Hasn't happened yet
notthatjaded2026-01-27 16:39
It hasn't happened. According to what I've seen here, someone from Hoyo said at an event in China that this is future content, whatever that turns out to be.

"Traveller, I hate to tell you this, but I fuked up Irmnsul"
Zek7h35an52026-01-28 03:35
I'm still insanely suspect on that, tbh. In general, so much storywise has changed since then, that saying a statement made multiple years ago is still true is very suspect.
Fragrant-Resource-112026-01-27 16:39
hasn't happened yet but will happen
KrzyDankus2026-01-27 16:43
it will happen according to the head writer of Genshin a year or two back at some university and no one has ever come out to debunk it as misinfo.
EnchantingAngel32026-01-27 16:43
I’m betting this happens during the final Snezhnaya chapter. You don't animate a tree burning that beautifully just for a trailer.
ThisToe96282026-01-27 16:51
If this really happens it's over for teyvat, isn't it? I don't exactly remember what impact this tree has, but its end would be the end of all people of teyvat, isn't it?
GettingWokeUp2026-01-27 16:54
Spoiler here
>!Shneznaya is going to be the last chapter of the first story and Khaenriah presumably will be the first chapter of the second story (the game essentially becomes Genshin 2. I can imagine this is the grand finale of the first story!<
So yeah I would think this would be catastrophic for Teyvat as it removes the fate system in place
ThisToe96282026-01-27 16:56
Don't worry, i already know about it
>! Sinners and dainsleif will become playable with khaenriah becoming new region!<
So i could actually see hoyo using this tree as plot device to move onto new page of the story
GettingWokeUp2026-01-27 17:00
I really find it hard to believe the sinners would be playable but Dain yes. Most of them have caused irreparable damage to their images. I’m fairly certain people who commit genocide cannot be playable under CN’s regulations on heroes in games. This would eliminate Rerir and Surtalogi for certain and could arguably eliminate gold as well. I very seriously doubt they’d have Hpop be playable because it seems implied he’s the most evil of all of them. I don’t even know what Ved did but being Dain’s brother and his whole thing being seeing time I could imagine he’d be playable. 🤷♂️ I guess we will see
ThisToe96282026-01-27 17:01
I mean their playable versions before they became sinners? But probably yeah, sinners would be too much. Also impossible to implement to current gameplay, as they have too op powers
GettingWokeUp2026-01-27 17:02
Maybe if the game eventually got galactic in scaling they’d work. But interesting, you think the whole chapter will be played in the past?
ThisToe96282026-01-27 17:09
If dottore burns irminsul, and hoyo doesn't made up a way to restore it, the only way to prevent this disaster would be traveler going back in time. But maybe due to some accident he could end up a loot farther in the past.
Hoyo could actually make a bold move by erasing all the events we have in these 6-8 years throughout all 7 regions to start second part of the story, where by traveler's intervention, new story will be written. But that's just speculation and i think too dark for gacha game like genshin
GettingWokeUp2026-01-27 17:13
Idk man, that’s an awesome theory 👏 I’d love that personally.
ThisToe96282026-01-27 17:14
I'd love that too, but that could also lead to traveler losing his emergency food
JDBCool2026-01-27 17:15

Chucknasty_172026-01-27 18:04
I’ve seen people speculate that if the abyss twin succeeds in creating new Khaenri’ah, we could get the sinners before they became the sinners as characters there
thwrlsgenshin2026-01-27 17:10
Tanit tribe was wiped out by the traveler.
GettingWokeUp2026-01-27 17:12
It’s a bit different if the group is villainous. I’m talking about innocents.
thwrlsgenshin2026-01-27 17:19
I find hard to believe everyone in the tribe was evil, and even harder to ignore the existence of children and elderly. Writers just conveniently choose to ignore the topic.
GettingWokeUp2026-01-27 17:20
True but we didn’t kill any elderly or kids either, there just… weren’t any 🤷♂️
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-28 01:48
There were no kids and elderly there though

