And people.accuse traveller of having no personality.
ejsks2026-01-29 19:00
Traveler's character development was learning Teyvatian to practice cold one-liners.
aebinafan2026-01-29 19:03
😂true, seeing him being cold and serious in one quest to a complete goofball in others is so entertaining lmao.
suki-suki-desu2026-01-29 19:06
Tbfr traveller appears to only gain personality in world quests like i get the chinese players like when the mc doesn’t have personality so they can self insert but at least give em something in archon quest
aebinafan2026-01-29 19:09
Well, they have a personality now in archon quests since natlan. So i would say they are going in right direction. Just add more goof ball and cold dialogues in relevant situations and we are good.
suki-suki-desu2026-01-29 19:18
The thing is even if it’s an improvement it still feels so lackluster especially when i play gacha games like limbus company and endfield
survivorr123_2026-01-29 20:08
i feel like endfield also suffers from the silent mc issue, at least at the start, i havent played the full game yet
suki-suki-desu2026-01-29 20:09
Yeah but there is actually animations to their emotions, better then genshin three same animation being reused
UltraPhoenix952026-01-29 21:04
Outside of Laev's quest, the Endministrator is mostly silent without a particular personnality, and it's hard to really show the emotions of a character who has a mask 24h
XaeiIsareth2026-01-29 19:24
They’re slowly turning British as the story progresses
By Celestia they’ll address Phanes as ‘oi, chief cunt’
TrueSeaworthiness7032026-01-29 20:08
I’ve never played those games, but I’d love an all’fucka
Talithea2026-01-29 21:16

