Anyone else annoyed that lore-relevant World Quests aren't voiced? I found a channel with fandubs of your favorite unvoiced world quests!
I'm not affiliated with them, but I just love what they're doing. Maybe someone else wants to know about 'em

I am a new player and genshin is my FIRST rpg game..I just completed Liuye Archon quests they were great .. but other quests (world quests ) r so boring for me without any voice overs and there r no skip option annoy me so much.... I haven't done many World quests in liuye because of this..

They literally unlock parts of the map that would be inaccessible without.
Not to mention that some of Genshin's best storytelling is hidden in these world quests.
Alpha06Omega092026-01-29 17:01
Genshinsmost worth stories are in the world quests…
The-Iraqi-Guy2026-01-29 16:55
In Mond and Liyue the world quests are mostly boring.
But later on, in the Chasm, Inazuma and afterwards they become an important part of the exploration.
They permanently change the landscape and unlock various secret areas.
Not to mention some of the most beloved NPC's are from said WQ.
Alpha06Omega092026-01-29 17:01
Good world quests start from Inazuma and further
pHScale2026-01-29 20:14
Enkanomiya and Tsurumi Island have fantastic world quests. The other islands, I think they were still learning.
Sumeru had amazing world quests, even if they were super long.
Fontaine got the pacing right, but Narzissenkreuz didn't grab my attention like Jeht or the Aranara.
Natlan, I liked most of Little One's quests and Ochkanatlan, but the volcano kinda lost me.
And I like Nod Krai's world quests so far, but that could be recency bias.
kazuviking2026-01-29 18:15
Well the game was a BOTW clone at that point so its understandable. The archon quest gets more budget put into around fontaine then in luna but 99% world quest wont be voiced at all.
Recent_Fan_60302026-01-29 18:16
Peak of sumeru's story is its desert world quests imo, aranyaka can be very divisive due to its length, inazuma, fontaine and natlan's series are also fantastic
Visual_Lab_75082026-01-29 21:06
as a player since launch i have all quests up to inazuma but the fact theres no skip button is so annoying cause in 2020 i was like 12 n didnt have anything to do but rn i have a life and can barely play genshin, world quest and character quests already take up so much time, i know i can just ignore them which is what i currently do but i obviously want the rewards
Flipperblack2026-01-29 16:46
First time with a gatcha game?
Nyancromancer2026-01-29 17:36
They can't voice every lore related world quest, that's higly expensive and time consuming, unless the world becomes more allowing with AI, that's something that's just not going to happen. thats why only Archon, Character or event quests get voiced.
but it's nice that some people have gotten together to do this
egudu2026-01-29 19:40
> higly expensive
It's not. First of all because it isn't and second of all because this is not a valid reason for one of the richest game developers on this planet anyway. Lol people downvoting me - come one, give some reasons why a 6 billion USD/year company cannot pay a couple of thousands of dollars. I'm all yours.
Nyancromancer2026-01-29 21:09
it is infact expensive to pay voice actors properly, especially when you are dubbing more than 1 language, and yes it's a valid reason, doesn't matter what someone who can't understand how running the game thinks. there's also the time and resource management of talent and data..etc it just doesn't scale to the pace of updates.
egudu2026-01-29 21:12
> it is infact expensive to pay voice actors properly, especially when you are dubbing more than 1 language, and yes it's a valid reason
Revenue: 6.000.000.000 USD. Per Year.
Now tell me, how much of a percentage of that do you think will voicing the world quests be - which mostly involve absolute noname characters.
Nyancromancer2026-01-29 21:23
You are being beyond stupid, hoyo does more than just develop for genshin, they have many other games running, and are putting resources into other projects that will bring in more income, which is worth more than adding voices into side quests on just the cost value of 1 game. hell, some of the money surely goes to bonus pay to employees.
"Billion dollar company this" "Billion dollar company that"
if you want you can go make your own company and make a game and try to implement everything you want, maybe you will be the next billion dollar company
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 17:55
These not being voiced allows them too write in a way more in depth and indulgent way where they just nerd out.
Archon Quests are written like screenplays while WQs are written more like books and most of the lines won't translate well to voicing nor will voicing even add a tonne beyond a superficial sense of production value.
If they were voiced, I also don't think they'd be written the way they are nor will they be as extensive. You're talking about doubling or tripling the hiring and management workload.
What I do want is the high concentration of actual gameplay beyond "walk 3 steps and press a button to watch a dialogue scene" to be added to the Archon quest from world quests.
kazuviking2026-01-29 18:13
>These not being voiced allows them too write in a way more in depth and indulgent way where they just nerd out.
Insert black screen with white text during the most important parts, powerpoint presentation, paimon repeats the conversation most of the time, hypes up what you have to do and its walk here, spam space, press F, tp to next location.
