The most disturbing scene in the latest archon quest
Not exactly the same, but this kinda reminds me of FMA.

Dottore had a fma marathon before he got the moons, he just wanted to try by himself
TunaTunaLeeks2026-01-29 01:40
Could you imagine if they had a girl named Nina swapped with a dog in this scene?
Niklear2026-01-29 10:23
That just says ED....UARDO.

ItsukiKurosawa2026-01-29 01:12
This reminded me of Detective Pikachu where the villain randomly fused humans with Pokémon for some reason.
acart0052026-01-29 02:18
He was trying to figure out how to fuse himself with Mewtwo
ItsukiKurosawa2026-01-29 02:23
I'm referring to the ending when he jumped out the window fused with Mewtwo and decided to fuse people on the street with Pokémon that were there. I didn't understand why he would do that if he had already achieved what he wanted.
acart0052026-01-29 02:24
Mass confusion so someone couldn't stop his plan like the protaganists did.
He had some Joker 'we live in a society' stuff going on too.
Salter_KingofBorgors2026-01-29 05:13
He believed becoming Pokémon was the next step in human evolution
Speransed2026-01-29 01:12
Rhinedotter has done some pretty messed up stuff in the past , but if she does something like this in present day , I don't think I could ever excuse it
Artistic_Cable62182026-01-29 10:29
Well, She can now create humans for experiments if she wants (well, that's the suggestion, judging from the trailer). I'd like to know how much Naberius can influence her. We know she neutralized the madness Rhine suffered during the cataclysm (the voices in her head, like Rerir's). And seems she doesn’t has abyss power anymore
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:41
She does much worse for a living
cjcduck172026-01-29 01:17
The human mind cannot handle being contained in an animal’s brain due to their difference in sizes, so they rapidly devolve to fit their new brain, now being just an animal (yet just enough sense left to not abandon their human bodies) It’s extremely haunting and Dottore really is one sick bastard.
Kevingame32026-01-29 03:14
He is sick as the high evolutionary from Marvel
ezio452026-01-29 12:01
Don't let Dottore read All Tomorrows. He'd try to replicate whatever the Qu did.
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:10
Where are you getting that from, exactly?
PhantomHeartless52026-01-29 01:36
Scary part is that this is what’s happening in just ***ONE*** of Dottore’s energy fields. We never learn what goes on in the other two…

Isn’t it 6 fields? 2 on Lempo Isle, 1 at the Design Bureau, then the remaining 3 north of that one.
Nuka-Crapola2026-01-29 03:23
IIRC some of them merge by the end, but yes, he started at least 6 experiments. And that’s not counting anything that finished before the boss fight, since he doesn’t seem like the type to take breaks.

Dome 33: 1 male, and 100 females
Dome 42: Each person is given a number, only by adding all the numbers together they will all live or they all die.
NamerNotLiteral2026-01-29 13:53
Mr. Beast ahh domes
kaikalaila2026-01-29 11:09
scary part is this is almost the same stuff that happened to those cursed to be hilichurl...
Jaynat_SF2026-01-29 11:41
At least one of them involved an experiment where he was trying to rizz up a Descender for hours on end.
That experiment ended up failing, though.
Neospanner2026-01-29 17:37
Albedo pretty much instantly gives up hope on anyone caught inside:
>**Albedo:** Also, we managed to take a look inside. Dottore is carrying out his cruel experiments on an immense scale. Any residents who have failed to evacuate in time will likely meet a grisly end.
LoftyDaBird2026-01-29 18:22
A grisly end and yet not one of those animals were a bear 😔
rdhight2026-01-29 17:56
He's a real scientist. One of them will be a control group.

Bruh
ezio452026-01-29 12:03
Especially since Albedo was there too.
dave_the_dova2026-01-29 02:14
It’s also pretty interesting that the one experiment we see involves transferring one’s soul or whatever he did into a different body.
ShinyGrezz2026-01-29 11:05
I wonder why they specifically pointed that out to us? :)
master089652026-01-29 02:16
Why does barely anyone talks about this,i've been trying to find a post discussing this for a while now
BusBoatBuey2026-01-29 03:08
There were other things to focus on. "Dottore is torturing people for science" has been discussed since before the game even came out.
master089652026-01-29 03:17
>Dottore is torturing people for science
Specifically putting human minds inside animals is worth discussing, maybe it's just me idk.
grumpykruppy2026-01-29 05:00
I mean, his *literal first appearance before the game even released* had him putting a human in a magic robot in the manga.
RagnarokAeon2026-01-29 06:57
Lol you made that sound way more tame. Technically Wanderer was put in a magic robot, what happened with that other guy was having your body be forcibly replaced with robot parts.
Accurate_Result54272026-01-29 10:36
Good ol' Krupp.
SanjiInHSR_662026-01-29 02:32
"Oh shi—" my reaction when I realized what's happening in this quest area, Dottore is a menace.
hera-fawcett2026-01-29 02:42
yeah we never went back to all those dead ppl in the dottore testing bubbles, did we?

My take is that this is how dottore "escaped"
Physical-Command21302026-01-29 08:30
traveller lowkey wanted to spend time with their gf on moon,
spartaman642026-01-29 16:17
i mean does the traveler even know about them? its albedo and durin that investigated while the traveler was trapped himself
WhyHowForWhat2026-01-29 15:00
Why would we help them? Columbina is much more important, she is our friend /s
plitox2026-01-29 02:53
L for all the players who want playable Dottore.
TabbbyWright2026-01-29 03:07
This shit was DELIGHTFULLY disturbing. 90% of the time Genshin is pretty mild as far as horror elements go, and then they hit you with stuff like this!
I'd say I want more but if they weren't so sporadic about it, stuff like this wouldn't hit so hard.
zephito2026-01-29 05:10
Oh I hope you did the Colours Out of Snezhnaya quest too
DeTiro2026-01-29 07:03
Gotta read the soldier's diaries for the full effect!
Apart_Routine27932026-01-29 09:44
I distinctly remember the Imaginary Red pull Hanami vs Gojo reference on the lost Kuuhenki
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-29 07:42
The music glitching was horrifying as well. Like even streamers were mildly disturbed by it.
Talithea2026-01-29 08:05
And the fact that are two levels of glitching. The first the is the music still going normally, just trough a broken filter. The second being the music barely holding itself.
Dottore was cracking open reality itself.
D0naught2026-01-29 07:57
We need more of this. Another disturbing thing we see is in a quest in the fontaine wq. >!Where Carter was turned into sentient mush. His body collapsed but he was still alive and conscious. Rene then cut his vocal chords to silence him.!<
neveon_2026-01-29 14:08
Wait what wq is that?
Ballad_132026-01-29 17:03
Honestly, i also thought the Apocalypse Bunker did horror fairly well. I did that late at night too, and yeah, it was kinda creepy
Kevingame32026-01-29 03:15
Yeah, this puts the high evolutionary from Marvel look like a party game
Apart_Routine27932026-01-29 09:51
What did he do?
ezio452026-01-29 12:13
He was a complete control freak. Basically took some regular animals and experimented on them to give them higher intelligence, which led to the creation of Rocket Raccoon. This was mostly a testing phase to create new beings by accelerating the evolution for random animals in order to make them sapient so he'd have a population to rule over.
The experiment didn't go well whenever he attempted it because every creature would be taken over by primal rage. It's only when Rocket pointed out what was wrong that his plan moved forward and he got his own world full of a population that he created. Up until it was pointed out that it wasn't perfect and has the same flaws Earth has, which led to him blowing it all up to start over.
Chucknasty_172026-01-29 03:28
It’s interesting how this wasn’t followed up at all after the quest, I wonder if there are bigger implications for this down the line for Dottore or the Fatui. My crack theory is that Dottore before his body got vaporized was able to swap his conscience into something else to escape death. Maybe he’s even hiding in the Travelers mind right now
DemonicChocobo2026-01-29 04:03
I think the main reason he did this was because being a False God doesn't really come with an instruction manual. He demonstrates some degree of control over Space and Time, but doesn't do a lot with Life and Death. Even then his control over Time is pretty imperfect. This experiment was probably his attempt at figuring Life and Death out?
nanimeanswhat2026-01-29 08:04
My theory is he used his "death" to infiltrate the leylines but we'll see
Artistic_Cable62182026-01-29 10:23
I think he want swap minds with Traveler and become a decender
GGG1002026-01-29 11:33
Dottore transferred his consciousness into a bird.
