High ping only in genshin?

The weirdest thing is happening to me right now and I was wondering if it’s happened to anyone else and if these’re any fixes.

I was playing Genshin normally and randomly got hit with the dreaded 999 ping. I thought my WiFi died but I checked the speed, tested a few other games and there’s absolutely no lag? It’s just Genshin.

I was playing for a few hours just grinding and now it’s barely playable.

Any tips? Has this happened to you? I’m super sad :(

I’ve restarted my console and everything, nothing else running in the background either.

My partner and I are based in Asia on American servers.
Happening to just our Genshin for both of us.
Curious if this is just an American server issue or with other region servers as well?

I’m in America servers, it’s the only account I tested atm but yeah. Seems like a few others in America servers are having the same issue

Probably unrelated but… It’s weird bc for the past 9ish hours, TikTok was having issues showing videos from American creators.

try cloudflare warp when gaming (dont let it run all the time, it starts lagging after some hours even if not using internet).

Unfortunately not. While you can set the DNS to Cloudflare, you can't use their WARP VPN which can help with routing (the path it takes from your PS5 to Genshin's servers).

Yeah, this super confused me bc I thought something was wrong with my internet, especially as someone who plays in Asia on the American server, so glad it’s a server issue not something with my internet 🥲

I also faced the same issue on my pc, in morning and late night, ping is fine, but in afternoon, I faced very high pings(500-800). I asked the customer service for this, but they keep telling me to contact your ISP, eventually I gave up. It used to happen a lot more just after the latest update. When I connected a VPN to Japan, pings were better(150-200) than those 600-700 pings. I am facing this issue a lot more after this update. My other games run without any issue so I know my ISP is not the issue here

Happened to me, and it's not only genshin but all of Hoyo's games. HSR 700ms, ZZZ and Genshin 600ms while I'm getting 50ms at Wuwa. Needless to say I couldn't finish anything that week except HSR because HSR is not real time combat. This went on for 1-2 weeks iirc

Seems to be back to normal for me this week, so maybe you just need to wait it out? Send a message to CS to be safe.

Funny enough the ping bar is red on wifi but yellow on mobile data on phone

This randomly happens to me ( asia servers not currently happening ) so I use cloudflare warp and it usually fixes the issue

If anyone is still having this problem, connecting a VPN to ur server location seems to fix the problem. Free ones like proton vpn work

Thank god this is not just me lmao. All I could really do was condense my resin, claim my dailies, and log off.

My first thought was, I'd better go to the Genshin sub because if this is a server-side issue, it'll *DEFINITELY* get talked about in New.

Same case for me Asia server (and I live in Singapore, where one of their Asia datacenters is located). It takes 5-10 relogins for me just to get it back down to 70-80ping

It just went away for me
If you log on and it’s not fixed (which was the case for me) I just say in my menu for a little and scrolled on my phone, after a couple of minutes it fixed

UPDATE: looks like the issue fixed!! I’m back at my usual 98ms.
It wasn’t fixed when I logged on initially but I sat in my menu for a few minutes while scrolling on my phone. After a couple minutes it went to normal.

A measure on your WiFi connection. In Genshin it’s easy to tell good from bad because good ping will be green, medium would be yellow, and bad is red.
You can see it in the top right of the screenshot, it’s red and says 999ms. Thats the worst possible connection you can get in Genshin

Tbh atleast in my experience my ps5 is like the only thing that gets good and stable connection in my room. My room is furthest from my router, my pc, boyfriend’s Xbox, our phones get doo doo water connection. I can’t play games on my pc at all really. My console? Just fine, not even lag
