Not only do I remember it, that's still my Namecard. Getting it was a point of pride.
Rex_Lapis_2026-01-27 02:27
Hell yea me too
Ubermus_Prime2026-01-27 02:43
Strangely, I can't find mine. I guess I never actually reached it.
RubApprehensive25122026-01-27 06:43
Same here. I never finished the event.
2017201820192026-01-27 08:00
It was quite difficult. I remember having to coop with friends and teach them how to do the geo hypostasis disconnect exploit
Ubermus_Prime2026-01-27 10:52
Yeah. My team sucked back then. But I dare say having an event centered around defeating bosses within a time limit when the bosses in question spend most of the time completely invulnerable was just a dumb idea.
KuraiBaka2026-01-27 13:21
It really was I used dilic on the one where he got a dog bonus and could only clear like 25% of its health on anything higher than normal difficulty, without any modifiers.
True-Defective2026-01-27 13:17
I can't find mine either, I think I didn't finish the event. But I do remember doing it, wasn't the fight inside the abyss domain?
Ubermus_Prime2026-01-27 13:39
I don't think so. I think it was a different domain. Although I could be misremembering.
True-Defective2026-01-27 15:01
Is it this one? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0owo3BBjWbQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0owo3BBjWbQ)
It resembled the abyss floor, but it was actually different domain. My memory is failing me.
Darkfirestar132026-01-27 04:50
Had to check.
Yep. I got one, too.
kazez22026-01-27 05:32
Yup. Razor+Ningguang carried me throughout the event
telegetoutmyway2026-01-27 05:52
Its a cool name card too. I cant believe it never came back. The hypostasis bosses were so cool in 1.x era
Dracorvo2026-01-27 06:49
My account wasn't built enough to get the namecard sadly. I've got the Theatre Mechanicus one though.
Ambitious_Jello2026-01-27 08:53
Bruh I had no idea what these bosses even did. I realised fairly late that I could even build my character
Illumi2232026-01-27 07:27
Oh hey me too. I really like the look of it, simple but effective.
PH_0072026-01-27 13:44
This and the Little One (who might not be our Little One as I'm told) namecards are one of the few I really even care about, the rest are purely cosmetic. These meant something.
I kinda miss the old customizable difficulty combat events, Stygian is just not it.
d-the-luc2026-01-27 02:19
we need a throwback to this. a Hyposelenic Symphony
__mymelody2026-01-27 02:30
Yes it was right when I joined the game and I found it very frustrating with my shitty team lol
Ubermus_Prime2026-01-27 02:35
Yes I do.
LordDhaDha2026-01-27 02:37
The things I had to do for that namecard…
nerd_reader_51592026-01-27 02:56
Lv80 6 6 6 keqjng getting run down by a cube is super fun. No pun intended
z0kuuu2026-01-27 02:57
ah yes, the event that tested your early game skills or your ability to have friends carry you lmao i wish they still did events like this that had co-oping with people count towards your points (last one was legend of vagabond iirc, the natlan one doesn't count higher levels co-op points so it was moot to clear the levels with another person)
PH_0072026-01-27 13:47
I miss having coop combat events like these. The rewards for the whale difficulties are already nonexistant or barely notable, idk why they can't just let us tackle them with friends, it's a lot more fun than just taking it on alone.
SonicBoom5002026-01-27 03:17
Yeah, I think so, definitely had trouble with the harder stages
ZecrS2026-01-27 03:18
I still remembered when I found out I could use food in the challenge...
