It’ll take up from 28~50Gb and it depends if you delete some of the quest files in game and what language you have it in and etc.

What about the operation system itself?

Right now I run genshin on pc mainly, but when I want to be on my bed I would run it on my m2 air, and it runs well. Ofc it would be better with m3. I believe like a 33% better performance or something around there. Make sure you turn motion blur, and Co-op effects(if you don’t play as much co-op) off. And turn on metal fx it makes the game look sm better on iPad

iPad os + system data is about 30 gb for me, I use an ipad air 5th gen (uses the m1 chip). I’d also suggest leaving around 15-20 gbs for future ipados updates. Which leaves you a little over 70 gb that you can use without worrying about each update. Which is completely fine for just genshin and maybe a few smaller apps. You might be able to squeeze in another big game, like hsr or endfield, granted you’d have to delete it or properly manage your storage for os updates.

I have to say, Genshin Impact takes up *a ton* of storage. My phone is 128GB, and I still can’t even open it. If you’re also low on storage, you can download Genshin Cloud instead, it only takes up about 6.4MB.

You gotta pay for long periods of gameplay. Not worth it, and servers are constantly crashing. Plus he’s on iPad not phone. The number one storage issue on phone is photos but on iPad you just simply not need to sync your photos. It’s pointless on iPad I believe. I have a m2 256gb and I have genshin and hsr and etc and I’ve only used up 112/128 Gb and I also have work related documents on thrrr as well.

Thanks, helped a lot. Actually I won't install anything other than genshin and telegram (with storage limit to 5 GB). I might use it to study some light PDFs too. How long have you been using your Ipad?
koalakyon2026-01-29 09:16
i got ipad air m3 with 256gb, and i got it with that much having genshin in mind. im a med student so besides genshin i do use it for note taking, school and stuff like that, also streaming. i have 150gb left on my ipad currently and genshin as of now takes up 50gb of the original size. id upgrade to a bigger memory tbh just to be safe

I'm a medical student too. I have a gaming laptop with tons of free storage. But my propblem is portability of the laptop. I travel often between university and home often like half home half university. I want the Ipad for genshin and studying (some note taking too). But for other activities like social media, anime or heavy gaming I have my phone and laptop.
But I'm worried about the 128 gb storage.
koalakyon2026-01-29 09:55
id say upgrade to more storage just for the sake of the longevity of the ipad. my main focus when buying it was that it should last until i finish college, and that i can be comfortable with it during the years i use it. as for genshin id just recommend playing it on the laptop bc it is a gaming laptop in the first case and u can make it a more wonderful habit and activity that way, when u get home and play on ur laptop as a stress relief from ur day. id use the commuting time for something else entirely, like reading the materials for class or just reading a book or something like that. besides u can play genshin on ur phone if ur too far away from ur laptop, like just doing dailies and logging out. thats what i do when i dont have the time to actually play it
edit: 128gb would be comfortable if the sole focus of note taking, streaming and school. but with the constant updates of genshin and both the ios system its a slippery slope and a rocky road
