Anybody else bothered by this?
I’ve been playing on and off since 1.1, and this is something that I can’t understand why it hasn’t improved. In fact, it got worse.
There’s no consistency across UIs. Events, coop, domains. Every screen has its own rules.
I have no clue how this translates to PC, but I assume it’s a non issue on mobile.

Others games like Fortnite change the icons from PS4 to Ps5, removing the colors
And I say this as someone that *enjoyed* minimalism before
It wasn't the case that he jumped ship because he didn't like the nazis; it was the other way around.
I'd have put "fun fact" at the beginning of this reply, but I don't think it's very fun.
We need a ○ Start option too
Sometimes you have timers in secondes, sometimes in MM:SS and often objective and timers are not in the same format.
So it's not 420 / 60 = 7, it's \[clock\]10:00 - (\[seconds/minutes\]420/60) = \[clock\] 10:00 - \[minutes\] 7 = \[clock\] 3:00
You're not just dividing, you have to shave that answer off the initial timer to figure out how long you have until it's a fail and you gotta retry.
I don't have issues with doing the math, and I'd be pretty disappointed in myself if I couldn't figure it out, but I do agree that it would be nice if they just limited the way they displayed stuff like this to an easily understandable context that doesn't require as much brainpower.
Maybe there's a racist joke to be had here in that the average intended/original player base is expected to handle this extent of mental math, but let's not go there.
bro that looks shit
I have no clue how Playstation is that bad.
The other platforms might not have this exact problem, but they sure as hell have problems.
Mobile is probably the least compromised, but even on mobile, there are basic features missing like UI scaling/customization, so back in the day before they gave Android controller support (after 5 years), the controls were borderline unusable when I tried playing Genshin on my 12.6" tablet - the buttons were way too far apart.
On KB/M, instead of being a normal game and letting you interact with the UI simply by clicking a button, or at most double clicking, Genshin copies their touchscreen/console UI and forces KB/M to go through the most godawful incompetent UI interactions you could think of to do things.
i.e., let's say you want to change a character's weapon. You can open the menu with a hotkey, sure. But then you have to manually click "Weapons" on the top left, then move your mouse all the way to the bottom right to click "switch", then back to the left side to actually pick a weapon, then back to the bottom right to click "switch" again. Makes sense on a phone (position right thumb while tapping with left > tap with right while repositioning left > repeat), but it's completely asinine to ask a mouse user to do the same thing.
Meanwhile, a halfway competent PC UI would do something like: Click weapons (list of weapons automatically pops up) > (mouseover shows the weapon stats+comparison) > Click weapon to swap. Pop up a confirmation if someone else is using it. Done.
And for all that compromise to keep all the UIs the same, we can't even get automatic input switching.
Edit: I play on PC with Controller.
it's never justified in Genshin though
You'll still need to press the button to the left of the touchpad instead of the touchpad when the game tells you to press the touchpad but your icons will be the correct icons.
Also wth did they think when they changed the character selection. If I want to switch a weapon and press x in the character quick selection it jumpes to ascending right away, so you need to press o instead to get to the neutral screen which is the most unintuitive way possible on ps5. I wait for the day I accidentally level a character to lvl 95 because of this shit.
Start with Square/Triangle but Select with X, navigate menus with the sticks instead of the D-pad (whyy??! It accelerates stick drift!!), R3/L3 used in menus at all, D-pad used for options (wtf), different menus having inconsistent mappings, no stick deadzone so even imperceptible drift makes it a nightmare to use the wheel and makes your character turn the wrong way, mobile-like scrolling with no mobile-like acceleration, and so on.
It's like whoever designed it lied in their resume and no one noticed.
What I said was basically that we can't assign keys as freely as in other games, like assign elemental skill/burst to LT/RT, or use arrow keys for different buttons, etc. It is way too outdated and restrictive. Not to mention the inconsistencies OP just said.
For me it's hell since genshin doesn't have native nintendo controller support like starrail and later titles do. So button ui in events never line up correctly. Most of the time it's a minor to non-issue. But that one rythem event in natlan last year was hell. None of the button positions lined up to flow nicely, and you couldn't change it without changing it for everything else in the game.
Also try crafting wood in teapot. If you are used to use X to open the add menu and square to confirm, look what they did in that menu.
Another topic is how the kick gamepad users more and more.
In Inazuma, Sumeru, Chenyu Vale and other places you can use R1 or R2 for the movement things, only need L1+Square the first time while on ground, because on ground these buttons have other uses. Kuuhenki in Nod-Krai doesn't allow you to use R1/R2 at all!

This is especially annoying if you have some time challenge and can't clear because of how they changed L1. Now it's kind of luck if the game recognize the L1+Square combo properly.
**Stop using L1 for active tasks!**
They need a PS5 beta. It's just becoming a joke.
It's frustrating at times. But at other times.
