you wont trust google translate? why is that? sure its not 100% accurate but you get the basic understandings of things i would have loved to help you but i dont speak chinese also its not like googles AI has an agenda which would mistranslate things to give u a wrong idea does it
anyways the post transtales into something where dawei shares how its been 15 years since hes been in business (he started in 2011) and how mihoyo is honoured to have helped in the development of xuhui (a region in china?) over the last 5 years (from paying taxes obiviously) and how they intend to continue helping in this development by paying more taxes in future, the gold framed certificate in the bottom is maybe an award they got from the goverment for paying them 15 billion yuan

For most users on a predominantly English platform it is as good as gibberish.

Technically it's MiHoYo only, not Hoyoverse. They are more or less different entities, and the 15B is likely for CN income only.
Then you will need to know that Chinese high-tech companies have a tax rate cap of 15% and can be slightly lower. You can now do your calculation if you want...
InterestingArt31662026-01-29 15:17
that should be around 12 billion$ in revenue from cn alone which is like a 3rd of their total income after going through taxes and platform fees, but they definetly have to pay more taxes for their oversea ventures
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 17:26
12 billion in profit, not revenue.
lizzywbu2026-01-29 17:02
Isn't Mihoyo essentially the parent company?
AncientAd49962026-01-29 17:12
They are. Hoyoverse is basically just a subsidiary/international branch that handles the distribution of their service/marketing in global, but the head and all the decisions, development, and everything else is still Mihoyo in mainland China

Text part: Basically, he's thanking Xuhui District of Shanghai for the support it has given the three of them since they started miHoYo back in 2011.
Pic part: It’s a certificate issued by the Xuhui District government to miHoYo, praising them for their outstanding contribution in paying RMB 15 billion (USD 2.1 billion) in taxes from 2021 to 2025.
ps. The RMB 15 billion refers only to the taxes paid by miHoYo to Xuhui District, and does not include taxes paid overseas by HoYoverse, nor taxes paid by other miHoYo subsidiaries in other regions within China.

I guess HSR's revenure goes to paying taxes instead of improving the game.
kokko6932026-01-29 15:27
The worst is that they doesn't even need money to improve stuff.
It's just that the people who works on HSR aren't the best. They are B team. Or even C team.
SF-UberMan2026-01-29 15:37

SSS team works on Genshin's lore. They're actual quantum existences for whom time is just another plot device.
Genshin part of Hoyomix is SS. HSR music let's be honest, relies a lot on hype but in general does not even come close to touching Genshin OST.
Endgame design team for Genshin is the F team.
World exploration is B team.
World design is A
Furina SQ1's traveller and paimon dialogue writers is F for fire them team.

Soviet1342026-01-29 15:49
Every game has its own project team
Cheese_Grater1012026-01-29 15:55
And what's stopping hoyo from re-allocating other team members to other games?
kokko6932026-01-29 16:01
Nothing, they does that sometimes.
I dunno if they did it for HSR tho
VictoryOk24602026-01-29 17:25
After a certain point, having too many people on a project might also slow it down. Especially when hiring a lot of people at once. Though, I wouldn't really say any HoYo game besides Genshin has reached that size of dev team. Pretty sure the Genshin team is around the size of the ZZZ, HSR, HI3 teams combined. Not even counting the Miliastra team.

Original-Shallot58422026-01-29 15:58
People confuse changing the idealogy of the game with improving.
Thats why you have some people like these who think the game is not "improving" when thats just objectively untrue if you just open the game.
MrCovell2026-01-29 16:05
A slightly better presented AQ is a good change but it is a single change. Imo the rest of the game still needs alot of work. Character kits are worse in Nod-Krai, shill is worse in Nod-Krai, and they release a small island map every two patches. A lot was sacrificed for the AQ. Game needs more changes and modern QOL than that anyway.
Original-Shallot58422026-01-29 16:11
We must play a different game then.
1. Not only the AQ is legit shitting on all other AQ by a mile, but better cutscenes and more of them with longer duration. If thats slight then I hope I get more of this slight improvement.
2. Characters kits are worse in Nod-Krai. Simple kits = / = worse kits. Your opinion is not the objective metric here.
3. Shill was always in the game, but you never had actual content to feel like its shilled. I already had this discussion before. If you take 90% of bosses in the game and put them into SO DIRE, they all will shill something, more or less anyway.
4. Map schedule indeed is shit right now, but thats not a downgrade or an improvement on the game itself. Im also dissapointed by this but nobody tried to ask themselvs before jumping to conclusions this: "What if this is the dimension of the map". Maybe thats how big nod krai is, we still miss 1 area at least but you get my point.
5. On some of the QOL I can agree. But unless they are asked for in MASS, you will never see them.
MrCovell2026-01-29 16:22
No we play the same game, and I enjoy Genshin, a lot. But considering how much money they’ve made off it and continue to make we shouldn’t need to make so many concessions for an improved AQ. They continue to be slow with QOL, only upgrade a few models per year with paid skins, and the character shill is getting worse. Character kits are subjective but how many times have you heard Nefer is boring, or that people were dissatisfied with Durin. Bro can’t fly and if he didn’t have dragon wings or a tail(that he doesn’t use in combat at all) it’d be hard to tell he was a dragon at all based on his kit/animations. And just wait till Varka releases. My point is, the AQ is much better than past AQs but aside from that nothing else has changed for the better and the game is more or less the same as ever. Which is sad considering the insane amounts of money it makes
Original-Shallot58422026-01-29 16:42
Half of your comment goes exact to my point 5.
"They continue to be slow with QOL". I agree and dissagree at same time. On the dissagrement part its because a lot of these "allegedly most asked features" are not exactly the most asked features in the first place.
The game was,is and will always be catered to a very very casual audience. When you have prob like 80-90% of a casual audience, certain QOLs that look like would help a lot of us, do not matter for the bigger picture. And Im in the small picture and I can still understand why its like that.
Best examples out of all them: Artifact loadouts. People who talk about artifact loadouts are making it like whole playerbase is asking for this. But if you go outside of 2 subbreddits (and this is in few posts in the first place) and 2 youtube accounts, nobody gives a shit about this feature.
You still got sort of loadouts in the game tho, but with a caveat and very much implemented to help newer players. Same with other features aswell that are made in mind with helping the most below average gamer ever.
Another example on wich I agree that should be changed: Weekly boss farming. Im not a casual player by absolute any means, you know that I dont even care about this? I do agree with people that should be changed, but if my attitude towards this is "I can farm next week", now imagine people who dont even play to maximize everything. They absolutely do not care about this.
TLDR on QOLS: A loud minority makes a "feature" look like its the most asked since Dinosaurs died, but thats not how it works. (And im one of those that agree with changes).
"Character kits are subjective but how many times have you heard Nefer is boring, or that people were dissatisfied with Durin". I dont think I ever heard Nefer is boring. I dont know wich circles you are around but this is a new for me. And Durin also, I didnt saw anybody being dissapointed beside the fact that people think every character who has wings should fly. Then you must be in for a surprise cause theres plenty of characters that cant fly but have some sort of wings.
"game is more or less the same as ever" This right here is why I still believe after writing this comment wich probably is useless for someone like you, that we dont play the same game.
It is what it is.
VictoryOk24602026-01-29 17:29
They also confuse money with time and man power. Like, the Genshin dev team is so unfathomably large that hiring more people barely does anything at this point. Unless they are already super qualified. And those increases in man power they do make, need to be few and far in-between. To not clog up the dev cycle too much whilst "teaching the new guys".

