flower).
It was going great until AR 35, i was able to kill stuff comfortably when world level was 3. The problem started when i hit AR 35 and world level 4, because bosses are now level 63 and they hit pretty hard, also battles take long time. Since i got AR 35 and world level 4 i already leveled 2 ARs - now AR 37, almost 38. In the same time it took me all my resin to farm enough blue crystals to craft purple ones to ascend Jean to reach level 70. For some reason purple crystals arent dropping from bosses only blue ones. Which means i have no resin, no mats to ascend any weapon or any other character, no mats to level talents further. I have to pretty much wait a lot of time for resin to replenish so i can do 4 fights with boss to level one more character to level 70 but by the time i will do that i will hit AR 40 and world level increases again. I see Jean now requires 6 purple crystals, that is insane amount of boss runs, and i already struggle. Something clearly doesnt work in this game, instead of fun it gives me anxiety. I read that you can lower world level by one. Ok so lets say i will lower world level from 5 back to 4 when i hit AR 40 to buy time to catch up on upgrades. That would be nice if it wasnt for the fact that i also read that leveling AR doesnt pause. Which means as i catch up to world level 4 game keeps leveling, so by the time i finish catching up to world level 4 and ascend i will jump to world level 7? since normally i would be at 5 and i got 2 more meantime. I dont understand this, how it is suppose to work. Is there a way to solve this problem that i dont know of? Any suggestions are welcomed!

the general problem is either not having your core team leveld up or not having a synergistic team (but OP's team looks pretty good synergy wise)
what normally happens is players spread their resources thin and get caught up trying to level everone at the same time, causing them to lack some amount of suitability to survive the difficulty curve
the team has a healer that can dish out some amount of DPS and the ability to swirl for vape, it's good enough for the overworld, they could always make a better team but it's not terrible compared to others I've seen people make when they are struggling at this point
So since you're at AR 37, your next ascension will come at AR 40 when you will automatically go up a level. Your next ascension after that will be at AR 45 but you will have to do an ascension quest to go to the next world level. So you can remain at the same WL for a long time, if you felt so inclined. The next WL will come at AR 50 and, again...you will have to do an ascension quest to get it so you won't be forcibly jumped 2 levels at one time.
Basically, the mid 30s for AR are kind of the doldrums for account progression. You're trying to level your characters, their talents, their weapons, etc...but you're constantly out of mora because you're doing that but you can't get more using leylines because you're constantly out of resin from trying to level your characters and it feels a bit like a torturous grind.
So here's my advice:
1. Things even out and you'll get through it.
2. Temper your expectations. Maybe only work on one character at a time. Don't expect to sprint through this phase.
3. Make sure you understand how to play your characters/teams more effectively using what you have. Many characters can handle enemies with greater levels than them more easily than you might think in the right situations.
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help with bosses. Plenty of bored high level players are out there just waiting for an opportunity to show off their built characters. :)
The fundamental problem that you're encountering is that there's so much content by now that leveling your AR takes pretty much no time at all. Not that it ever took that long in the beginning anyway, the required experience for that is pretty low before AR50. But the amount of content means you can just keep playing, while back then you had to get by on Mondstadt and Liyue exploration, events and the daily grind. Either take some time, do some exploration for a while and focus on building your characters one at a time. Or get used to the difficulty level.
But personally, I'd rather take it slow and easy than go up farther than I'm comfortable with and spend my time banging my head against fights I'm not really ready for in frustration.
You don't understand because you're trying to rush it and new. you'll get 5 star artifacts at 45, set bonuses, the works. You'll get skilled enough to do bosses without worry. Focus on your DPS so you can kill faster instead of spreading it to everyone and you'll be fine, or focus on reactions while having lots of EM. Improve 1 day at a time.
The only thing you can really do is learn the in and outs of combat and how to beat bosses. Or CO-OP. How you use your team and how you build them changes everything immensely.
Or, it's working exactly as intended. It's just that the intention isn't for you to have maximum fun, the intention is to make Mihoyo money.
F2P games are monetized via "create a problem, sell the solution".
They have to be fun enough that you don't just quit outright, sure, but at the same time, they can't let you have *too* much fun, or you won't have any problems you'd want to buy a solution to.
People have been complaining about the mid AR difficulty spike since 1.0, and Mihoyo has made adjustments... but the spike is still there. Ergo, it's probably serving some purpose.
It *might* be there to encourage you to buy newer, more OP characters that would make things easier... but the other thing they might be trying to make you do is exactly what you've done here: Search out online communities to get help - online communities do lots of things F2P devs like.
If you make friends, that helps with player retention, you get advice telling you to pull X character because they make things easier, and you get exposed to people posting about how they got such a good gacha roll, which pushes on some mental shortcut buttons to make you think you'll also get lucky... if you pull. And guess what Mihoyo's selling?
Also, refer to the half of my comment that you've been ignoring.
I remember how just having Keqing and Diluc made clearing camps so much quicker. Imagine if that was someone actually good.
Maybe you don't remember early game, what with acting like maybe 30 seconds isn't a lot.
A lot of the combat time trials only give you a minute or two total. just being 30 seconds faster easily makes the difference between clearing and failing those.
It can easily be the difference between clearing an early abyss floor or failing.
> if the best they can give them is an unsynergystic weapon
Dude, this is still open world. No one at AR37 is trying to optimize teams for SO Dire.
Stop pretending like it's not good enough to just give characters 2pc/2pc main stat sets. And, let's not forget that there are a decent number of characters for which their best F2P weapon is a blue chest drop.
I'm done, this is just going in circles.
Go run 2pc gladiators/2pc sojourners and get 36% attack? Nah. It's impossible for new players to do that. For some reason.
Like, what do you think new players are? Illiterate children who can't figure out how to use 2 of the same basic set to get a damage bonus?
Shit, for some of the meta supports like Nahida, you could probably just run 4pc instructors and do fine for a long time.
Or hey, if you get Arlecchino, you'll get plenty of Gladiators pieces just from killing world bosses for ascension mats, and her *best* F2P weapon is White Tassel.
Are you sure you actually play this game?
