USD value of primos is cheaper in different currencies. Can do it yourself using a VPN. I vpn to japan. IIRC $100 pack is something like 12000 yen which is like $77. Decent savings. Loot Bar is basically just doing this but taking a slice.
As for completely legit.... who knows. I don't know of anyone that's been banned and i've spent thousands this way. I feel very safe doing this because Japan is such a major country/market for Genshin. There's simply no way Hoyo will ban for japan. I mean if you're vpning to like someplace entirely random, who knows.

I'll just C6 Flins when he reruns. I'm only kinda interested in Nicole, but will likely C6 Sandrone.
Looking back at Fontaine, I never pulled Neuvillette, but I have a C6/R1 Emilie.... I just kinda do what I want.

I've seen both actually. Some whales on my friend list keep their c6 characters in lv 80 with ok level artifacts. And some just go all out. Lv 100, double/triple crown. Both types spend a lot of money that's for sure. Even if they don't always get r5, you can always find the brand new meta at c6 on their account.

I spend to generally get each character i like to C2(every character since eula and inazuma except yomiaya, raidens friend kinich chasca the shark girl i didnt get and dont like) and the ones I really like i C6 xilonen, wanderer, veresa, skirk, arlechino, wriothesly, nev... will move the core lunar/nodkrai folks from c2 to c6 on their reruns

Yeah, I have been max refreshing since October 2023, it started with me trying to get Raiden a 40 CV sands - didn't happen until like..2025. My Neuvillette was top 1 on leaderboard for like 2.5 years in every category before I got a CV 40 sands lol
Now I just continue because the extra resin makes character building easier, the extra artifacts help build them faster. But I'm pretty picky about my characters, lately its been all of them because I was really weak in dendro main DPS.
Probably not rolling for a new character until late this year or 2026 just cus the new ones arent that interesting to me or overlap with already existing competent DPS. I think the main driver for me was the lunar IT and making sure I had enough main DPS combos to accomplish it in every variation
i have a bunch of c6 5 stars never r5 a weapon just don't care. resin top up? hell no i can spend that money on blackjack and hookers.

What I *did* learn as a whale was how much of a scam the weapon banner is, that 75% is a lie and don’t ever R5 a weapon just to make up for a character’s shortcomings, it makes jack difference
My bf on the other hand doesn’t resin refresh anymore but as a leviathan will C6R5 anyone he fancies and is most importantly, meta

Whale here, (something around $15k USD at this point idk i stopped looking after 10k) I use primos I get from just playing on resin refreshes every now and then, but more consistently for new characters I like if they need the new artifact set.
It's the only way to get ahead of the curve on artifacts / leaderboards if you're competitive about that (not every whale is but I think being a whale makes you tend toward that mindset) and it's only $300 a month to max resin refresh every day, which I find very worth.

Not sure if I'd be considered a whale. I just buy whatever it is I want and stop there. I don't think I overspend just for the sake of spending. The only time I ever spend primos on resin is when I'm getting really good artifact luck. I've found on days that I'm seeing good artifacts the more I spend the more decent artifacts I get. However I'm sure its a placebo, and I just have a gambling problem. I'd say It really isn't worth it at all.

I also do resin top ups. My behavior on top ups has changed over time, based on my immediate needs. These days I do 1 top up (For those who do not know, the cost of a top up increases each time you do it in a day) per day during the time that Stygian provides artifacts. I'm doing that to maximize my artifact gains. So it's 10 days at 50 primos, or 500 total every 40 days.
I also did some top ups after getting columbina, but that was largely driven by the fact I couldn't prefarm, and I needed her materials before the next round of Stygian was starting. I would have happily waited an extra 2 days, but that 2 days would have become 12 due to stygian.
I also, in the past would sometimes buy the talent/weapon materials for when its the wrong day of the week and I need 1-2 more. I still keep a stash of those, for when it happens, but I've been better at avoiding that these days.
Lastly, I buy the advanced version of the battle pass. I'm buying the battle pass regardless, but for an extra 10 usd, I'm getting 5 resin things, + the reroll feather.

I refresh 3 times every day. If you pull too much you soon reach a point where your natural resin generation isn't fast enough to allow you to build all the characters you pull. I don't even farm artifacts outside of stygian and half of my characters aren't lvl 90.

