Hello Everybody,

I’m sharing this message from a place of deep disappointment. I feel it deserves attention from people in official positions, even though I know it may be met with criticism. Still, I believe it is better to speak up than to stay silent.

I joined the official Discord server as a brand new Genshin Impact player, hoping to learn, ask questions, and understand the basics of the game. I started playing only five days ago, and like most new players, I rely on publicly available information such as YouTube guides, Reddit discussions, and insights from well-known content creators to understand team building and progression.

Within ten minutes of joining, I asked what I believed was an innocent, beginner-level question: whether I should invest in Zibai as a main DPS or wait for Flins. That single question ended my participation almost immediately. I was muted, and shortly after, banned for three days. The reason given was that mentioning Flins involved “secret” or leaked information.

As a new player, this was shocking. There was no warning, no explanation, and no indication that this topic was restricted. Flins is discussed openly across YouTube, Reddit, Google searches, and by major content creators. I did not share leaks, datamined content, or unreleased assets , only information that is widely and publicly accessible.

I have been playing games for over thirty years and have participated in countless online communities. In all that time, I have never been muted or banned, especially not within minutes of joining a server, for asking a basic question in good faith.

The experience was not just frustrating; it was genuinely discouraging. For a new player seeking guidance, being silenced so abruptly sends a clear message that curiosity is risky and mistakes are punished rather than corrected.

This situation highlights a deeper issue in how moderation policies are applied to new members and how restricted topics are communicated. If expectations are not clearly stated, new players are set up to fail. No one should be penalized for referencing information that is already public while they are still learning the rules of a new community.

I’m sharing this not out of anger, but out of concern. Communities grow when newcomers feel welcomed and guided, not when they are muted into silence for not knowing what they were never told.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I sincerely hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future new players.
