Anyone disappointed on how Varka was treated in AQ and in his Kit.

Time again we have theory Male characters dont sell, yet when it comes AQ they are rarely get shone. Release them at unusual patches which offers no content or primos for players. No dedicated support. Poor performance during beta.

I am very much disappointed on how they hyped him to bring him down. the male character treatment in lore is getting worst ever since natlan.

Sumeru is the only nation where every character I felt was treated right, none of the characters overshadowed each other. Even fontaine also did a good job regarding this.

but since natlan, the AQ although is good, it feels so lacking when it comes to male characters.

Also Varka situation is so worst. He is getting treated worse than Capitano, atleast capitano laid rest in dignity qnd5 theres still hope for revival. But Varka unless they actual make him center point along with nicole in upcoming AQs, you can all take him as example how future males can get treated.

I don't care about aura farming. Like how he contributed AQ in significant way, is what I felt missing honestly. It is always behind the scenes. I just like if every character is balanced in story and don't get glazed too much than necessary. At that point it seems like marketing rather than telling a good story.

In fact, he is completely irrelevant to the story. You could remove him entirely and literally nothing would change. He’s there basically just parading his 3D model, cracking one joke or another, with a very shallow personality. And that great hero who was supposedly going to fight Capitano in Natlan, who would be leading the cavalry of Mondstadt—horses and all—well, there isn’t the slightest trace of that. The game not having shown a single horse is symptomatic of how poorly planned his appearance in the story really was.

Exactly jokes and his personality is good but it should been more than that. Its like they didn't really know what to do with him. He took almost all of army with him, but what is he doing exactly. Trailer shows he came for moon but nothing happened.

Hoyo really doesn't know how to write male characters since natlan. Only dottore is breathing fresh air for me.

(I say Chiori due to the annual after CNY patch where the limited 5 star gets the short end of the stick compared to others.)

This isn't a male character exclusive, its the annual "patch after Lantern rite/ Hoyo vacation week" that happens where some character gets the short end of the stick. I notice how you didnt mention Yae Miko or Mizuki.

This just feels like another "Natlan bad" post that neglects previous obvious patterns

Don't forget about Dori too, it takes until Nodkrai for people to finally give Dori chance. Kaveh also regularly treated as the butt of the joke even until now.

Fontaine also have Emilie with grand total of 0 event appearance.

Chiori is not a planned character. She is same like emelie, escoff. Seigwinne did decent for me in plot. She is not a main character, so for a support role she did good during our time in meropad (i forgot the name). Varka is different, he is leader of Monsdadt, he is four winds, and we got a huge major plotholes that need to be addressed and yet it wasn't.

As for chinese new year festival, if devs knew they can't make it good, they should have post poned his release. You don't gloat a character for 5 years and then release such kit and say 'i am sorry it was new years".

I agree with yae miko, but mizuki and Varka are not same level in main lore. Yae miko could be. Varka is one such character you don't fumble with his kit. Imagine dain getting released with mediocre kit or dottore or capitano. There are certain characters whose kit should be great.

Yes ofc every character is planned. That is not what I meant. i mean a year planning is different from a character that is been planned for 5 years. It is not same. Shades is not getting released from a year now, but that doesn't mean you will put shades in same level as chiori right. I am talking about characters who are relevant to main AQ lore. Characters like columbina, dain, fatui, archons, phanes, traveller, all of them are significantly more important than characters like chiori, emelie, escoff, wrio. Of course every character is planned I am saying some are way more planned ahead and important to lore than others. And Varka is one such character and hoyo fumbled his kit as for lore I will wait since we have 3 more patches left. And see if he will more than this or not.

I am not trying to put down other characters I am just stating a fact here.

I like that Leader character actually act like leader for once, Varka being the voice of reason, the one who stay calm on every situation, steer the conversation back into track, instead of being just dumb muscle guy people expect.

They did right by Flins. He's very well received by the community.

And they had to fumble on one of the most anticipated unit, praised heavily by almost every other character.

There's still time for changes and we are still coping he receives reasonable buffs.

He has to do 150k dps on venti and durin alone unfortunately. It is 3 cost team and it is reasonable to ask for 150k. We aren't asking Varka to surpass jist make him good like nodkrai dps. Rumours about nicole is unconfirmed also if its true, we have to wait two patches. But that time sheznaya and new dps are just around corner.

Others are raging that it's just another doompost. But are the numbers lying? I think the crashout this time is valid. He is too big to fail and yet, looks like he is going to.

If they feel like it, they can have him deal a little bit less than Flins or Nefer. I think it's not too much to ask.

Imo he should already be doing 150k during release. If we don't speak now when shoudk we speak after release when it is too late to fix??.

Nicole should be great flexible general support a more upgraded comfortable unit to use but shouldn't break meta. since she is going to be at 6.6 and 7.0 would be great time to release Alice as many are disappointed alice not being playable yet after teasing her in trailer.. That way Varka havers get treated right, nicole havers will also be satisfied. Alice waiters also happy they are getting her soon.

Also varka should been released in 6.5 along with lohan and dorman port. And continuing that , nicole release would also would work perfectly. This should have been the right way to treat characters and right way to market them.

I think the AQ was really good, but one major issue is that I wished we see Varka fight the main villains. That was a really big missed opportunity. other than that, I feel like every other character was treated good.

Or if he was added he should have been sent before a military tribunal. He has wasted Mondstadt's soldiers, horses and resources for years for no justifiable reason.

Justifiable reason will happen only if writers decide to write for him. That's the point of whole post that they fumbled with his character presentation when it could have been much more than what we got is what i am saying.

As for you not liking varka personally is a different issue and just personal opinion. Everyone has characters they like and don't.

Kit wise, I don’t mind if he’s weak. They’ve released 4 back to back broken characters already (including Zibai) and we need normal, non broken characters every once in a while.