1lluusio2026-01-29 05:15
Wasnt it also implied or outright stated that the people who found themselves posessing animals had their minds start to devolve to match the animals? That is quite honestly a horrifying thought when you think about it
Also, I wonder what happened to the animals? Did their minds just get completely overwritten, considering that all the human bodies seemed to be dead? Or did they all get swapped into the human bodies before dying shortly thereafter?
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:23
I don't think it was ever confirmed that they devolve. And if they did, it wouldn't be Dottore's expected outcome.
r0ksas2026-01-29 05:20
Did we manage to save them or are they at a lost cost because at the end of AQ it wasn't explained if people involved managed to survive the doctor's experiment
erosugiru2026-01-29 06:23
Nothing, they all presumably died and stayed as animals, the most we could do was stop him from affecting more people
r0ksas2026-01-29 06:31
Well thats a depressing way to die
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:21
Given how soul transfer worked one way, it will probably work the other way too. It's most likely fully reversible.
Confident_River_35832026-01-29 05:34
That scene… FMA vibes hit differently, not gonna lie.
ValakObama2026-01-29 05:49
lmao this is just circe using pigify/transmutation
earthlydreamer2026-01-29 06:07
Worth noting, that it's also one of the strangest parts.
1. We never had a follow up on that or any other Dottore's actions. What happened to people, to his soldiers, in other domes, on the world border, with the curse etc.?
2. If you visit the actual area where the dome was there is only one NPC (trading insurances), only one functional (but still probably empty) house and fewer the path starts the restricted Fatui area (with that one quest). So the area in general is very strange, but can be chalked to in-game limitations or something.
3. Dottore's actions in general in the AQ. It's a whole different topic of discussion. Can be attributed to power getting to his head, but I doubt it. It's even highlighted by the description of version trailer:
"O born heretic, why do you no longer lurk in the somber shadows?".
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:20
Given Dottore's story isn't over, we will probably see an explanation in the future. Dottore's actions are never abitrary, there's always a higher purpose.
spartaman642026-01-29 16:18
well he transformed a lot of his soldiers into monsters to kill sandrone's people.
clitoiris2026-01-29 06:31
i actually have a question regarding this part i noticed all the aninals are obviously right beside another human (mourning their original body) but at the very end of the energy field there's a lone moose (is that what you call it?) that is seen just staying there alone with no human body near it in sight? whats up with that and am i the only one that experienced it
filipovix2026-01-29 08:41
Oh hey youre the guy who made the other post. Funnily enough i just saw yours a few posts above this one.
Connect-Version67482026-01-29 06:55
the background music glitches is kinda cool
Rain-Maker332026-01-29 07:24
Disturbing as hell. The scene had me on edge just like it did with Albedo and Hat Guy. The music was creepy, too.
I suppose the Fatui dealt with the corpses and such after the AQ.
Elaments42026-01-29 07:35
I’m almost certain that this is WHY Dottore was so desperate to obtain the Traveler’s cooperation. He may have been experimenting with the possibility of body swapping with the Traveler for their descender status in order to circumvent his fate.
The only option he may have left now is to burn the foundation of the world.
countrpt2026-01-29 10:28
It definitely makes sense to connect the dots. This is juxtaposed against Durin's character quest in the previous patch focusing on how to transfer one's fate and, with great effort, bypass it (with the Traveler as a key ingredient). The main story is also focused on Sandrone calculating fate and then using the Traveler's presence to create a new possibility (essentially, to rewrite fate). And, on the other side, we also get the reveal through Columbina that Dottore once treated her like "family" but it came with increasing "demands."
