Why is my Jean so highly rated?

I cannot understand how this character i built 6 months ago as an extremely new player is so high up on the leaderboard (with top 4% being seen as high)

Does that site automatically extract the data from all existing players or is it something that people have to opt in for?

If the latter then it could be that there's a lot of missing data from Jean enthusiasts.

It’s an opt in for sure. I think only Hoyo can scrape all player data

I think it's a bit of both. You have to have the characters in your profile display and actively search for your ID. The site then fetches the rest.

You can easily reach top 5% with a build thats stat padding and be worse than a top 10% build with actual artifacts and a weapon that synergizes well. ladder rank doesn't really mean much besides the raw stats coming from your artifacts and weapons. Also, the more people that dont have a built character but still submitted a build, the higher your ranking will be, and most Jeans probably aren't even built or are probably VV EM support bots. I have multiple top 2% characters but they certainly aren't doing top tier damage worthy of bragging.

Because there's a shitload of people who have Jean but not a lot of people who build her.

There are different leaderboards for different categories, those that add jean prob have 4pvv in e+q category so won't rate high in sunfire as no em