I just started playing last year and I'm so behind on leveled up characters. I have probably spent a few hundred on just getting more resin when I really want to finish leveling a character or go for their best artifact. A year later and I still feel like I'm playing catch up. I don't even have enough leveled up characters to do the newest imaginarium theater. I refreshed resin for a few months to get Scara his anemo gob (this was before it was in strongbox). Otherwise I consider artifacts to be pure gambling and not worth it. Pulls will always go towards a character or con, we have guaranteed numbers for those, but artifacts have none of that. Its around $120 or something to fully topup resin for two weeks, its very expensive.
I do usually buy most outfits and bps. Occassionally I buy the items in the shop that let us select books or mats.

I’ve got 21 limited characters and 14 are C0, 3 are C1 ( *although two of them were unintentional, they were the same characters twice as loses on the chronicle banners* ), 2 at C2 ( *one of them is only at C2 due to getting my last three cons for Faruzan, I learned my lesson, never go for four stars on a five stars banner* ) and two of them are C6R1 ( *one of the weapons came from the standard banner* ). The two big purchases I made were back in January and October 2025. Usually I just buy Welkin and BP.
I tend to only pull for weapons for my favourites or sometimes the supports ( *I’ve wished on three weapon banners and somehow managed to get both characters weapons even when I don’t have the character for said signature weapon* ).
As for spending my primos on resin top-ups, no I don’t. Although I have about 66 fragile resins I don’t actually use them unless I really need to. Once I’ve used my 200 resin that is me done using it for the day. I’ll let it build back up for the next day.

As someone with a ton of limited C6 five stars and a handful of R5s, Ill do resin refreshes from time to time. Generally its when a new artifact set drops and usually no more then two of them a day.

I've spent primos on resin a few times, but only when I'm desperate, usually prefer to keep my primos for additional pulls, though I will admit, I do quite like collecting the outfits in-game

Honestly, depends, I can't tell how much I spent, maybe between 6K€ to 10k€ (playing since 1.0) usually I would do when there is a new dungeon for a new characters and I want to get my weapon asap too (which is stupid as I have 100% every area and I only login to empty my resin). But that's about it
Sometimes I give away Welkin, which I stopped, 'cause people would join my world just for that.

I think this depends on the level of whale that you are, as not all spending is equal.
For me personally, I only ever spend on pulls, and only for characters I really like. By the same token, I tend not to ever go past the early constellations or R1’s because I actually want to *play* the game, an anything past that starts just auto-clearing content imho.

No. Characters and weapons are a one time acquisition that has a guaranteed cost endpoint. You can resin refresh endlessly and never get a better artifact. It's not worth it.

I’m an ex-whale since I lost my job last year due to an accident but I remember the things I would get that would leave my friends flabbergasted was the entire page with those bundles for the talent material and the stones as well as every single skin for the sake of having it even if I didn’t love the character. I just got tired of staring at the same exact back too often.

I've been spending 50 primos on a single Resin Refresh per day for the last 3 years. Saves a ton of time considering I'm only losing one 5star pull a year for it. For the record, my C6 5-stars include Sigewinne, Chiori, Furina, Nahida, Wanderer, so I would say I qualify as a whale.

For someone like me who c6r5s most characters the only real currency Genshin requires is your time. I have no issue with resin refreshes to minimize that time spent.

Well, figured I can chime in as I probably fit in the low whale category. I've spent about 10-12k total, if the character is predicted to be "meta" I usually go to the breakpoint constellation (usually c2 or c4) and always get r1 weaponfor every character. I have a few characters I liked enough to C6, but only 1 so far I have C6R5d I hated pulling on the weapon banner until they moved it to 1 fate point so maybe I'll do more r5 weapons in the future
That being said, I will never ever spend any money on resin top ups....