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 18:18
Are you talking about the journey to Inazuma scene where we saw a black screen instead of the lightning storm that they hyped up for a whole year?
kazuviking2026-01-29 18:21
The inazuma storm, dain fighting his old mentor just to name a few.
Plus-Theme-32832026-01-30 12:21
I honestly think dian fight against the abyss sibling was the worst because they actually hype this up
noakai2026-01-29 18:32
And literally so many words crossing the screen that even I, someone who literally reads constantly *just for fun*, gets so freaking bored that I get tempted to skip through it. Even when I'm trying to pay attention sometimes I get annoyed at how much unnecessary dialogue there is in these things and can't pay attention anymore, there's so many words that the words themselves stop meaning anything.
Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo2026-01-29 22:46
I did a little study on why tf Genshin's textboxes are so unbearable compared to other games like point-and-clicks or JRPGs, and it comes down to:
1. The fact that tere's no text blips (the sound text makes as it appears in a game like Ace Attorney)
2. No option to change text speed. You either click to auto-display the full text or you watch it slowly appear.
3. There's often a severe lack of emotive character visuals.
4. And when there *are* visuals, despite not being voiced, the on-screen dialogue is tied to the animations and doesn't even *let* you click to auto-display. The player straight up loses ALL ability to input.
Lastly, an honorable mention goes out to the triple wombo combo where points 2 & 4 become a player input nightmare because the MC dialogue choice options will show up ***before*** the text is done typing itself which means YOU CAN ACCIDENTALLY CHOOSE A DIALOGUE OPTION BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN READ THE TEXT IN THE BOX THAT THE GAME DOESN'T LET YOU SKIP THE TYPING ANIMATION FOR.
noakai2026-01-30 01:22
All of this is so true. One of my little annoyances in the game is that they'll let you quickly click through to the next dialogue line 90% of the time, but then the other 10% of the time, you're stuck waiting for an animation to stop playing. When the dialogue is not even voiced it's extra annoying, it feels like I'm literally waiting for nothing. I can read faster than they can talk and it's soooo annoying sometimes lol.
Admirable_Register892026-01-29 18:33
>Insert black screen with white text during the most important parts, powerpoint presentation, paimon repeats the conversation most of the time, hypes up what you have to do and its walk here, spam space, press F, tp to next location.
Like. Come on give examples
Redguard123452026-01-30 10:26
In spite of these lackluster presentation elements, the WQs are generally more thoroughly written because of the focus on the details of the story (and the lack of needing to write dialogue which accomodates for voice acting). I don't dislike reading books because there's no pictures. Obviously a large portion of people aren't playing Genshin to read, but I'd rather have what we have than nothing at all.
egudu2026-01-29 19:44
> You're talking about doubling or tripling the hiring and management workload.
Oh no! How could a company with over 6000 employees and over 6 billion USD in revenue could handle that.
Stop making excuses for them.
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 20:26
Yawn, this argument again. The bottleneck with voice acting at this scale is always time and human resources, not money.
Also if you were even remotely interested in this topic beyond finding paths to your predetermined, preferred conclusion you wouldn't have ignored the core of my post.
egudu2026-01-29 21:04
> The bottleneck with voice acting at this scale is always time and human resources,
No it isn't, stop making excuses for a multi-billion dollar company.
VA work is a really quick job. Columbina VA did her work in half the time they gave her - which was six hours (so she did it in three hours(!)). And she is a main character. This is less than half a normal work day - for an archon quest.
EDIT: And for the people who think there are "scheduling issues": no. You might have them if you want to have some famous VA (and don't want to pay enough money). VAs (except TV/movies) nowadays work from home. You literally sit down in front of your PC for an hour and you are done. And since we are talking world quests, you can get absolutely no-name VAs - there are a lot of them out there.
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 21:34
Yes it is.
Voice work is planned out 6 months in advance whereas world quests are usually implemented much closer to release. Voice actors are contractors who do not have availability at the same time, coordinating them being a logistical and HR nightmare is a well known issue. FFXIV literally never got a major character in the story again after they hired the actor for roose Bolton to voice that character
because they can't get a session with him.
I'd rather point out object truths about a deliverable based around literal contractors versus jumping on the "I insist on being really upset for my dopamine fix" bandwagon that you're on.
And sorry but the mUlTi BiLLioN dOlLaR ComPanY schtick you keep doing is pretty obnoxious and annoying. Stop doing that.