Luneward2026-01-29 23:45
And after Celestia, they'll upgrade to being Scottish. Then after Genshin story 2, they'll upgrade to being Finnish.
ContinentalChamp2026-01-29 19:25
I mean that's pretty accurate for the most part.
Animelover56742026-01-29 19:25
The fact that very few peeped that the Traveler, up until maybe Natlan or Nod Krai, still felt like they were alien in Teyvat and felt more estranged and lonely as a result is wild to me. Not to mention the abandonment from their sibling as well as feeling like no one in this world will understand them and their feeling of being an outcast clearly weighs on them. That's not even including that they themselves don't think that they're a hero like everyone says they are.
I'm glad that they grew to see Teyvat as a home after all this time.
Hamster-Fine2026-01-29 19:34
it's called people having media literacy issues. It was pretty obvious what type character the Traveler was and said character arc the Traveler was having as far back as when Inazuma was starting.
TuzkiPlus2026-01-30 01:22
The lone Traveler...+ Paimon. I wish we got to see Abit about how Traveler and Paimon lived before the fishing incident.
If we do end up having time travelling shenanigans at the end of all this, I hope future Traveler and Paimon get to stick past Paimon onto the fishing hook like we helped with the fishing Director in Fontaine lol.
elbenji2026-01-29 22:28
People just didn't pay attention. We were just killing folks left and right in inazuma and sumeru
kingofallbandits2026-01-30 01:26
Yeah, we can kill that one fatui operative in Sumeru in cold blood, the one who infiltrated Vimara village.
elbenji2026-01-30 01:26
We murk the pokemon event guy too
kingofallbandits2026-01-30 01:33
The fatui guy is wild as well, because he is actually remorseful and says he didn't want anyone to get hurt. You can even choose to let him go, but the default is killing him.
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-30 06:21
>You can even choose to let him go, but the default is killing him.
That one? Did you know, that letting him go would mean that he meets a far more gruesome end? He ends up at Vanarana where he would then be attacked and killed by a group of Rifthounds. Rifthounds basically deal bleeding damage, he did not die an honourable death.
Jibsthelord2026-01-30 06:38
The Dottore glazer? He survived, someone ELSE got him
TakeyoThissssssssss2026-01-30 01:56
There is a quest in Sumeru that have us breaking kneecaps and smashing teeth of some dumbass mercenary
Seifty_First2026-01-30 04:25
….? We massacred an entire village with Jeht
BigBoss828912026-01-30 07:14
Inazuma was the turning point of how the traveller is shown that killing people is "normal" in the quests. Hell, u still remember the fatui agent we "offed" near a cliff in vimara village then telling the kid the dude went far away. That's when we really saw traveller killing dudes are canon.
Yomega3602026-01-29 20:19
Trofin would beg to differ, if he could.
RagnarokAeon2026-01-29 20:39
Traveler's personality changes with the wind (or more realisticly with the current author of each adventure)
Loyal_Sophia2026-01-29 21:12
he's getting voicelines now so it's the step in the right direction
tasketekudasai2026-01-30 05:39
Oh wow look guys, one random one liner in some random ass quest. So much personality!!!
Disturbing_Cheeto2026-01-30 05:41
When Inazuma came out people accused traveler of too much personality.
Limp_Call85362026-01-30 05:53
bare minimum btw
karillith2026-01-30 09:45
I think that more than having no personality it can definitely come as inconsistent at times, especially between archon quest and side content, they seem to be way more unhinged in the latter to me.
TailorUnlikely99802026-01-29 19:04
Travaler, you almost cried when a kuuvahki jewelfish passed away, what the hell is this?
RowanWinterlace2026-01-29 19:13
The Traveler has that Gon Freecs empathy. They genuinely care about life and the living until you're an opp, then anything can happen to you...
Maleficent-Feed35662026-01-29 19:15
Yeah disrespect traveler just once and he will be always suspcious/hateful with you, be friends with him from the start and he will excuse you even if you blown up some planets
TailorUnlikely99802026-01-29 19:21
"disrespect traveler just once and he will be always suspcious/hateful"
Ah, not sure about that, haha.
Maleficent-Feed35662026-01-29 19:23
He literally held a grudge against signora for venti's gnosis literally across 3 regions
DustyRaider2026-01-29 19:27
But then Childe tried to abolish Liyue from the map and the next time we met he was an old pal of ours
Maleficent-Feed35662026-01-29 19:28
Yeah because he saved us from some milleliths ehen they first met
Varonth2026-01-29 19:58
Childe did not want to erase Liyue from the map.
He helped orchestrate the events for Zhongli so that Zhongli could test if the people of Liyue still needed him as an archon.
He said he would have intervened if they could not handle that threat on their own.
Maleficent-Feed35662026-01-29 20:03
Childe didn't know he was aiding zhongli
CampaignDismal24772026-01-29 20:38
Brother Childe had zero idea of Zhong and Signora plan. He was Signora pawn threw and threw
So when he was about to erase that city he whole heartly meant it. Sure we the viewer knew that Zhong would stop him before it's to late but Childe himself had no such idea. Bro was fully willing to commit a massive atrocity
Costyn172026-01-29 21:09
Childe's plan was release Osial to force Morax to come deal with Osial and FIGHT him for the gnosis. He didn't know anything about the deal between Zhongli and Tsaritsa.
Neospartan_1172026-01-29 21:55
I mean, if you do things in release order then after Liyue and before Fontaine was Childe's story quest, in which Teucer is literally the only reason why Traveler didn't execute Childe. Like, Traveler was really about to do it until Childe reminded them of Teucer and the pain of losing a sibling. And in the Inazuma event Traveler and Paimon only pretended to be Childe's friends to prevent Xinyan from freaking out over being stuck in a labyrinth with a Harbinger, then let him go because he was genuinely friendly to her.
Childe genuinely worked a lot to gain Traveler's trust.
ComposedOfStardust2026-01-30 13:24
THANK YOU. People forget just how much Traveler was on unfriendly terms with Childe early on, especially in his story quest. I feel like the prevalence of childe x traveler ship skewed people's perceptions of how close the two actually are
TailorUnlikely99802026-01-29 19:29
Well, we got Ei, Tart, Scara, Arle, etc. It really depends on how much Travaler can emphasize with you, rather than their first impression of you.
Varonth2026-01-29 19:48
Arlecchino was never really antagonistic towards the traveler.
The worst was them having a rough sparring match during her story quest.
During the Fontaine arc they were aligned in their goal, same for Nod Krai.
TailorUnlikely99802026-01-29 19:57
Fair enough, but I included her into the list mainly because of how Travaler was distrustful of her, but then changed their mind. I think that the comment above terribly simplified their mindset to a one dimensional character.
RowanWinterlace2026-01-29 19:29
That wasn't the *only* reason.
They were mad that Signora jumped them both in Mondstadt (knocking the Traveler out), made a fool of them in Liyue and put everyone in danger, were fucking around in Inazuma (leading to Teppei's death) and were overall just incredibly mean and bitchy.
Maleficent-Feed35662026-01-29 19:31
I didn't say it was just for that, but we see it as a choice to say to her before we duel her
AlkaliPineapple2026-01-30 16:13
Not to mention that Signora was the first major Fatui representative, which threatened to kill Dvalin and take over the city. The Fatui was their enemy in the beginning, and Childe worked under Signora in Liyue - he is Fatui too.
Look at it from the Traveler's perspective. They had been invaders and manipulators from the beginning, and Signora led all three operations that pretty much started the Archon Quests of these regions.
Seraph1992026-01-29 19:32
He was hella rude to Wanderer for multiple interactions after Wanderer's story quest and only in Nod Krai really started to treat him with respect and see him as an ally
Furicel2026-01-29 20:26
There's a lot of event context you're missing, I'd say
invokeneko2026-01-30 02:17
Yup, those events (especially Simulanka) really did wonders with Traveller (and Paimon)'s impressions towards Hat Guy and vice versa.
BusBoatBuey2026-01-29 20:18
It is true. Furina is a good example of it. Even after everything was revealed, Traveler and Paimon still held a grudge going into her quest.
TailorUnlikely99802026-01-29 20:20
Wait, what ? When ?
elbenji2026-01-29 22:31
We're still a total bitch to her until like the start of her story quest
RowanWinterlace2026-01-29 22:37
By we, I'm assuming you mean that bit where Paimon made that comment about how long she had slept in for? Because the Traveler really wasn't bitchy at all to her, and she ultimately enjoyed and appreciated the push to leave the house and help the troupe.
RowanWinterlace2026-01-29 22:52
They never held a grudge against her? Especially the Traveler, who saw the entire 500 year struggle she went through.
They were deeply sympathetic towards everything she went through, were immediately praising her as soon as they mentioned her in the quest and backed off and left her alone when she said she wasn't interested. Paimon just put her foot in her mouth (a few times), that's it.
CampaignDismal24772026-01-29 20:36

UltraPhoenix952026-01-29 21:09
The Traveler was suspicious of Childe and not fully trusted him:
\- before he reveals himself as Harbinger
\- after he revealed himself as Harbinger
\- during his SQ
\- during the Inazuma "Labyrinth Warriors" event
it's only in Fontaine that the Traveler really acted as buddy buddy
Templar2k72026-01-29 19:19
He was helping kidnap qucusaurs to extran their phlogiston that ended up killing them.
They later learn he kidnapped basically Chasca's niece (her Qucusaurs sister child Chasca was raised by them). Idk if this line is before or after but the Traveler is a good person but morally grey. They won't out right help in a conflict that doesn't impact them but won't let injustices They see go unpunished.
TailorUnlikely99802026-01-29 19:25
>"They won't out right help in a conflict that doesn't impact them"
Is that so ? I always felt like in most of WQs they just help out of pure goodness.
floricel_1122026-01-29 19:29
And sometimes some fish adeptus or moonchanter ghost just spirit you away to their sanctum, asking for help
Templar2k72026-01-29 19:46
World quests are their way of adventure because they are an adventurer. Remember the horribly written Inazuma AQ where everyone in act 1/2 kept going "hey traveler want to help us in our Civil war?"
It took a lot of convincing to get them to join. I will say Hoyo is now starting to write them as more "righteous" and always wanting to help.
Neospanner2026-01-29 20:21
I think part of the reason they were so reluctant was that they didn't know who was in the right - or whether ANYONE was in the right. Sometimes, both sides have bad reasons for fighting each other.
They didn't really come on board until they saw the negative effects of the Vision Hunt Decree, and Thoma's almost sharing in that fate.
UltraPhoenix952026-01-29 21:12
It was also not long after finally seeing their sibling again, so being so close yet so far of their goal might have made them a bit uncaring for everything else
Neospartan_1172026-01-29 22:06
My read on the Inazuma arc was that Traveler was fresh off of their meeting with their sibling, in which Traveler tried to jump ship off of Teyvat immediately but their sibling was like "I'm busy, explore all seven nations first", so Traveler wanted to speedrun the Journey and everyone in Inazuma wanted to take massive chunks of their time (Civil wars can take years), and then Traveler saw people's suffering for themselves causing them to slow down.
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-29 20:09
Chasca's tribe quest still is one of top 5 worst quests for me.

PanzerWafflezz2026-01-29 22:48
Is this referring to Luonnotar or something else?
TailorUnlikely99802026-01-30 06:18
No, there was a WQ "Up to the Promised Skies", where the Fatui captured kawasaki julfishes, and so Travaler wanted to help them. One of the julfishes wasted its own lifeforce to save the others, which cased the scene I mentioned.
PanzerWafflezz2026-01-30 06:25
Ah a Nodkrai world quest. Makes sense why I dont know. Been trying to complete all the world quests in Nodkrai as sparingly as possible to bridge the no-map content gap up to 6.5.

(The other one is Leroy btw. That PoS deserved it)
ezio452026-01-30 01:28
It also happened in Escoffier's story quest where the main villain is knocked out in the ruins and everyone escapes because it was about to be destroyed.

why couldn’t that synthetic fuel processing research just be restarted so that we can have airborne infantry fighting alongside qucusaur cavalry??
arseholierthanthou2026-01-30 02:14
Because converting them to an alternative fuel source is an engineering problem, and Natlan's only engineer is busy fixing Mavuika's bike for the eighteenth time.

The reason Natlan tech is so scattered and only few of them exist is because people don't know how make use of phlogiston properly. Xilonen is a bit of exception since she's the top blacksmith but mass production of these things will take time due to limited knowledge and limited resources.
Alan_Reddit_M2026-01-29 20:49

I still remember the moment in Inazuma when soldjers were abusing Eye of Corruption and used all of their lifespans, and it was clear that Fatui didn't say about that side effect. That was the moment where MC snapped and "We need to kill them now"
Till this day I distrust Fatui, even after their help with Natlan
Lbbm_burner_account2026-01-30 00:26
Correct me on if I’m wrong, but don’t the fatui vary on what harbinger they serve?
Which is why Arle and Capitano’s are typically kinder than Signora or Regrators.
Nikaidokuro2026-01-30 04:14
Well, I guesd they have too much Freedom , consıderıng how dıfferently Inazuma and Natlan werr dealt wıth by Fatuı. Tsarıtsa have an interesting policy in that regard, I guess
Lbbm_burner_account2026-01-30 04:16
Outside of the direct Verdicts from the Tsaritsa it’s really just: No infighting, no betrayal, and get the gnosis.
And the Fatui just do whatever they want as long as they follow those rules.
Nikaidokuro2026-01-30 11:19
Imagine getting all the military support of Fatui (and they are very tough bastards) to do basically whatever you want.

Wait till you get to the meeting point for Illuga's new Lighthouse... You can threaten the NPC to stay locked up indefinitely, just because he got sidetracked by some cute creatures that blocked his path (to save him) and therefore didn't make it to the meeting point in time.
I think what those Fontainian guys did to a huge bunch of innocent and non-threatening ququsaurs was evil, and it was not weird that Traveler threatened them.

Studies show the Traveler's lethality increases by a metric of 314% when a character is in or affiliated with Inazuma
Or.. well.. there might have been none left from the rampage through the desert to have reported on the Traveller.
Dottore is a side content skipper, he only read archon quests.
why couldn’t that synthetic fuel processing research just be restarted so that we can have airborne infantry fighting alongside qucusaur cavalry??
The reason Natlan tech is so scattered and only few of them exist is because people don't know how make use of phlogiston properly. Xilonen is a bit of exception since she's the top blacksmith but mass production of these things will take time due to limited knowledge and limited resources.
Till this day I distrust Fatui, even after their help with Natlan
Which is why Arle and Capitano’s are typically kinder than Signora or Regrators.
And the Fatui just do whatever they want as long as they follow those rules.
*1000%* deserved. I'd be that angry, too.
I think what those Fontainian guys did to a huge bunch of innocent and non-threatening ququsaurs was evil, and it was not weird that Traveler threatened them.