Lakiel032026-01-27 16:58
It represents all the memory and information from Teyvat, can also completely erase your existence from all memory connected to him. Its also connected to all the leyline and pretified tree.
0010282026-01-27 16:58
Yes. Irminsul contains all of Teyvat's data. Essentially, it contains Teyvat's existence and Teyvat would cease to exist without it.
Catch_0222026-01-27 17:42
It finally frees them from Teyvat and being bound into the ley lines as prisoners.
That's my theory.
Maleficent-Feed35662026-01-27 18:15
Exaclty, dottore doesn't want to lobotomize teyvat because of funsies. He will fix the rules
DottoresPet2026-01-27 21:54
Exactly, a very noble goal
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-28 01:47
However, as we see from Natlanese people exiting Natlan before the repairs, they would literally lose their memories and cease to be the people they were before.
Zek7h35an52026-01-28 03:38
Yknow how Mavuika didn't want to use the Pyro Gnosis to burn the Abyss out of the Night Kingdom, because if she did everyone in Natlan would lose their memories, because she literally burned them all?
Now, tell me, what do you think would happen if someone burned the literal "Memory Tree that houses everyone's memories?"
PvZGaming12026-01-28 16:52
I believe the gnosis plan was only to use the dead souls to weave nets to contain the abyss, the memory losing plan was capitano's instead
The gnosis plan was only sacrificing the souls
Awkward-Treacle-64072026-01-27 20:45
As I see it, the Irminsul is an extreme threat to Teyvat, seeing how someone with sufficient know-how can use it to manipulate everyone's memories. (Refer to: the Wanderer.) It might be something like a root access system (heh) that Nibelung built in the distant past. I'm of the opinion that its better off destroyed than allowed to be abused. These days, it seems like nobody besides Nahida even really understands it or can fully access it, so it is running almost without a purpose anyway.
Top-Idea-17862026-01-28 04:06
Irminsul stores all the information in Teyvat, burning it down would literally wipe the memories and history of EVERY SINGLE living being in Teyvat.
Richardknox19962026-01-27 22:28
Lol. Lmao even. Behold, an event from Honkai Impact that never happened.

Your assumption is born of Ignorance. miHoYo can, has and will expend that kindve resources just to gaslight their playerbase.
m2gus2026-01-27 16:48
They said it will happen, but the way I see it it will happen in a "flashback" of The Doctor and Damselette burning a new important tree and HoYo will call it a day.
ThisToe96282026-01-27 16:53
2021 self: Hahaha you are funny, there's no way hoyo would do that
2026: that's exactly what will happen. And that tree will most likely be a fake irminsul, as the real irminsul's place was just changed....
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 18:45
> They said it will happen
They did say it will happen.
ThisToe96282026-01-27 16:51
It will happen in the future. But end of irminsul is basically end of all teyvat's people? Cause it contains all memories of each person. Maybe that way hoyo will move on to another big update(in which we will go back 500 years to khaenriah, have it as new region with dainsleif and sinners playable?)
TheLastTitan772026-01-27 16:53
Happened in WoW
Velyndrel2026-01-27 18:08
"imma burn that tree to the ground and murder everyone in it buhahahah, btw has anyone seen the other half of my soul that's been missing for about 16 years?"
"But why? What do you mean your missing soul?"
"Plot! And more Plot!" Bad plot, but plot.
Hopefully this burning tree has more plot other than "I want shiny boom blood rocks"
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 18:38
It's hoyo. The burning tree most definitely has more plot than "I want shiny boom blood rocks".