I have to assume that, the moment Dottore attained those powers, he could ascertain his own fate (perhaps even his "demise"). So the one thing he would want, at that point, would be to try to find a way to break the shackles of his fate, and the Traveler would be the key. (And heck, even the whole story about the Traveler's sibling is, broadly, about being "used" in this way. *Plus*, as you point out, we have foreshadowing of him burning Irminsul, which is directly connected to this point.)
Based on what we know from Durin's quest, I assume even transferring to the Traveler's body wouldn't have worked, because it would still be "his name" from the world's point of view. The Traveler's power to change fate isn't in their explicit abilities, so he can't gain it by indwelling us as we did with Saurians (and what he was doing here wasn't apparently even like that given the consequences). So that experiment might have been a failure, but he didn't care to either stop/reverse it or clean it up because he didn't care about any "normal" life (ever, really, but particularly at that point). That could very well be why he then reached out the Traveler directly, since they'd have to at least ostensibly be a willing participant.
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:15
This makes no sense. Dottore isn't the kind of person who would want to get rid of his whole identity. He's not a clinical narcissist, but he's definitely more to that side than the general population.
If Dottore wants to become a descender, he wants to do it by himself, not by relying on another person for it. But we don't even know if he wants to become a descender though
SwannSwanchez2026-01-29 08:17
"We gotta get out of here!"
Informal_Position1662026-01-29 08:31
We didn't learn if it was reversible did we?
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:11
Yup
Avasaiel2026-01-29 09:00
Also not quite the same, but also gave me the vibes of the boys being turned into donkeys in Pinocchio (specifically the Disney version). That transformation scene *terrified* me as a child O.O
FoxReeor2026-01-29 09:12
Yeah that's especially haunting. I draw the line there, devolving the minds of people is too much.
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:12
That's not what he did though. It's fully and entirely reversible, in case you didn't know
FoxReeor2026-01-29 12:13
Oh damn, what missing quests does to a mf. Then I'll put back my Dottore pfp, thanks for the heads-up
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:17
I think you're the one who's a lore skipper here
It's usually the Dottore antis who do that, not the other way around
If you knew all his lore, you wouldn't think he's irredeemably evil
The reason why Dottore fans are less biased is because they actually read his lore by the virtue of being fans. Non-fans are less likely to actually read it.
MaJuV2026-01-29 09:17
Kind of sad they kinda glossed over what happened to the people in these fields after the AQ. Pretty sure they all died...
Zestyclose-Pilot43162026-01-29 09:42
Thank god shittore will never be playable
FortOfSnow2026-01-29 09:53
So my theory is that he’s still working for the Tsaritsa and this experiment is going to tie in to the gnoses. Switching the soul of the third descender into another body? Hm…
AceWissle2026-01-29 10:42
What is fma?
ezio452026-01-29 12:14
Full Metal Alchemist. Highly recommend to watch it.
AceWissle2026-01-29 12:20
Thank you
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:43
There's nothing in it that is like Dottore though, the dad guy is a totally different character. OP probably either hasn't paid attention to it, or hasn't paid attention to Dottore's lore beyond what is shown in the AQ.
DottoresPet2026-01-29 12:10
Knowing Dottore, he probably has a reason for it
NecessaryAd29222026-01-29 13:34
Who the hell is that?
Fit-Application-12026-01-29 15:33
Nina let’s play
chimestonks2026-01-29 17:21
Yeah I thought about all the domes that Dottore had running too. They do say in the AQ that "everyone inside is presumed dead", on such a large scale you would think that the death toll rivals Natlan
Due-Memory-69572026-01-29 18:28
Dottore: Fuck the bear vs man hypothetical, what if you went on a hike and found a man stuck on the body of a beer
No-Word-21682026-01-29 19:32
the best part as well imo. no friendship strength content, no mc harem and random romance. just purely crazy fella testing his ability as a new god. i liked it. shows how the story can go into dark points and that is really rare in genshin.
IngwiePhoenix2026-01-29 23:05
Genuenly made me curious on Genshin's horror-game potential. Would love a little more of this. =)
