You used it on a perfectly fine piece. Reshape is for if that piece didn't roll into crit at all.
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:04
Why perfect? It got 1 roll into Def% lol
LackingSimplicity2026-01-27 21:07
There's a 3.125% chance that you don't roll defence at least once using a feather, even with 4 guaranteed rolls, let alone 2.
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:08
Got it, I've only done that thing once, I really have no idea where to use it properly, I thought that was the right option here.
Hojuma2026-01-27 23:52
"Perfectly fine" doesn't exactly mean "perfect". It just means it's fine, or acceptable.
MofoPro2026-01-27 21:04
First time ?
They never said it would reshape in your favor 100% of the time 🤣
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:05
Second time, first time was when that thing got released, I even forgot what was the result
SplendidSeaSalt2026-01-27 21:07
I mean, it was already 3 out of 4 rolls into crit. The only improvement would be the 6.25% chance that all four rolls go into crit
Getting equal or worse was kinda just the expected result
Tensz2026-01-27 22:44
People are just really bad at math.
Hojuma2026-01-27 23:46
Some don't even think of math in these cases. They just assume things.
xyzqsrb02026-01-27 21:08
Definitely wouldn't be wasting reshapes on a 2x def piece 3 liner lol.
Forgot2Catfish2026-01-27 21:10
This was my thoughts exactly
omegavolt92026-01-27 21:11
I think a good rule of thumb is to never reroll an artifact unless your reroll would get at least as many of the target stats as it already had.
You had 2 crit damage and 1 crit rate, that's 3 total rolls, and your reroll only guaranteed 2. At minimum you should've only rerolled something that had 2, 1, or 0 rolls into the desired stats.
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:13
Ok, I like this rule, thanks! I will try to check if it's usable for anything else I have :)
omegavolt92026-01-27 21:15
It's slightly annoying that you need to use rerolls to upgrade it to guarantee more rolls. The default of 2 guaranteed rolls is pretty bad for how much it costs. At least in the long run it will eventually reach 4 guaranteed rolls.
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:17
I agree, I only tried with this one because I thought it could be an upgrade for my Ei, but not luck enough for it hehe
Good thing is that I have many more feathers as I haven't used more than once before this :)
OmniOnly2026-01-27 21:15
what were you expecting you only miss 1 roll?
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:16
I was expecting to not roll on def :')
Tensz2026-01-27 22:51
Are you bad at math? The chance of that happening is around 6%. Only 1 in 20 times rerolling would get you that outcome. Most of the time you get something worse.
Parapraxium2026-01-27 21:23
Never reshape a 3 liner, give me your feathers you're grounded
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:24
Wait, what is a 3 liner? Also no please, I need those feathers!
Parapraxium2026-01-27 21:47
If at level 0 the artifact has only 3 active substats it's a 3-liner. A 4-liner starts with all 4 substats active; that means with levels 4,8,12,16,20, you get a total of 5 rolls instead of only 4.
You can tell it's a 3 liner cuz there's only a total of 4 rolls in your screenshot (yellow circle numbers)
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:49
Ah I see, then only use feathers if it's a 4 liner, right? Thanks for explaining it :)
Chtholly132026-01-27 21:41
the joke was thinking you would expect much of an improvement over what you had. That piece was perfectly fine and you thinking you'd hit 4 times was the foolish part.
ianmeyssen2026-01-27 21:42
Nah this is on you dawg 😭
- 3 liner
- 3 of the 4 rolls are already into crit
- two dead stats
- standard feather, so only two crit rolls are guaranteed (high chance of losing third roll to defence
This artifact needed a miracle (or a fully maxed hallowed exegesis feather) to see an upgrade
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 21:47
Like I said in another comment, wth is a 3 liner? Never heard of it.
Also it's not a feather, look at the main status again :)
ianmeyssen2026-01-27 21:58
>Like I said in another comment, wth is a 3 liner? Never heard of it.
Basically artifacts can either start out with all 4 substats unlocked, which gives you another 5 rolls as you level it to lvl 20, while some start out with only 3 unlocked until you get it to lvl 4, essentially losing one of those 5 extra rolls.
The first kind is often dubbed "4-liners" and the second "3-liners"
3-liners are generally worse, since they have less chances of rolling into good stats and even in perfect scenarios their potential will always be lower than a 4-liner, as they could roll into useful stats 5 times.
You should generally only use your rerolls on 4-liners, not 3-liners, precisely because it gives more chances to roll better and it has a higher potential value if you get lucky
>Also it's not a feather, look at the main status again :)
My bad, i meant the reroll item, not the artifact piece
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 23:04
Thanks, the other guy also explained it, I had no idea people called those like that lol
I normally upgrade those called 3 liner as I don't have luck with 4 sub rolls, never even get the bases I want to upgrade hahaha
> My bad, i meant the reroll item, not the artifact piece
No problem!
Tensz2026-01-27 22:46
You already had 3 of the 4 possible rolls on crit. You only had around 6% chance of getting 4 rolls (an improvement), and a 25% chance of getting 3 rolls (so the same as you already had). So you had a 69% chance of rolling something worse, and you did get something worse, as expected.
KombuchaWay2026-01-27 23:05
I didn't know the chances were that low, but thanks :)