The problem with WoW lore is that when they found they had to make shit up to keep the story going, the story turned into dogshit
Shahadem2026-01-27 22:08
This was nonsense when it happened in WoW.
The devs apparently don't understand basic logic. There was too much water in that tree for it to have been burned down the way it did. We are talking about a tree the size of Manhattan. That is a lot of water.
And Sylvanas has no reason for doing it.
This was the devs trying to create drama where none existed.
They then tried to retroactively fix the fact that Sylvanas had no reason for the action by making up nonsensical illogical bs. But it was retrosctive nonsensical illogical bs.
You cannot retroactively fix a plot hole.
Nero_PR2026-01-27 16:55
It is said to be future content.
Prisma_Lane2026-01-27 17:01
Nobody knows. While the head writer has said that it's a "future event", it was from a talk from a year or two ago at a university, so we know nothing about it to actually say it will or won't happen. Talk is only PR. It's literally just the same as them saying "both MCs are canon" but proceed to only use Aether, or "Genshin doesn't have a target sale" because what else are they supposed to say? That they have, and will charge their customers more?
Writing can secretly change behind the scenes, and we don't know how far they've actually planned the whole thing because as shocking as it is, most writers don't actually plan every single thing. They usually have point A and point B, and then they try to come up with ways to connect the two. If things change while they're connecting the dots, then they'll change the destination.
Bleach felt very cohesive until they had the Arrancar arc, One Piece is always 5 years away from ending, JJK just simply cut off a side plot and pretend it didn't even exist, Harry Potter never planned for the existence of the Horcrux, etc. Those are just some examples of writing that had to change.
So the answer is no, it hasn't happened yet, and nobody knows if it will or won't happen. Only Hoyo knows that. If the head writer sticks to the ideas that he shared, then it will happen later. If not, then it simply won't happen and they'll just wave it off as some uni talk and not an official thing.
Stealthless2026-01-27 17:02
Need this to happen and be permanent, if not, partially stay.
0010282026-01-27 17:02
If it's confirmed by the devs that this has yet to happen, is that proof that Dottore is still alive?
BlackViper_2026-01-27 17:07
He’s alive, he has another segments of himself, the one in nod krai is most likely his omega clone.
0010282026-01-27 17:11
I'm aware. It's just that the quest treated him as if he were gone for good.
EDIT: Wait, but he erased his segments at the end of the Sumeru storyline in exchange for the gnosis. He shouldn't have any segments left.
BlackViper_2026-01-27 17:16
Only that segment of dottore is gone not original dottore
BlackViper_2026-01-27 17:24
He probably made a new one after, if im not mistaken the segment of him present in nod krai is mega clone of him.
notthatjaded2026-01-27 18:01
He told Nahida when he destroyed his other segments that nothing was stopping him from making more. It's been years, he's had enough time to make at least one more.
0010282026-01-27 18:13
Fair point, I forgot he explicitly said that. It's a little strange that it wasn't acknowledged in the archon quest that he likely still has segments left.
notthatjaded2026-01-27 18:15
He did say that while Traveler and Paimon were knocked out. Did Nahida explicitly tell them about exactly how their encounter went?
Though even if she didn't, Wanderer would have to know he's got segments so it's weird he didn't say anything. Especially at the end when he mentions still feeling like he has a chip on his shoulder. (Columbina knows about the segments, obvs. So it's extra weird she didn't say anything.)
0010282026-01-27 18:27
I had this exact same thought process lol. Even if Traveler didn't know (but they probably did because I doubt Nahida would have left out such a crucial piece of information), then at least Wanderer or Columbina should have said something.
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 18:43
He could have created more segments afterwards - and likely used one to fool the other harbingers into believing he went back to snotrussia. And the original Dottore is also still around, who isn't a segment and therefore wasn't in the scope of Nahida's demand.
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 18:42
It's also possible that Omega Dottore didn't die but teleported out right at the last second. We - including the main cast - assume this form of Dottore is dead... but is he?
Cocoatrice2026-01-27 17:09
It will happen in the future. That basically confirms that Dottore is *not dead*. Also fun fact, Dottore *never died*, he just literally vanished. Characters are just dumb and assumed he must be dead and people repeat that. But we *know* he isn't dead, exactly because he is going to burn Irminsul. That's also one of the major reason why Dottore is chad. He aims high. I don't care if people hate him for "hurting" Columbina or Collei. He is morally beyond the scale. He is doing experiment to destroy Teyvat laws. And Irminsul burning is perfect proof of that. Him denying the laws of Teyvat is another. People think he is doing it just for fun or for power, not at all. He is literally freeing people from the usurpers. He is neither good or evil. I wouldn't be surprised if, willingly or not, we would have him as ally and fight Heavenly Principles in the future. I really wouldn't be surprised at all. Because look, all he is doing is disrupting Teyvat's laws. Something we will have to fight in the future anyway. Heavenly Principles is enemy to Traveler, to Archons, to Sovereigns, to Dottore, to Abyss Order, to Abyss, to Moon Goddesses. And who else, other than Dottore, fits to be the one to fight her?
myung_soo2026-01-27 17:09
If Irminsul burned, will people remember Scara again? Or will it affect differently?
Also, the scene in the trailer shows Columbina talking with Dottore, but I supposed they're talking in the past since Columbina still with Fatui. So Dottore somehow predicting his other segment to complete this task in the future?
notthatjaded2026-01-27 17:15
Eh, assuming the burning tree thing is in the future, I would assume that Columbina and Dottore were talking in the past around Sumeru timeframe and the "experiment in blasphemy" was referring to making Scara a god...*or*, that everything he's been doing from then until now and hypothetically up to burning Irminsul is actually all part of the same plan.
0010282026-01-27 17:38
>If Irminsul burned, will people remember Scara again?
If Irminsul burned down, all of Teyvat's information would be erased. The only way people would remember Scara is if the info about his existence were restored to Irminsul. Burning Irminsul destroys info, it doesn't restore.
plasma_soda2026-01-27 21:48
No. Imagine Irminsul as your storage drive. You keep documents, photos, videos & music in there. Those represent the memories. What Scara did was deleting a name in a document. It doesn't erase the document from existence, but it creates gaps in it. Burning the Irminsul is more akin to literally destroying the storage drive. Basically what happened when Scara deleted himself, but on a much, much, much larger scale + most probably other side effects like no new memories can enter the ley lines, souls that die can't be reincarnated, etc.
Regarding the dialogue, I'd take it with a grain of salt at least for now. The trailers/teasers are always baiting. Just a few patches ago, Neuvillette supposedly got stabbed.
Upper-Meat-83292026-01-27 17:19
It's gonna happen just wait, Dottore will be playable too trust ❤️🩹
Charybd1ss2026-01-27 17:29
It has already happened for the game developers. It hasn't happened in the game for the common man
Tschmelz2026-01-27 17:30
Nobody fucking knows and anybody saying otherwise is actually full of shit. Head writer saying it’s a “future event” is not something you can trust at face value, they’re not gonna spoil the plot like that.
Personally, my bet is that Dottore will *think* he’s burning the tree, but Nahida actually has him in a dream.
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 18:41
> Head writer saying it’s a “future event” is not something you can trust at face value
Of course you can... it's a statement by the head writer. This pretty much solidifies that it is in fact a future event. When? Unclear, but that was not commented on. How? Unclear, but that was not commented on. Will? Yes.
Turbulent_Joke_29002026-01-27 21:39
Like the genshin anime?
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 23:01
Sure, why not. Both are works in progress.
W1shm4ster2026-01-27 17:32
Plot twist: Dottore didn’t do it, he just there to witness the event
Raze772026-01-27 20:42
He just wanted some world tree leaves to complete his leaf collection, he can't believe this shit.
MNUUUUU2026-01-28 09:37
Emilie was tired of never being seen outside of her story quest and decided to give irminsul a taste of the burning reaction.
baguetteispain2026-01-27 17:36
If I should speculate : by killing him, in the prime of his powers, he is now in the Irminsul
Would probably happen sooner rather than later
FreeEstablishment8982026-01-27 17:43
Im going on copium, I think the dottore will find a way to burn irmunsol and the world will be in chaos with nahida in worry but then capitano and mav come in to help with the night kingdom and give the power of night kingdom to merge/heal the irmunsol that covers every nation instead of only natlan, so this way capitano becomes playable :]
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 18:44
No.
TakeyoThissssssssss2026-01-27 17:47
According the the devs, this didn't happen yet. But they already admit to rewriting some stuffs, maybe this wont happen anymore, we just dont know.
But I bet that Dottore will return with as a new segment. But can he burn Irminsul or not is another story.
He just steal the Trilune Authority and the Shades/HP did nothing so maybe all this time Dottore will tried to exact his revenge upon Teyvat by destroy the Irminsul/Ley Lines. He seem petty enough to do something like that.
Nino_sanjaya2026-01-27 18:05
Did people really think Dottore is dead?
Normal-Link54152026-01-27 18:06
people keep forgetting that this is from Collei's dream
Ryuunoru2026-01-27 18:45