Also, I hope it's clear that there isn't one single monolithic "Genshin Team".
I don't know how exactly Genshin's teams are set up, and unless you have inside information, neither do you, but, for example, if they currently have 3 teams trading off between regions, Mihoyo could use money and resources to add a 4th team to trade off between regions, and give each regional team an extra year, in which they could build more fully acted out cutscenes, etc.
Money and resources could add more localization teams, and voice actors and recording studios (which are often outsourced to begin with, so it's not like Mihoyo would need deep coordination and training), so that world quests can also get fully voiced.
Even if all of this does still take time to train new staff and get them up to speed, it's not like Mihoyo hasn't had ***SIX WHOLE YEARS*** of gangbusters profits to get started or anything. And that in a country that currently has an oversupply of highly educated new university graduates looking for work.
But no, Genshin's fans, people who are supposed to like the game, just instantly give up on any possibility that the game could be better, could *actually* have the level of quality of a AAA game. No, Genshin can't get better, STFU and stop expecting the multibillion dollar corporation to improve.

h_hue2026-01-29 15:47
ok a few things:
* the 15 billion CNY isn't directly paid to the government from income, but rather all taxes "created" by mihoyo -- this includes the taxes the employees and subcontractors are paying, etc.
* if this is real, then this is NOT the entirety of the taxes they paid, only the taxes paid to xuhui district.
* the legitimacy of this entire post is quite dubious. mihoyo did [win something from xuhui yesterday](https://www.shanghai.gov.cn/nw15343/20260127/ed978a49fc4c4b7ba0138442c5e73be6.html) (official government link), but it doesn't look all that similar from this. could be another award given on the same day though, im not really sure.
at least one thing is real though, mihoyo is from xuhui, and has been there since their inception. i used to live there, and their offices were 2 subway stops away from my house. and they have always had a close relationship to the district government.

based on tax ratesof China, their revenue in China over the past five years was between $18 billion and $26 billion.
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 17:34
Their profits, businesses don't pay taxes on revenue like you and me, they pay taxes on profits after all their costs are deducted.
Great-Background15872026-01-29 17:59
Maybe I should investing all of my salary in bussin
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 17:48
Mihoyo pays 11% taxes on profits in China, which means they made about 23 billion in profits since 2011.
We know they used basically all their savings of 100 million to make Genshin so HI3 profits wouldn't factor hugely into this.
Assuming Genshin and HSR revenue are split 5050 and assuming they spend at least 50% of their revenue on costs such as development, marketing, wages, amortization etc. Plus developing 1 billion new games.
That would put their revenue for Genshin at **23/0.5*0.5=23 billion or 4.6 billion per year in revenue.**
Which roughly falls in line with the often rumoured 4 billion per year that Genshin makes. The number is likely higher since Genshin has a much bigger component of PC players than HSR given HSR is much more mobile friendly and Genshin got a 32% price hike on ios and android yet it's still neck and neck with hsr on the mobile charts.
I guess now we know why they are developing new games like crazy, because it expands their portfolio while lowering profits which gets taxed.
Gaaraks2026-01-30 09:59
>That would put their revenue for Genshin at **23/0.5*0.5=23 billion or 4.6 billion per year in revenue.**
It is likely much higher not only because of what you said, but because genshin released first.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was like a 66%/33% split.
And note, this is just mainland china numbers for revenue. And in fact this is only taxes paid to xuhui district (which would be the biggest number), there are still taxes that would be paid in other places.