Myriad102026-01-27 03:25
The OG Stygian Onslaught. But it's kinda cool that on higher difficulty the enemies have new skills not just HP inflation
Evening_Parking26102026-01-27 03:45
No wonder they had attacks i didnt recognize
TiltingSoda31262026-01-27 05:03
I mean I hate Stygian as much as the next person, but Tbf Stygian has some of that. Different attack patterns and mechanics, e.g. the fire crab this Stygian has summons that work similar to the crab tsar’s at higher difficulties
Liteseid2026-01-27 05:46
Well that’s kinda the issue of Stygian’s bad game design. It is whale-bait, not skill-bait. Every unique mechanic is tailored to recent unit releases, not memorizing attack patterns and good dodging. Sure, high CV accounts can clear fearless with mid-investment and good skill, but most people would agree that good skill should matter in at least one end-game mode
SwiftSlayAR2026-01-27 06:59
some “skill-bait” techniques off the top of my head
* Nefer dash cancels
* Jean cheese (all patches)
* Mavuika infinite stagger shock trooper
* Mavuika combos
* Arlecchino infinite stagger shock trooper
* Skirk burst routing
* Flins energy/burst routing
* proper rotations in general
if you understand these, you can even clear dire at C0R0 so stop saying skill doesn’t matter lmao
Liteseid2026-01-27 07:18
[deleted]
SwiftSlayAR2026-01-27 07:22
the only exploit is the Jean cheese lmao what
also the current abyssal dog will one shot you if you don’t break it’s shield, and you also have to dodge it’s attacks or time i-frames since 2 attacks will kill you
shock trooper also kills your party if you don’t break his shield, so not allowing it to shield is a perfectly valid strategy
KaldorDraigo142026-01-27 17:05
Of the current enemies two of them do have skill-bait, Fatui soldier can be cheesed with Jean+Zhongli strat or with Mavuika staggers, both are extremely hard to be accomplished but they can de done. There is a Mavuika C0R0 Dire Clear on the Fatui Soldier by basically never letting him shield up.
As for the Crab, there is a C0R0 Childe+Sucrose+Fischl+Xingqiu clear on Youtube of the Fearless diff. Childe was on Fav bow with like 77CD Noblesse.
The dog is cringe though, it's a massive HP sponge even with the shill teams.
augsilhu952026-01-27 05:54
Back when the game was good (so sad I didn't play back then)
AlterWanabee2026-01-27 03:28
They should have used the system in this event for Stygian. Instead of having 5 difficultied, let the player set up the options. An option to increase the HP of the enemy, its other stats, an option to add timers, and maybe options for additional mechanics. The options will add a multiplier for the final score, and this is where the rewards will be based.
For example, the Hard Mode can instead be put at 10k points, Menacing at 15k, Fearless at 20k, and Dire at 25k points. This allows players to optimize different teams depending on what they have.
Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo2026-01-27 03:56
This is probably a "but I don't wanto cure cancer, Spider-Man" moment. Onslaught isn't meant to be fun, challenging, and rewarding; it's meant to be those things while primarily pressuring players to pull for whichever characters are on the banners.
If they wanted to allow for players to optimize their own teams, we probably would be seeing more unique mechanics that aren't widely antagonistic to old, off-banner characters.
Maleficent_River24142026-01-27 09:09
Or the fact that majority of the playerbase just used basic easy/normal/hard srttings
EngelAguilar2026-01-27 20:16
How? You say "to pull characters" but the primogems are in difficulty 3 with some wesk ahh enemies
kraaashed2026-01-27 05:12
In an ideal world yes but we know it's just there to sell characters
icee_x2026-01-27 03:33
I remember there was like a bug where you toggle airplane mode on geo hypostasis making it not summon the pillars
People used them too to recover their bursts
icee_x2026-01-27 03:43
https://youtu.be/en4v2721jck?si=579Pa2hXbw5VCh5c
lol i still have the video. I wouldnt be able to clear it on time without the bug. I was so noob XD
KailaniNeveah2026-01-27 03:38
I remember it. Unfortunately none of my friends at the time played so I had no help to get the namecard. It’s remaining locked taunts me still.
rathosalpha2026-01-27 03:40
No
KiyanXD2026-01-27 03:42
That event is one of my fondest memories of playing GI, back then you can coop it so my friends and I were suffering to clear it ahahahaa
Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo2026-01-27 03:49
Ah yes, the Dark Souls Cubes, they called them. They came early enough that there wasn't a community wide meta established.