siriuslupin652026-01-28 00:14
I would love if we just get Collei just dreaming this in-game and thats it lol
Fun-Performer-34412026-01-28 03:50

Abject-Register71642026-01-27 18:19
What does it mean for Teyvat if the Irminsul is burned down?
KPmine12026-01-27 18:22
For a while I legit thought they forgot about this haha maybe they’ll go back to it soon or such as the plot does seem to suggest it will, but for a long while I thought they forgot haha
Plus-Theme-32832026-01-27 18:28
I always thought it's mere symbolitsm for the distraction that dottore well bring to sumeru in collie mind but according to some people the Devs said it's actually a future event so idk

Dw twin. Dottore will be playable 💙
Kazuha-simp2026-01-28 01:59
Lets hope, and let's pray that it won't be a rebellious segment that actually disagrees with other dottores and becomes our friend
Zesty_Depth_6492026-01-28 08:37
nope I feel like that would be unlikely. Dottore isn’t hostile towards traveler at all
Kazuha-simp2026-01-28 08:39
Well it doesn't matter cuz majority already hate him for hurting their new favorite waifu
Zesty_Depth_6492026-01-28 08:41

Zesty_Depth_6492026-01-28 08:43
The glaze of her is so crazy. Suddenly everything in the game revolves around her and people think columbina x traveler is canon which is so funny. Just wait till she’s irrelevant again and they release a new waifu
Kazuha-simp2026-01-28 08:46
Just like citlali and Ayaka, she will be forgotten and thrown out. But yea making the entire region and 2 of its villains (both male and both characters we've been waiting for for ages) revolve all around her just ruined all my excitement for nod krai. Varka wasn't relevant at all, durin neither except for his own patch but then his story wasn't even a part of nod krai region, flins got overshadowed by her and lauma in his own patch, Dottore and rerir were relevant for a single patch and then both *died* to push binas story
Zesty_Depth_6492026-01-28 09:08
Dw. I think there were two segments in that quest and only moonttore died. There was a subtle change in his tone which points at different segments. He’ll have his own story in snezhnaya trust 💙

Probably the same chance of happening as Reburn/Reburn 2 over in Honkai Impact. Which is to say it'll happen during a Solar Alignment between our Solar System and Alpha Centauri, during a double Leap Year, on the First of Never.
Those Video's on Youtube are never Canon. Case in point, answer these Questions:
* What did they Bury? Signora turned to dust in Tenshukaku, and the Shogun doesnt strike me as the kind of being to accept a cleanup crew from the Fatui to collect them.
* Why do they know Scaramouches location when its established that he went Rouge/AWOL upon attaining the Electro Gnosis?
* Why is Dottore telling them what he plans to do? Since the manga hes never told anyone shit about his goals.
These three questions not only undermine the Video's Authenticity, they are also answered in Game before the video was ever released.
coffeeaddictfromcebu2026-01-28 00:56
I blame Varka's comment on Dottore being a college drop-out. He took it badly and now he's burning the tree.

The gnosis plan was only sacrificing the souls

Your assumption is born of Ignorance. miHoYo can, has and will expend that kindve resources just to gaslight their playerbase.
2026: that's exactly what will happen. And that tree will most likely be a fake irminsul, as the real irminsul's place was just changed....
They did say it will happen.
"But why? What do you mean your missing soul?"
"Plot! And more Plot!" Bad plot, but plot.
Hopefully this burning tree has more plot other than "I want shiny boom blood rocks"
EDIT: Wait, but he erased his segments at the end of the Sumeru storyline in exchange for the gnosis. He shouldn't have any segments left.
Though even if she didn't, Wanderer would have to know he's got segments so it's weird he didn't say anything. Especially at the end when he mentions still feeling like he has a chip on his shoulder. (Columbina knows about the segments, obvs. So it's extra weird she didn't say anything.)
Also, the scene in the trailer shows Columbina talking with Dottore, but I supposed they're talking in the past since Columbina still with Fatui. So Dottore somehow predicting his other segment to complete this task in the future?
If Irminsul burned down, all of Teyvat's information would be erased. The only way people would remember Scara is if the info about his existence were restored to Irminsul. Burning Irminsul destroys info, it doesn't restore.
Regarding the dialogue, I'd take it with a grain of salt at least for now. The trailers/teasers are always baiting. Just a few patches ago, Neuvillette supposedly got stabbed.
Personally, my bet is that Dottore will *think* he’s burning the tree, but Nahida actually has him in a dream.
Of course you can... it's a statement by the head writer. This pretty much solidifies that it is in fact a future event. When? Unclear, but that was not commented on. How? Unclear, but that was not commented on. Will? Yes.
Would probably happen sooner rather than later
But I bet that Dottore will return with as a new segment. But can he burn Irminsul or not is another story.
He just steal the Trilune Authority and the Shades/HP did nothing so maybe all this time Dottore will tried to exact his revenge upon Teyvat by destroy the Irminsul/Ley Lines. He seem petty enough to do something like that.
