Anything can get annoying when it’s overdone, but unlike “emergency food,” it’s both a joke and a character’s major quirk/interest. It’s more like Cyno’s puns, which they also overdo now. It’s less jarring to have people completely stop calling Paimon emergency food than to have Cyno completely stop telling jokes (or, say, to have Paimon start being indifferent to food or treasure). Compounding this, this particular quirk is one that you embody simply through being the main character of an RPG. If one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, what is a treasure hunter but a dumpster diver? You end up hoarding thousands of items, many of them completely worthless.

Nahida had EVERY RIGHT to have him eradicated for what he did to her and her people. But she is benevolent.

The thing with HSR though is that hoyo never got rid of that joke. We still keep getting the trash panda jokes. TB's signature icon is a trash raccoon with a baseball bat. We had like two trashcan events in a row once. At one point, a lot of players got extremely annoyed because a lot of the choices in Penacony is just stupid unserious unfunny jokes (at one point, they literally repeated the same JJK brainrot meme). And even if you didn't pick those options and mostly picked a more casual or serious choice, the characters still paint you out as a goofy oddball (ngl i got so annoyed when Phainon did this even though I mainly chose casual/serious choices). I *wished* HSR did with what genshin did.

A bit of a tangent, but I'm still pissed with that scene in the baths in Amphoreus when we were told of its history. I liked the serious tone the narrator took as it regaled the past but we kept gettinginterrupted and have the dialogue options to turn it into baby talk, and then the game forced you switch to that anyway and have the TB like it instead regardless of the options I chose beforehand.