I don't use primos on resin (except once where it was to build a character fast since I was OBSESSEDDD with Dehya and topped up to get some new artifacts for her haha)
Otherwise, if I have the ability and meet nice people in co-op I like to give pulls or a welkin if I have the means to do so at the time since it's really fun, I love seeing people happy and excited for the game that brings me so much joy and I just want to give back to the community :D

Even though I've got a good career now, it hasn't always been that way. I know what it's like to have to miss out on the things you enjoy. If I can spread some love occasionally, it's a good feeling. That said, people don't need to DM. That behavior is just tacky.
I was minding my business, farming for Columbina when I get a message from someone asking me for a welkin. Just out of the blue. No hello no how are you. Just outright asking if I'd buy the a welkin.
I didn't do so because I make it a strict rule to only buy it for family. My husband and brother occasionally get surprised, but that's it.
I've gotten small gifts twice now, both times from people after using my C6 DPS Qiqi to save the day after unfortunate deaths. I ain't spending them for at least a month, though, just in case.
Basically, select the genesis crystal pack you want or welkin and you only need a UID and boom, that account will receive the goods. No refunds of course.
Like "ok I made you strong, now fight me!"
I buy the $20 Battlepass every Version, keep my Welkin on an unbroken streak, and will buy my favorites to C6 or even C6/R5 if I really want them.

I might do a one-off refresh if there's a new character with brand new Boss Materials and I'm short on Fragiles, but that's about it.

I feel very safe doing this because Japan is such a major country/market for Genshin. There's simply no way Hoyo will ban for japan. Like, I have C6/R1 Columbina right now, but stopped at C2/R1 for Lauma and Flins. I wanted to see what Nod Krai DPS I was actually going to enjoy the most. Nefer was a skip and Zibai will be as well. I'll just C6 Flins when he reruns. I'm only kinda interested in Nicole, but will likely C6 Sandrone.
Looking back at Fontaine, I never pulled Neuvillette, but I have a C6/R1 Emilie.... I just kinda do what I want.

Probably not rolling for a new character until late this year or 2026 just cus the new ones arent that interesting to me or overlap with already existing competent DPS. I think the main driver for me was the lunar IT and making sure I had enough main DPS combos to accomplish it in every variation

I used to max resin refresh daily back then as a 1.0 player, but seeing how many fragiles the BP gives I just ended up buying BP every time for the fragiles and the standard wishes because I saw the game was going to have longevity
I now have 368 fragiles ~~hoarded~~ stockpiled for whenever I need to farm something
Used to C6 all my dudes but with how the company’s direction is going I refuse to give them anymore of my money and I’ve stopped my unbroken Welkin streak after Kinich released
What I *did* learn as a whale was how much of a scam the weapon banner is, that 75% is a lie and don’t ever R5 a weapon just to make up for a character’s shortcomings, it makes jack difference

It's the only way to get ahead of the curve on artifacts / leaderboards if you're competitive about that (not every whale is but I think being a whale makes you tend toward that mindset) and it's only $300 a month to max resin refresh every day, which I find very worth.
I also do resin top ups. My behavior on top ups has changed over time, based on my immediate needs. These days I do 1 top up (For those who do not know, the cost of a top up increases each time you do it in a day) per day during the time that Stygian provides artifacts. I'm doing that to maximize my artifact gains. So it's 10 days at 50 primos, or 500 total every 40 days.
I also did some top ups after getting columbina, but that was largely driven by the fact I couldn't prefarm, and I needed her materials before the next round of Stygian was starting. I would have happily waited an extra 2 days, but that 2 days would have become 12 due to stygian.
I also, in the past would sometimes buy the talent/weapon materials for when its the wrong day of the week and I need 1-2 more. I still keep a stash of those, for when it happens, but I've been better at avoiding that these days.
Lastly, I buy the advanced version of the battle pass. I'm buying the battle pass regardless, but for an extra 10 usd, I'm getting 5 resin things, + the reroll feather.
I do usually buy most outfits and bps. Occassionally I buy the items in the shop that let us select books or mats.
I’ve got 21 limited characters and 14 are C0, 3 are C1 ( *although two of them were unintentional, they were the same characters twice as loses on the chronicle banners* ), 2 at C2 ( *one of them is only at C2 due to getting my last three cons for Faruzan, I learned my lesson, never go for four stars on a five stars banner* ) and two of them are C6R1 ( *one of the weapons came from the standard banner* ). The two big purchases I made were back in January and October 2025. Usually I just buy Welkin and BP.
I tend to only pull for weapons for my favourites or sometimes the supports ( *I’ve wished on three weapon banners and somehow managed to get both characters weapons even when I don’t have the character for said signature weapon* ).