I'll have to check my namecards, but I don't think I managed to clear it fully. My best DPS at the time was Razor. Yes, a Phys Razor build.
PhasmicPlays2026-01-27 03:50
I cleared it with the bug for the geo one. Fun times
Zarclaust2026-01-27 04:05
Made me realize how shitty my chars were, my Diluc suffered and I had to get my friends on VC to actually tackle this shit
PedroLippi2026-01-27 05:59
A quest in Inazuma still has the Electro Hypostasis from this event.
chevroletbarbie2026-01-27 06:04
yes. i never got the namecard 😭
hansQQ2026-01-27 06:10
I started playing when this event was going on, but could clear only a small portion of it.
exwhyzie2026-01-27 06:10
Yeah back when I only have keqing as main dps
floricel_1122026-01-27 06:43
Yes, I do remember hell
HallyMiao2026-01-27 06:52
It was really hard on solo; probably comparable to dire, but high chance you didn't have enough time to have well built teams for all the cubes.
It was fairly easy to get the card if you had friends to coop with (as long as everyone knows how to dodge). You'll die in 1 hit on 4p coop, but enemy hp to chew through per player was really low.
Kksin-1910832026-01-27 07:54
I just remember Diluc was a king of that event.
Zogo122026-01-27 07:58
I was ar 40 and got no diffed 🥀💔
ImaginationNo80082026-01-27 08:08
Yes, 95% sure I got the card too
Artistic_Cable62182026-01-27 08:30
One of the best event)
Nyancromancer2026-01-27 08:30
It was the first event I completed solo, I even have the namecard in my namecard display
Rafellz2026-01-27 08:55
I remember the Geo one specifically reused Osial's theme during the fight. It made the fight cooler than it should.
Zonnebloempje2026-01-27 09:03
Nope. Wasn't around then.
srakusho2026-01-27 09:34
Got my ass clap by that Electro cube
rseth9122026-01-27 09:43
I sometimes use the namecard this event gave to remind myself how ancient I am
AksysCore2026-01-27 09:55
Back when my poor account only had Diluc as the strongest character... 🥲
Accurate_Result54272026-01-27 10:00
Dang, we old guys...
The nostalgia is making my back hurt 😂😂 😂 😂 😂
GuideBusy31022026-01-27 11:48
Should be a breeze if we do it today if they don't change anything from back then
luciluci55622026-01-27 11:52
I remember this event being hated because it's just a DPS check with short damage windows.
The hypostasis bosses have very long invuln windows so you spend most of the time waiting for it to do its mechanic.
Now, I read the comments and noticed that a lot of people here liked it instead.
KuraiBaka2026-01-27 13:20
Yeah it can rest in piss
cartercr2026-01-27 13:39
It was really cool having a difficult endgame mode where you could just shut off the timer and focus on survival and fighting. My builds were pretty shit back then, but I made up for that by using skill.
Isn’t it funny how an actual skill-based combat event brings back pleasant memories while the current character check endgames just bring frustration? Hoyo could learn a thing or two from this.
Ke5_Jun2026-01-27 14:52
Tbh I only vaguely remember this. I have the namecard which means I did finish it, but otherwise I only remember because they had special movesets (and eventually the electro one made a cameo in an Inazuma world quest). I don’t actually remember what teams I used to beat it, but most likely Zhongli and Ganyu are involved considering how early on that event was.
RndPersonHaha2026-01-27 19:23
Yes, I grabbed the primogems then went back to exploring, never bother playing any stage second time because why?
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-27 19:44
Yeah, what spiral abyss should've been.
rrrwayne2026-01-27 22:40
I don't remember which iteration of the event is from, but I have a memorable gameplay clip:
