As a new player, I have some questions ^^
hiya! I’m Tara, i recently started playing genshin a while back but quit haha all I had managed to do before I lost interest was some of the beginner quests, recently I’ve gotten back into it and have some general questions.
I follow many ppl who play on TikTok and keep hearing about “mats“ I have no idea what those are, I also have no idea what the “resin” is used for.
how do I obtain starglitter?
what are elemental orbs and um how do I use them?
is there a cheat code for all the elements ik hydro is water, pyro is fire idk the rest T\^T
when I played before I only had the 4 main starters (Lumine, Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa) I have since obtained these character:
fischl, razor, tighnari, Columbina, Sethos, Kaveh, Noelle, Ifa, Lynette, sucrose, and Barbra
im struggling to find a “team” with the current characters I have that will actually do something
im unfortunately unsure on how to get primogems (I know abt the exploring and quests) I’ve been doing the archon Quests (currently on chapter 1 Act III The floating palace but have to get to level 28 before I can continue the quest I’m on rank 25)
im also confused about how to level up your world and what does it do, I can accend my level however I’m not sure how or which of my characters to use for the accend quest to accend my level, I apologize if I’m rambling about the same thing I’m not sure about the game in general. I’ve started playing, but I was mainly doing quests so I have been earning my XP through quests. I’m unsure about how to save my primogems without spending them so I have them for a characte I would like to try to attempt to max out my Columbina but still have to unlock her area for her flowers ;-;

"Mats" are most likely "materials." It's what you need to level characters and weapons. Like flower, monster drops, or from something called "domains."
You probably need to switch up a couple of members pretty often, in order to do certain puzzles or fighting specific enemies. I started an account recently, and I use Succrose, Columbina, Fischl, and a slot I swap for whatever I need. If you have enough wishes, the next banner with Zibai will be a very good banner for for you.
You get them by playing the game: quests, dailies, and exploration.
When your Aventure Rank reaches 20/25/30/35/40/45/50/55/58, your World Level will increase by 1. Additionally, you need to complete Ascension Quests at Adventure Ranks 25/35/45/50/58 respectively to increase your World Level (paraphrased from in game).
The pink wish gems are typically the ones you want to buy - don't spend primogems on the blue wish gems, you'll get those occasionally from various sources (quests and stuff) but they're generally less valuable.
You don't have to get picky (ie. pick characters based on who is "good") until you start trying to do really challenging endgame content, if you even want to do that stuff.
Lantern Rite (event) is coming up. You get some pulls and a free 4 star.
You can get primogems by completing dailies. Every day there are four quests you may complete in your journal. They may appear in regions you have unlocked, or you can set which region they appear in. The quests have purple sparkle markers. There is a degree of randomness in these quests. If you complete all four, talk to Katherine at any adventurers' guild and she will give you a small reward that includes 20 primogems. There are other methods, but this one is consistent and does not require you to pay any money.
Select a character you like and invest hard in them. If you love Kaeya for example, he's a good all-rounder. You're going to use them a lot so pick your favorite for now rather than the "best" one. Then find out what characters work with him best among yours, and work on improving those three. Once you're comfortable, you might start thinking like "but what if i also did this" and you'll add one more character, and one more, and so forth. One day you have forty characters and you're like, how did I get here, heh.
Sethos, Columbina, Sucrose, Barbara would be a possible team. Barbara is a powerful healer who would make things easier. Sucrose magnifies her teammates, especially hydro teammates (barbara and columbina). Sethos leads the team and does bow attacks. You could also use Tighnari or Kaveh instead of Sethos probably.

The guides provide help but it is okay if you do not follow them exactly. Consider it a list of ideas.
I do not recall what the number of team slots is tied to - perhaps it was associated with your adventure level. I know I have far more than I need at around 30 characters though.
Starglitter you gain via wishing, only use it to buy more wishes.
Mats means material a character needs either to level up or to increase their talents
Resin is refreshed by time and its used to get those mats. You can farm money, experience books to level characters, artifacts to increase their power, boss drop or talents drops
Elements are Hydro (Water), Pyro (Fire), Dendro (Grass), Electro (Electric), Cryo (Ice), Geo (Earth), Anemo (Wind)
Elemental orbs are dropped by enemies ar certain HP treshholds and when they die, they refill your elemental burst. Burst works off a stat called energy recharge, the more you have the faster you get the burst.
Team wise early on you dont really care as its piss easy. If you want a coherent team then Tighnari, Columbina, Sucrose Barbara can work as thats what we call a LunarBloom team
Primogems you get from everyhing. Puzzles arlund the map, chests around the map, quests, achievments, turorials, daily commision after a certain adventure rank, from AR level up, from endgame stuff etc
World level up increases the difficulty of your world - increases levels of enemies, bosses etc. but as compensation they will drop more materials for you
Pull whoever you like but there are some characters that you want on your account. With the Latern Rite even coming Xingqui would do wonders for your account.
Keep in mind that for exploration and overworld combat, there aren't really any 'bad' characters. However, it’s a different story when it comes to the game's endgame content. Don’t sweat it, though—if you like Zibai, go ahead and pull for her! Especially since you have five years' worth of exploration, puzzles, and quests to do; you’re definitely not going to run out of Primogems. Worst-case scenario, there’s always a rerun.
Also, Zibai is a DPS. If you want to make a 'safe' choice, I’d recommend pulling for support characters first, then DPS. Generally speaking, supports are powercrept much slower than DPS characters. I hope this helps! :)
Soon, there will be the Lantern Rite celebration (when Zibai is released), where you’ll get to pick a free 4-star character from a Liyue lineup. For that, I’d suggest picking either Xiangling, Xingqiu, or Yaoyao. I’d probably lean towards Yaoyao, as she’s a Dendro healer who provides really solid Dendro application.
Resin is what you need to build characters, you spend it for the various things you need for your characters. You use it to claim boss materials needed to ascend, claim leylines for Mora/XP, Domains for Artifacts/Talent materials/Weapon materials. (Note: Until you reach AR45 and are allowed to challenge highest domain levels, don't bother with artifacts.)
To ascend world level: You beat Ascension quest -> AR & World level go up.
What ascending world level does: World enemies are stronger, drop more materials, and your characters are allowed to level/ascend to higher levels. Also some quests require some minimum AR.
Starglitter is basically a small 'refund' you get while making wishes.
For Columbina materials: You should have a few waypoints unlocked around the map (may require zoom in), you could use those to hop over and gather materials. (might trigger some world quests, but can just ignore those until you do reach the area normally)
Resin is basically your refilling stamina that you use in order to obtain a lot of the mats you need to improve your characters. You can spend it on various challenges for rewards, with each attempt taking between 20-60 resin each, depending on what you're doing. Resin is refilled at a rate of 1 per 8 minutes, or 180 per day.
You obtain starglitter by obtaining duplicate copies of characters, as well as 4/5 star weapons. If you have a character with maxed out constellations, then you'll get 2.5x the normal amount of starglitter when you obtain them.
Elemental orbs (aka particles) are generated when you use various abilities with your characters, with their elemental skill typically being the main generator of them. When you collect them, they'll charge up your elemental burst.
Hydro=water, pyro=fire, cryo=ice, electro=electricity, anemo=wind, geo=earth, and dendro=plants
As for characters, for now, i'd just stick with using your favorites until you get a better grasp on how the combat systems work. My only big recommendation would be to include Barbara, since she's a pretty relialbe healer.
For primogems, you just naturally get them from doing most tasks, such as quests, exploration, and events. There isn't really any "cheat code" to grind a ton of them easily.

Very difficult to find someone who Columbina will work well with, as she's designed with the units from the new land in mind. If you did choose to go for Zibai, they'd certainly work well together.
Have you got any catalyst billets for crafting? Columbina's best free weapon is Prototype Amber, which a blacksmith can craft for you if you have the materials.
For team use Tighnari, Columbina, Fischl, Barbara temporarily for now.
Primogems are "limited" currency that you can get only from events, quest, exploration(as listed are one time only) and from permanent endgame content like Abyss, Imaginarium Theater and Stygian Onslaught. (Abyss and IT renew every 30 days and SO is once per version patch) and Daily Commission (60 primos daily).
There's a quest called Ascension Quest will be appearing when you reach the Adventure Rank (AR) lvl cap. You need to do that quest to progress your AR lvl. Once you done it, it will increase your World Lvl by 1 and let you progress your AR lvl until next cap. What increased World Lvl does is, it raise enemies difficulty and in return boost your material drop rate for Bosses, Mobs and Domain(where you farm your Talent and Weapon upgrade mats and Artifacts).
For saving primogems I only have one advice. Just save primogems and don't spend it until you see the character banner you like to pull for. Mind you this is basically a ""Gambling Simulator""". So, be mindful about it, plan ahead and control your urge to gacha on every single banner.
You need AR 50 to max out character.
4 stars- Bennett, Xingqiu, Iansan, Chevreuse, Xiangling, Gaming, Yaoyao, Beidou, Diona, Collei
5 stars- Xilonen, Furina, Mavuika, Kazuha, Citlali Durin, Ineffa (great synergy with columbina)