I'll never understand why redditors think every problem can be solved with more money. 9 women can't have a baby in 1 month (edit: after making this post I am only now realizing someone else commented the same thing lol). The world isn't so black and white. You say "multi-billion dollar company" so that in your head you can dissociate the work from the actual human employees who actually have to do the work. You don't just hire some voice actors and copy paste the voice files to align with the text boxes. If you ever work a corporate job (or any job) maybe you'll get it.
egudu2026-01-30 14:10

Why is anyone defending world quests not being voiced? It's absurd.
Kuliyayoi2026-01-30 14:47
What's your background in game development? Let's see some credentials to back up these false claims of yours.
ElsaGranhiert2026-01-29 17:57
The answer would be more resources for the game and this would take a heavy toll on mobile storage. Another thing is that they will pay voice actors across different languages. I know they're a billion dollar company but they would rather spend that money elsewhere rather than voicing NPCs. At least they're not doing AI voices (well I hope they won't).
kazuviking2026-01-29 18:18
>but they would rather spend that money elsewhere rather than voicing
For a new luxury car, luxury clothes etc.
Voicing every single world quest would barely make the game larger as audio compression exists.
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 18:45
For 4 new games and lots of qol updates.
kazuviking2026-01-29 19:58
Genshin and lot of qol desn't belong in the same sentence.
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 20:24
You and objective reasoning don't either evidently.
egudu2026-01-29 18:41
> the answer would be more resources for the game and this would take a heavy toll on mobile storage.
Not a valid reason. You can make voice packs DLC.
> Another thing is that they will pay voice actors across different languages.
They are literally one of the richest game developers on this planet. I think they can afford the few bucks.
roomon4ire2026-01-29 19:14
Mobile storage isn't really a concern anymore considering you can now download the game with no quest resources installed and download them as needed and then delete when the quest is finished
After-Syrup12902026-01-29 20:29
Not to mention hoyo pulls in like what? 200 mill a month or something from genshin alone? 160 mill approx even for the poorer months?
Drop in the bucket for them really as they can do whatever with that much money - voice pack DLC? Easy stuff
But when things I will say is that currently their finances are tied up in making other new games - not HSR and zzz, but their new flagship unreal games that well, need a lot more money... Along with that Pokemon type kids game they came out with last year too
So yeah - its not like they don't have cash, but not like they're not using it either, do i still think they can make voiced was? Yes, as i said, drop in the bucket... But hoyo is as of now trying to become a one stop every type of game dev or something for now
frajen2026-01-29 21:10
Not perfectly accurate but monthly sensor tower shows about $20-100 mil a month in the last year, usually in the lower half of that range. Mobile purchases only, so it should be higher considering other platforms https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/s/UH2PRp6mUF
More data https://revenue.ennead.cc/revenue. I could only go back to Mar 2025 but i definitely remember Jan 25 (the Mavuika/Citlali month) to be at $100
Low_Artist_76632026-01-30 04:33
Nobody plays world quests, that's why Nodkrai is a thing to begin with. So it will still be a problem. Especially on PS.
And it's just too much work for no reason.
luxiaojun1772026-01-29 20:23
Almost reminded of the difference in dialogue quality b/w morrowind and oblivion onwards
regor_meme2026-01-29 20:53
They should atleast voice the so said main world quests
Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo2026-01-29 22:34
I hope they don't do AI voices either, but on the note of voicing NPCs, I would rather have the load-bearing lore quests be about important characters. Why not have Rana, Caterpillar & co., etc. be playable characters instead of NPCs? Their quest's would've been more than enough marketing material (although maybe not enough for Hoyo).
Koanos2026-01-30 06:36
> The answer would be more resources for the game and this would take a heavy toll on mobile storage.
Yeah, even if they had unlimited funds, storage capacity just would not be able to hold everything.
Houeclipse2026-01-30 07:45
What you said had merit but man does it get depressing to know that they could but they won't do it
ahmadalhuraibi2026-01-29 18:08
Still stuck in Jeht's world quest? yawn too slow. we're already in Nod krai, not Sumeru.
I bet they used English Voiceover as well, boring. Might as well used Japanese AI Voiceover.

Cold Take
I-fell2026-01-29 18:22
Oh wow thank you bc I missed a lot from my depression era (too busy/was getting burnt out around the tail end of Inazuma up until sometime during Fontaine so I skipped a lot of these/forgot what happened)
Timey162026-01-29 18:27
It'd probably work if Genshin was just dubbed into a single language. But multiple languages? Yeah scheduling there would make things next to impossible I fear.
egudu2026-01-29 19:39
> Yeah scheduling there would make things next to impossible I fear.
You serious? Voice acting is a really quick job. Columbina VA said she was done in half the time they gave her (which was six hours). And this is for multiple takes.
This is not a valid reason.
Come on downvoters: give me a valid reason against the **facts** I stated. You can't.
Low_Artist_76632026-01-30 04:41
I guess it was en va? You know, the ones that do recording from home, alone or just don't show up for a year? And expect to get their mental health treatment covered by hoyo?
Pop-girlies2026-01-30 07:10
Keep in mind they probably work from home and if they just tended to like the takes she gave a bit quicker than others then it is feasible for her to finish quickly
egudu2026-01-30 08:04
> Keep in mind they probably work from home and if they just tended to like the takes she gave a bit quicker than others then it is feasible for her to finish quickly
Of course they work from home.
Pop-girlies2026-01-30 08:05
Yeah en VAs do but I can see how it's harder for other languages since they probably don't
egudu2026-01-30 08:08
> since they probably don't
What makes you think that? VA work has an extremely low entry barrier - you need a decent mic for $100. Nowadays there is no reason why anyone would have them go to a studio. There are so many VAs out there that getting one is absolutely no problem. Sure if you want some famous hollywood actor you'll have scheduling issues (and they are expensive) - but that is the neat part with world quests - you can get absolutely no-name VAs for little money and since you don't need them after one questline you can choose whoever you like and won't run into any scheduling issues. I don't understand why people here do not get that. Just think logically.
multificionado2026-01-29 18:31
Thanks for the recommendation! :)
egudu2026-01-29 18:39
WQ not being voiced makes them have like zero impact. They are one of the richest game developers on the planet and they cheap out on this - it's kinda unacceptable to be honest. And don't tell me "oh it's because file size" - then make it a DLC, problem solved (I'm sure they can afford a developer to do that).
Vaiolette-Westover2026-01-29 18:48
The only time in Genshin when my friend who cries at nothing actually just full on broke down was at the end of Aranyaka.
PantheraAuroris2026-01-29 18:44
I would pay so much for Patrick Seitz (Enjou) to voice the Mare Jivari quest.
Radusili2026-01-29 18:57
Meh not really. Though I wished they would shout a bit more about how those quests are insanely important. To this day I hate myself for skipping through Seirai thinking it was just an average side quests as I knew from other games.
The_Wkwied2026-01-29 18:59
I enjoy playing my voice acted visual-novel anime game.
I have spent more money than I care to admit on pulling characters *for their voice actor*
I would greatly enjoy more voice acted quests.
GolldenFalcon2026-01-29 19:42
I suspect this is English only? Is there a version for other languages?
frajen2026-01-29 21:15

ReasonablyCreamy2026-01-29 21:42

chickenflippers2026-01-30 03:35
Jeht's world quests are some of my favorite! I will be enjoying this channel, thanks!
_ironhearted_2026-01-30 05:18
It's mostly because it's just back and forth expo dump between characters instead of actual dialogue. The WQ focus is on exploration and world building, and dialogue is just supplementary.
Everyone says that it's expensive to hire more VAs which is true, also extra gb of storage, but they would also have to work on refining the dialogue to sound reasonable when spoken out, while also maintaining the amount of info they want to convey. It would feel very long too. The current AQ has a ton of lore and yet it still doesn't touch the surface of what WQs lay down. They wouldn't want to bog down their WQ team by asking so much at once.
Disturbing_Cheeto2026-01-30 06:05
Is there any hope for Jeht to come back at this point?
Houeclipse2026-01-30 07:47
This is a nice find! I hope the channel owner continue updating for more WQ
anarchy7532026-01-30 08:57
Yep. If you want something to be important, and you want me to be interested in it, start by treating it like its something important and something to be interested in.

So yeah - its not like they don't have cash, but not like they're not using it either, do i still think they can make voiced was? Yes, as i said, drop in the bucket... But hoyo is as of now trying to become a one stop every type of game dev or something for now
More data https://revenue.ennead.cc/revenue. I could only go back to Mar 2025 but i definitely remember Jan 25 (the Mavuika/Citlali month) to be at $100
And it's just too much work for no reason.
Yeah, even if they had unlimited funds, storage capacity just would not be able to hold everything.
I bet they used English Voiceover as well, boring. Might as well used Japanese AI Voiceover.
You serious? Voice acting is a really quick job. Columbina VA said she was done in half the time they gave her (which was six hours). And this is for multiple takes.
This is not a valid reason.
Come on downvoters: give me a valid reason against the **facts** I stated. You can't.
Of course they work from home.
I have spent more money than I care to admit on pulling characters *for their voice actor*
I would greatly enjoy more voice acted quests.
